"Baby, It's Cold Outside" Challenge Update (1)
“No, mum,” Ginny said with her head in the fireplace, “you don’t need to worry. We’re just snowed in, so Harry’s staying over.”

Harry watched in amusement from the corner, observing Ginny appreciatively.

“No, mum, we won’t get up to anything. He’s staying on the sofa.”

Harry’s grin faded.

“Yeah, but you know what Harry’s like with the floo, and anyway, he’s not connected to it yet. Yes, we’ll be good. All right, mum, talk to you tomorrow.”

She pulled herself out of the fireplace, letting the flames go out as she unfolded and stood.

“I’ll make up the sofa, shall I?”

“Whatever for?”

“But you said...”

Ginny raised an eyebrow.

“Oh.” Harry’s grin returned. “Well, what about promising to be good?”

She grinned again, wickedly this time.

“Oh, we’ll be really good.”

The Challenge story can be told in many different ways. This is just one suggestion to get your mind to start thinking of ideas.

Oh my stars and garters! When I picture a chaste Ginny I don't really mean around the parlor table. If Harry starts calling for a locksmith...

Nah, locksmiith's been done. To save Ginny from her MoO gear, remember? :-p

Penny Flamel came out of the woodwork on 2008.02.12 - 10:04PM to say:

Question: does Ginny have to be the Wolf, or were those just suggestions? I hope not, seeing as I'm about halfway through mine, and I don't really want to re-write it, cause it just wouldn't work...*curse my ignorance*

Ignore my question. re-read the rules...

I am amazed at how many of the entries are utilizing Ginny as the wolf. Although I sincerely believe that the correct comparison would be to a fox...or vixen as I believe the females are called.

I've received a few emails off-line voicing preferences about favorite versions of the song. If I really was Spenser I would refer to the Billy Bletcher/Marcellite Garner rendition. Oh sorry...they were the original Disney voices for The Big Bad Wolf and Minnie Mouse. Anyway, as I indicated in my story, my personal favorite is that with Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald. I've located a few other versions on the internet; some great and some awful. I won't say more. I let everyone decide on their own. Eric B.

I agree, I think almost all of the submissions have Ginny as the Wolf. Guess I'm the only person who thought Harry would do better with the part. I wonder why...

Kezzabear came out of the woodwork on 2008.02.16 - 05:11PM to say:

I have seen another Harry as the wolf one - can't remember who's it was though ... and *drumroll* goes to put up own rendition of story with Wolf!Harry *grins*.

Torak came out of the woodwork on 2008.02.16 - 07:07PM to say:

Personally, the three I like most are, in no particular order, the versions with Tom Jones and Cerys something, the Al Hirt and Ann-Margret version, and the one the Bare Naked Ladies did with, I think, some radio host or other.

As for wolves, Ginny always struck me as the more aggressive of the two - and of course hinting at Wolf!Ginny in the challenge spec probably didn't dissuade anyone...
