Dear SIYE Patrons,

As has become our custom, I am beginning our semi-annual fundraiser. SIYE runs on a volunteer basis and makes no money from advertising or subscriptions to access the archive. In order to cover our bills and keep the site running, we solicit donations. We use donations for only two purposes: paying the hosting (Internet service) bill and securing the domain name. This amounts to approximately $100 per month (because of the amount of traffic). The staff donates their time and draws no wage or salary in return for their services. We hold SIYE funds in a bank account independent from any staff member’s personal bank account.

The staff and SIYE community in general would appreciate your generosity in the form of any amount of support you feel you are able and willing to offer. Our primary means of collecting donations is PayPal, and I have attached a link below this message. If you are not comfortable with PayPal but really do want to donate, please contact me directly and we can discuss other options with which we both can feel comfortable.

Update: Many thanks to everyone who has donated this past week. Without you, SIYE would not be possible, not without some major differences. We quite nearly made it all the way to $1200. We'll hold another fund official fund drive in February to, and hopefully that will put us over the top and give us some cushion for  the the year after. RLS
