Comments Sir Ollivander came out of the woodwork on 2009.01.01 - 10:31AM to say: Okay...? Spenser Hemmingway came out of the woodwork on 2009.01.01 - 11:10AM to say: Sticks and stones may break my bones, but the cloth is that purple plaid and orange polka dot shirt has left me painfully blind. Hmm...I admit that I'm baffled for once (or rather the hundreth time...since breakfast). Maybe its a reference to how Wizards launder their clothing on a rock down by the river? I'm extremely pleased with the turnout for this current Challenge. This was a great theme and clearly difficult to keep to a reasonable length. I'm looking forward to diving into the pile. BrunetteGinny came out of the woodwork on 2009.01.01 - 01:45PM to say: Stick, Stone, Cloth ... maybe it's The Tale of the Three Brothers? M_And came out of the woodwork on 2009.01.01 - 04:19PM to say: Sorry, I accidently hit the submit button before I was ready (Time for a new mouse) I like BrunetteGinny's suggestion, though only Torak know for sure what he was going for. I've read some of the stories and they're really good. Going to be tough to pick them. Good luck to all the contestants, and a big shout out to Sir Ollivander for once again choosing a challenge that stretches us to be better writers. - Mike Torak came out of the woodwork on 2009.01.02 - 03:03AM to say: Nah, I think it's about H and G discovering an ancient forgotten flagpole stuck into a stone in the forest. Much hilarity ensues, as they try to figure out when exactly the French laid claim to a chunk of the Highlands. jennyelf came out of the woodwork on 2009.01.02 - 07:07AM to say: I think it's the Wizarding version of rock, paper, scissors, but using the Deathly Hallows. You know, the stick beats the cloth, the cloth beats the stone and the stone beats the stick. Well, you get the picture, right? Torak came out of the woodwork on 2009.01.02 - 07:11AM to say: But where do Lizard and Spock fit in? Spenser Hemmingway came out of the woodwork on 2009.01.02 - 08:57AM to say: The French in Scotland? Hmm...didn't they support Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobites? bransfolly came out of the woodwork on 2009.01.02 - 09:13AM to say: Spenser Hemmingway came out of the woodwork on 2009.01.02 - 08:57AM to say: The French in Scotland? Hmm...didn't they support Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobites? So if it is the French it obviously a white flag AriesGirl came out of the woodwork on 2009.01.02 - 11:34PM to say: My guess... stick, broom. stone, the stone of life. cloth, banner= house cup. (book 1 ?) hemmmm.... jennyelf came out of the woodwork on 2009.01.03 - 12:55AM to say: Ah, Lizard is none other than Harry, who kills (poisons) Spock, who is none other than the evil Voldie (I know not a calm peaceful image that is normally attained by the name Spock). But still I think it works. ginny_lola came out of the woodwork on 2009.01.15 - 06:46AM to say: Erm.....huh? Torak came out of the woodwork on 2009.01.15 - 11:06AM to say: You know Rock-Paper-Scissors? In an episode of The Big bang Theory - helpfully titled "The Lizard Spock Expansion" - they postulated an advanced version with lizards and Spock as well. ginny_lola came out of the woodwork on 2009.01.15 - 12:22PM to say: Oh....I get it now. And I remember that now! *sigh* I love that show. HluvsG4eva came out of the woodwork on 2009.01.23 - 05:25AM to say: Could be a reference to the Deathly Hallow?? no? quinn came out of the woodwork on 2009.01.26 - 05:38PM to say: Bugger. Jennyelf, I went the same way in my guess on the newer post. Ah well, minus one in originality for me, I suppose. jennyelf came out of the woodwork on 2009.01.31 - 12:21PM to say: no, quinn, it just means great minds think alike. :) | |||||||||||
