> ‘I’ve just told you, Ron, it’s Saturday evening,’ said Harry.

No, he just told him it's Friday evening.

Author's Response: Well spotted. Fixed.

love your storys, though i dont think the Joke part of the twins shop would not be the biggest part of it, nor that Ron would take over part of it like that. but that is such a small part and certainly not enough for me to not enjoy the story, but i am getting of topic, you write in this chapter:

"
‘I need to tell you about the Deathly Hallows,’ he began.

‘The fairy-tale Hallows?’ Ginny gasped, then her eyes widened in understanding. ‘The book Dumbledore left to Hermione.’"

but there is no mention of the word hallows in that fairy-tale as mr lovegood himself says

"That is a children's tale, told to amuse rather than to instruct. Those of us who understand these matters, however, recognize that the ancient story refers to three objects, or Hallows, which, if united, will make the possessor master of Death."

Author's Response: Thanks for the review
Given the number of school age kids in the wizarding world, and the fact that the twins had already diversified into protection gear by the time of HBP, I disagree, but as you say, that's a minor point. JKR tells us that Ron joins the Auror office and that he works with George in WWW. The method of his becoming a partner is mine, but the idea is not.
You are, of course, correct about the Hallows. I will put a rewrite of this chapter on my "to do" list. Thanks for pointing out my error.

That has been a very long and emotional day. I'm amazed Harry didn't pass out in the middle of it because of sheer emotional exhaustion. The Ron/Harry scene was a strong one and not at all out of character for Ron. He can be unreasonable and mean, especially when he's upset. And Harry can be aggressive when he's upset. You did very good with both of them.
Poor Hermione, she intended the best for her parents and it fired back on her. Another good observation. I can't agree with the fanfics which picture her reunion with her parents easy going and trouble free, either. There's bound to be some tension about all the things she kept from her parents.
It's very touching that Arthur is more worried what happens to Harry if he and Ginny break up than about his own daughter. It shows that Harry really has become another son for him and Molly.
Again, very good writing!

Author's Response: The Harry/Ron scene was (in my opinion) essential to clear the air between the two young men. I’m not sure that Arthur is MORE concerned about Harry. AS concerned, definitely. Surely any parent would realise how catastrophic for Harry a split could be. -N-

Could this day be any more emotional? Well tomorrow may well be. I liked how Harry stood his ground with Ron and then the brothers. Mr Weasley is truely a father figure to Harry. Ron's situation with the Grangers seems precarious. But, hopeful all will be worked out once they are over their anger.

Author's Response:
There seems to be a lot of shouting and crying going on, doesn’t there? But we’re still only six days after the battle, with funerals still to come.

Arthur is a good Dad (in my opinion). He’s seen a lot over the years. So has Molly.

Northumbrian continues his first-rate take on the days after the Battle of Hogwarts. I really dont know enough great things to say about this fic. Outstanding! Truly epic writing! Excellent use of plotting, characterisation, writing style, and every Character comletely spot-on. Just—wow! And with every Chapter it keeps getting better. What else can I say? This may well be the best HP Fanfic I've ever read, it's certainly up there with the best of them. :)

Bravo!

Author's Response: Thank you there isn't really much more I can say to this. -N-

Nice chapter. I LOVED the scene between Harry and Arthur and how Arthur got to him. Figures Hermione has to interrupt yet again. Heh, she always seems to bump him out of his emotional release.

I liked the strong confrontation between Harry and Ron, as well. Ron needs swomeone to be blunt with him, and I was disappointed in his behaviour. Ginny's understanding of how the Horcrux affected him was great. I also enjoyed Molly putting her foot down to keep the others in line.

Still, we haven't addresed Harry's own issues or how he's dealing with things. He did avoid them all for some time, and I hope you're going to get back to it. I'm enjoying the ride you're taking us all onl.

Author's Response:
Arthur is a good Dad, I’m glad you enjoyed that scene. I always though that the main concern for the Weasleys about the H/G relationship would be the “what if they break up” question. Harry is part of their family. Who else does he have? Harry is seventeen, Ginny sixteen, and they’ve just been through (are still going through) a very emotional time.

