Harry wants her to be there when he comes home, that’s bad. It is not a good sign, that Harry has secrets from Ginny. I'm not sure if Harry is lying about Dumbledore having objections against Ginny's involvement. I believe it's Harry who is having those objections.
When Ginny consents to stand back, she will lose Harry. She will no longer be the Ginny, who Harry loved, when he comes back after he defeated Tom. Either the both of them continue to develop simultaneously or their relationship will fail. I cannot imagine that Harry is satisfied with a wallflower-Ginny til the end of his life. I hope that Ginny is strong enough to kick him in the ass and get his head clear.
I need to continue reading quickly. If the both of them are not completely united again soon, I will not find a good night sleep tonight.

Author's Response: The idea that Harry wants Ginny to be there for him isn't bad at all. He realizes that he needs someone to come back to and what could be better than his girlfriend's arms? It's as if he's made her the anchor holding his boat in place, and I think she will gladly take on that role, once she understands that she needs to be stronger than ever so that if something happens while Harry, Ron and Hermione are away, Harry will find his way home. So no, there will not be a wallflower Ginny in this story! Thanks for reading.

I so enjoyed Ron's frustrated, almost explosive, explanation to Ginny about why Harry had chosen not to share what is currently happening with Ginny. After reading DH I was frustrated with Ginny being left behind and her lack of appearance in the story having loved how they got together in HBP. Your explanation (though Ron!) just made so much sense, and I found it emotional but also very satisfactory. I wish JKR had gone into it in more depth as I always found the "protection" explanation on its own unsatisfactory and not believable.

Maybe if they meet up at Hogwarts ginny will get to "help" and as a result feel useful rather than left out. I am presuming at sometime Harry is going to "go away" so he can "return home"..but then again the term return home could simply be a figure of speech and might be coming to the place that means home to him...be it Ginny or The Burrow or both...?

Author's Response: I've discovered that a lot of what goes into my stories seems to have been theories and thoughts I've had about what goes on in canon. I, too, was very disappointed in the fact that Ginny was relegated to the sidelines in DH with just Harry's explanation of wanting to keep her safe. Ron seemed to be the one closest to Harry who would give her the straight answer she needs in order to accept what's to come. So... at this point in time, I'll only say that you're partially right about Harry's comings and goings and that yes, Ginny will be given the opportunity to make herself useful. Finally, Hogwarts and The Burrow are still the two places Harry considers "home" and "home" is also beginning to take the shape of wherever Ginny is for him, too. I hope this helps with your questions. Thanks for your commens. The next chapter is back to Harry's point of view.

I do like this chapter. Good take on Ron and Ginny's discussion about Harry and how he wants to keep Ginny safe. I also liked "the Look" - I think most parents learn it, I used to se my own doing it, too. The bit that struck me as most amusing and in charcter was Ron wanting to read the letter from Harry as well. Very Ron. Thanks SF

Author's Response: This was a fun chapter to write, especially since I was exploring the dynamics of the Weasley family without Harry or Hermione tossed into the mix. You're right about most parents learning "The Look"... my husband and I do it all the time when we're discussing family matters. I'm glad you think I got Ron right, too. Thanks for the nice review.

it was good to have chapter from Ginny's point of view again
I like the way that you've included parts from HBP, such as Bill and Fleur, into the story

Author's Response: As an author, I'm trying to stay as close to current canon as possible; later in the story I work in things from DH as well as HBP. If you keep reading, you'll discover that the chapters alternate between a Harry and a Ginny point of view. That way, you get to see various situations from a global perspective rather than just one person's point of view. Keep reading... I think you'll enjoy the rest of the story. Thanks for the review. ~Arnel

Excellent; I rather enjoyed the family dynamics. (I'm the eldest of 4 kids; I have some appreciation for that sort of thing.)

And I can readily imagine Harry withdrawing (from the world) to the point of catatonia were something to happen to force a separation from Ginny (if he didn't control the separation and couldn't rescue her).

