SOME REALLY BIG NEWS

Harry Potter stared at it. A lot of donations went into purchasing it. Now it sat in the middle of his bedroom floor. Like everything else Dudders put in his room, it was broken. He remembered Dudders getting it for Christmas 2 months ago. He picked it up to add it to the pile, growing in the corner. But as he touched it, it made an interesting, but mysterious sound.

Always one of curiosity, Harry put it on his desk and looked closer @ it. The upper part that looked like the telly in the living room appeared to have some writing on it. Something like â€˜mr. Fix-itâ€ or â€œmy fixingâ€ or something like that. Knowing none of the Dursleys would come into his room at this time of night, he opened up the multi-function pocketknife he got from the Weasleys and started digging in to this interesting contraption. Maybe he could actually repair it.

Once Harry got the bottom section open, he looked at the green, plastic board with all kinds of lines and button-like components on it. He started cleaning it off and found the board was actually blue. Some of the square things with propellers or fans on them had funny writings. IbM (I think) and P5 and Xeon stuff and lots of GB stuff. Oh, and GHz things. 3.2 or 3.5 things.

As he turned it around, he saw all the wirey things on the back. One he recognized as an electrical plug. Mr. Weasley had a few in his shed. But at Privet Drive, all the appliancees had plugs and ran off of electricity. So he plugged it into the wall and matched where all the other wirey things went. Then he watched as he pushed the button on the front.

Some lights came on and those fans started turning. There was a clicking, then a steady hum coming from it. The telly part started changing colors, then settled down. First he thought he saw a quill and a bottle of ink. But then it turned into an image of aâ€¦ofâ€¦a girl? With red hair? Then there was another person that showed up behind her. A guy, but with very dark hair. He put his arms around the girl, who smiled at him. It was like a photo heâ€™d seen somewhere but he wasnâ€™t sure where. Whoa. Like one of those pictures Colin Creevey is always taking in the Common Room.

It was almost like watching the telly, but different. This was better, faster, more efficient, and something like more securing. He couldnâ€™t change any channel since there wasnâ€™t any knobs to turn. But the funny typewriter-looking part wired to the back would change the name of the picture he was watching.

I have been priviledged to visit the new site. Steve and his technical crew have done a magnificent job and I cannot wait for everyone's reaction. The site was never crashed because of submissions, so there is no worry there.
However, I will let you in on some things. As I see many of you are watching the comments sections now.

The site was tested quite harshly, and by this I mean for example submissions were sent in 1 every 60 seconds.
The few of you who used your username and password for SIYE to enter into the box that pops up in a certain location...NOPE it doesnt work like that. There are two
of us watching you attempt it, and I will admit that several of you are quite clever.
There are lots of new things, on this new site for you, and the growth that is planned, is going to be a welcome change..I hope.

I know you are excited, and I kow you simply cant wait....
I assure you the time will come, and you will see it was worth it. I do ask that you remember that stories are validated one at a time, and the team of archivests, work as fast as they can
So you can submit all you like, but it will take time to sort it all out.

I might not post much more today at all, its Friday and nice out side, so I will go out and enjoy it.

As for the fonts this site uses, no Comic Sans is needed, It's very ugly and it's hard to read in large gulps. The font used for this site is very elegant and legible and you can alter the size of it if need be to see better. Speaking as a true font-snob here. ;)

Spenser - That is good to hear. I'm used to nightmares from work about when our servers go down and then all the users run back and jump onto it at the same time - causing yet another crash. But we use InDesign and paginator programs that take up a lot more CPU power than submitting stories.