Ron kissed Hermione for the first time a week ago, within days she was distraught and he was looking at the possibility of not seeing her for months. Then he sees Harry and Ginny together and happy. He is being mean.

I hope you continue to enjoy the ride.

Excellent chapter. I love how Harry set Ron straight - he needed to be called on his behavior towards Hermione. Poor Hermione - I feel bad for her, but I think it is a very realistic reaction. I've never understood how many stories have her parents just except what happened so easily. I don't think most parents would.

Author's Response:
I agree (obviously) (-;

Also, Hermione’s parents see less and less of their daughter the older she gets. She often stays at school (or goes to The Burrow) at Christmas and as she gets older she seems to spend more time with the Weasleys over the summer than she does at home (I wonder what the attraction is?). Then she alters their memory.

Many authors have taken the viewpoint that Ron, ( and the brothers) will have problems with H/G getting back together. I don't agree with that myself, but I'm glad to see you've resolved the issue in any case, though I thought the tone of Ron and Harry's discussion a bit harsh, given the fact the discussion was between two friends who are (in essence) dating each other's sisters.

I was glad to see you bring out Ginny's compassion, since I see you're of the opinion that she has a temper. And of course she does, but it is not hair-trigger as many have portrayed. As you properly noted, Hermione lost her temper many more times than Ginny did.

Hope you will have Harry help resolve the situation with Hermione's parents. He is in the best positon to do so. He knows all about doing your duty.

Author's Response:
The tone was harsh. Ron was being unreasonable, for his own unreasonable reasons, and Harry was close to losing his temper. In my opinion Harry tends to get aggressive when he’s upset.

Ginny constantly surprises me. She’ll constantly surprise Harry, too. While I do agree, ginny (it seems to me) is shown to be at her most forceful (and unreasonable) when she’s defending Harry. I think that’s true right back to the Malfoy confrontation in CoS.

I enjoyed this chapter for many different reasons. Including Fleur agreeing with Molly about Harry and Ginny. What I found most surprisng, however, was Arthur's success at getting Harry to agree to take things slow with Ginny--the argument he used that Harry was part of the family and he didn't want to lose Harry like Percy if things went awry was not an obvious one(Ron's use of the she's obsessed with you and you are taking advantage of her was pretty despicable by comparison--even if he is jet-laggged and worried about Hermione, the implicit assumptions about both Harry and Ginny are pretty disturbing--Harry is a predator and Ginny is an incompetent). I had wondered in one of your flash forward stories about how Arthur had gotten that promise and using the Weasley's affection for Harry and concern about losing him was great. And it probably was the best argument to convince him.

I don't really have any problem with Bill and Charley(and Percy) thinking that Ginny is younger than she actually is--they haven't really seen her mature and grow up so they do still think of her as being abotu 12. Ginny's support for Ron and how he had been mis-led by the locket horcux was another surprising choice---but one that makes a lot of sense. Ginny does know better than anyone how hard it is to ignore Voldemort.

Its nice to be surprised when reading a story set in this time period.

Author's Response:
I see Molly and Arthur as good, if cunning, parents. They often plan, and (IMO) actively use the good cop/bad cop technique to try to control their brood. It seemed obvious (to me anyway) that Arthur and Molly would take a long view. Harry is also Ron’s friend and any break up or argument between H & G could be catastrophic for the entire family, with brothers and parents falling out. Again IMO I see them accepting harry into the family (they already have, but they’re waiting to see more. It’s nice to see how much you’re reading into my tale.

I am horrible to Ron (and Hermione). Ron’s annoyance is really jealousy when he can see nothing beyond being parted from Hermione, perhaps that doesn’t come across strongly enough.

I agree regarding Bill and Charlie, though Charlie learns a hard lesson in the next chapter. Ginny’s support for Ron came from her, that was not what I originally planned, but Ginny forcefully told me otherwise. (-;

It's nice to be able to surprise people, I hope that there are a few more surprises to come.

ps Fred and Georges Busy Day fills in some of the details about Dumbledore’s Free Army, as mentioned in chapter three, I’d be interested in what you think.