Author's Response: I'm glad you appreciate the closeness Ron and Ginny have developed; their relationship is the exact opposite of the one in my family and I wanted to explore what an open, easy conversation between sibilings in this chapter. I'm glad you think it was believeable. As for Harry, I think he's made of stronger stuff than he's made out to be in many stories. I'm not saying that he wouldn't withdraw for a short time, but because of all the support he has now he'll find it within himself to conquer his emotions and focus at the task he's been given. If he couldn't rescue Ginny, he'd have it out with Voldemort anyway and dedicate his "win" in her name! That's something I could see him doing. Thanks for your review.

You did a good job in capturing a more mature relationship between Ron and Ginny, something we don't see too often in either fan fic or canon. Kudos to you for exploring this fertile ground, and I hope we get to see more of it (not very subtle, was i?)

It appears from both chapters 1 and 2 that Harry will be leaving Privet Drive early for Hogwarts. while we've not had canon explanations of how long Harry must stay to renew the wards, will you mention anything about that, even with his 17th birthday looming in a little more than a month?

Can't wait to see Ron and Ginny visit Harry, especially if you cross that with Harry's new relationship with Dudley. A lot of interesting developments to look forward to! Thanks, Arnel!

Best, Jim

Author's Response: I'm glad you approve of a more mature portrayal of Ron and Ginny. I agree that it's about time they started acting like adults toward each other. Originally, Harry was going to leave Privet Drive after a week, but I decided that a two-week stay was more in canon (that's how long he stayed in HBP). When he does leave, Harry will go to Hogwarts because he needs another check-up from Madam Pomfrey and he will be attending meetings with Dumbledore about his role in the war against Voldemort. In the meantime, chapter three holds more Dudley and in chapter four Ron and Ginny have tea with Harry, so there are some interesting developments coming up indeed! Thanks for your review.

Lovely chapter! Ron and Ginny are often fighting in fanfic stories and it's nice to read them begin civil and caring towards one another. I think it shows a level of maturity and growth for both characters that I would expect them to have after the events they've been through. Nicely done.

I'm looking forward to reading some Harry and Ginny interactions next chapter.

Author's Response: I'm glad you liked the chapter. Since both Ron and Ginny are nearing the end of their tenure at Hogwarts it was definitely time the acted more maturely towards each other. In chapter three we're back to Harry, so you'll have to wait for chapter four for more Ron/Ginny interaction. Thanks for your review.

Great story so far. I'm glad to see a sequel to your two previous stories, especially New Year, New Hope. I like the brother-sister time between Ginny and Ron. You don't see much of that in the books. I hope Ron and Ginny get to visit Harry and can't wait to see how the weekend goes with Ron, Ginny, Harry and Neville. Please update soon.

Author's Response: I think all your wishes will be granted in future chapters. Chapter four is about Ron and Ginny's meeting with Harry. I'm glad you like the Ron/Ginny scenes. I had fun writing them. Thanks for your review.

Very good chapter. It had a nice easy flow to the story.

I really liked the scene between Ron and Ginny when he was swinging her around and then talking about Harry. There's not enough of that kind of sibling interaction with the two of them in most fanfic. I'd liked to have seen a bit more in canon too :). And yay! for a nice scene with Hedwig, I know that she really didn't fit into DH well (where could Harry have left her that she'd be safe? ) but I never expected her fate and I miss her.

And Arnel, your take on Dudley from last chapter could just about be considered canon now after DH! Even the artwork at the beginning of DH's chapter 3 ( US edition ) could be used as a picture of your version of Dudley and Harry IMHO. Well done.

Looking forward to the next chapter.

Author's Response: Miri, your comment about the Chapter 3 US edition artwork made me dive for my book to take a look and I agree with you. Thanks for pointing that out. As for the Ron/Ginny scenes, this is the kind of interaction I thought they would have now that they both were nearly adults (or in Ron's case of age). They have a mutual interest in Harry and I think Ron realized how much he loves his sister when she fell from her broom in New Year, New Hope. I'm glad Hedwig made you cheer. Her death in DH had me in tears although I agree that she wouldn't be safe anywhere and probably would try to find Harry if he told her to stay with someone. There is more Hedwig coming up in future chapters. Thanks for reviewing. I look forward to your comments on Chapter 3.
