Twin Travel Challenge Update #3
Today, normally on the 15th of the month, you would expect the winners of the latest Challenge posted. However, since we had 35 stories submitted, it will take our judges quite a while to read all those stories and then judge them for the four categories available. So, once the deadline came June 30, the judges were given 19 days to read and choose their nominations for the title of Best Overall, Adventure, Time Travel, and Parenthood. The winning stories will be posted on July 20, five days later than normal.

To date, six judges have completed their work and submitted their nominations. It appears that five stories are begining to break out of the pack as some of the better-written stories for the four categories. But this could change as more judges submit their nominations to me. You all will have to wait five more days for this record-breaking Challenge to finally end. The best of luck to all who entered.

Spenser Hemmingway came out of the woodwork on 2008.07.15 - 10:10PM to say:

A discussion about our Challenges is always a good thing. We want our members and readers to learn from the experience, as if they were in school. SIYE is our home, and it is our job to make it a great experience. I have no idea what the next project will entail--my hacker elves are behind schedule. My best bet is that it has something to do with were-platypuses (platypi?) and a late night talk show. Eric

home, school, jobs, discussion- wow, sounds like my week here at Teacher Academy! Still, I doubt the Hogwarts crew would be visiting NC, USA to attend. Maybe it is supposed to be a discussion of how our job is to live at home and not at school. Oh, wait, I forgot-- only teachers need that discussion!

lilyevans_Jan30 came out of the woodwork on 2008.07.15 - 11:33PM to say:

It's the Real World - Hogwarts style!! A group of students from the four houses are forced to live, work, play, and study together in the Room of Requirement for a month, while all their activities are captured on wizard-closed circuit cameras. One by one they all visit the "confession room" to discuss their house mates and what they really think. So obvious. -Lilyevans_Jan30

Sovran came out of the woodwork on 2008.07.15 - 11:35PM to say:

You know, lilyevans, whatever the upcoming challenge is about . . . that one actually sounds like a lot of fun.

pokecharm came out of the woodwork on 2008.07.16 - 08:10AM to say:

I don't know if I feel better knowing or not knowing that there are only five stories really left in the running. Law of averages is working against most of us, isn't it ;)

Kezzabear came out of the woodwork on 2008.07.16 - 08:29AM to say:

I dunno that only five are left in the running ... who knows what the rest of the judges may vote on. Either way time sure is dragging slowly this month! :P Good Luck to the judges!

sanidad came out of the woodwork on 2008.07.16 - 09:37AM to say:

The law of averages was working against us from the beginning, wasn't it? Thirty-five entries... four categories... ~11% chance to win one of them... which could be ~22% if we get four ties. :P See, that's why I don't like to think of these things -- it makes my brain hurt. It's better to just enjoy the fact that I was able to get some feedback that a few people liked what I came up with.

What I think was great about this challenge is that there really seemed to be something for everyone - you didn't see the exact same people reviewing every story. What really appealed to one may not have been someone else's cup of tea (or Firewhisky, for that matter). But with 35 entries, we were really able to give the readership in general a treat.

And yes, I'm still sticking with my Real World theory. Hmmm, may have to suggest that one to Sir Ollivander for the future. -Lilyevans_Jan30

Fics by Fumph came out of the woodwork on 2008.07.17 - 06:23AM to say:

I don't envy the judges their task, as there were so many wonderful stories to chose from that it's going to be hard to pick the winners! It was a fantastic challenge, and I'm looking forward to taking part in the next one, whatever theme it might take.

Acrolepsia came out of the woodwork on 2008.07.18 - 12:29AM to say:

Has anyone ever thought about writting a fic in wich Harry is compelled to pick up the stone from the forrest? There could be several settings(e.g. Fred having to push George back into reality.)

Sir Ollivander came out of the woodwork on 2008.07.18 - 06:22PM to say:

Acrolepsia - HEY! Have you been peeking at my notes?

Spenser Hemmingway came out of the woodwork on 2008.07.18 - 07:19PM to say:

Sir Ollivander... Apparently I am not the only one with 'hacker-elves'. At the same time they have failed me with proper clues for the next. I think that they are angry with me about the diet butterbeer from the last party. They keep running around giggling something about Eleanor Roosevelt, but otherwise ignoring me, except for...curse you Perry the Platypus! Eric B.

gejufan came out of the woodwork on 2008.07.19 - 07:25AM to say:

this is intersting, i an wondering what this challange will be about. maybe discussions between harry and some of he adults in his life. or H&G are talking to the kids... mm that might be a good fic idea. *running to write it down so i won't forget*

alto came out of the woodwork on 2008.07.20 - 11:29AM to say:

Well, it's the 20th.. it's nearly noon EDST, and we still don't know who won.. WHO WON????

Fics by Fumph came out of the woodwork on 2008.07.20 - 12:01PM to say:

Echoing alto - WHO WON?????
