Apparently we have a very gray version of the leader of the light in this story. This Dumbledore would rather bite off his tongue before he tells Harry the truth about his life. Unfortunately, this is also very close to canon. Your chapter title, seemingly a simple parallel of canon referring to Quirrell, has a brilliant double meaning with the two Dumbledore explanation scenes before and after the obliviation. The contrast is so stark, to take us from the high-conflict of a Harry and Ginny who have his manipulations all figured out to an almost word-for-word (or was it actually word-for-word?) retelling of the innocent scene from canon. I love the hints you gave that this more powerful Harry is already breaking through the memory charm (and, really, can Ginny be far behind?), and I'm looking forward to the drama that will certainly ensue once he succeeds. And, as always, I look forward to the continuation of this lovely version of the H/G romance! Reviewer: carolyn jinn Signed Date: 2014.12.19 - 01:29AM Title: The Man With Two Faces
