It felt very rushed and exactly like canon. If you want to skip huge periods of time, you can just summarize your differences instead of skimming the year. I can't imagine they would have befriended Hermione so easily. Harry and Ginny have their 'new' friendship - they've never seen each other before and its new having the actual person instead of just in dreams. Hermione didn't go out of her way to make friends and she doesn't add anything to the story line, she and Ron aren't going to become best friends without another reason and they don't have one in this story. You've done such a good job in setting up Harry and Ginny's bond, but you don't show his friendship with the Ron and Hermione in any detail and just assume they would be as inseparable as ever. In previous chapters Ron was suspicious of Harry and now they are best mates. Instead of relying so much on canon, show us how the different relationship between Harry and Ginny affects their relationship with others.

The sorting scene was very interesting and enlightening. Now we know that the two of them cover the strengths of all four houses.

It's Ginevra not Ginerva. You have it that way throughout the Sorting scene. Hopefully, the next years will be more detailed.
