Peculiar vacancy...I'm thinking hard but not coming up with anything (yet!

Author's Response: You will. :-) -N-

This chapter reminded me of many of the things I don't like about Hermione - her stubborn, snobbiness for one. I'm glad Luna was there to guide them down the right path.

Author's Response:

Author's Response: Hermione is, I'm afraid, used to being cleverer than "the boys". Luna is a different matter. -N-

This is getting more and more intriguing. Can't wait to find out what happens next.

Author's Response: I promise that the wait won't be so long (that should be an easy promise to keep). -N-

As there is no other way to communicate with you (I don't think), I'm wondering if you plan to finish this story. It's been over a year since your last update and I'd be terribly disappointed if you just didn't get to it. I love your stories and your writing is superb.
I'm hoping you will get back to this story, soon.

Author's Response: Hi
The next chapter (Prey -Badger and Raven Go Hunting) is 5700 words and will be 6000+ when its ready to be beta-read. The Chapter after that (Prey - A Spotters Guide to British Dragons) is a mere 2000 words, but it's progressing.

I read what exists of this story so far on SIYE a few months ago, and I've noticed that you've paused in posting the story here while you appear to be catching it up on MNFF. Is the Mugglenet version the same, or are you updating it? Would it be worthwhile to read the newly posted version if I've already read this one?

Just curious...love all your stories and anxiously await the next update!

Author's Response:
Good question. Hunters and Prey stalled, due to my realisation that the final chapters would not work the way I’d planned them. I’ve been slowly teasing out the end of this tale (which will be seventeen chapters). I’ve been rewriting (or, more accurately – re-editing) this story in order to make sure that the final chapters fit properly. I’m currently working on chapter 11 and my plan is to get all chapters beta read (for MNFF).
Despite this, my “rule one” is that every Harry/Ginny story I write is submitted to SIYE first. This place is my original home. I intend to get this story completed and, when I finally submit chapter 15 here (first) I will update the earlier chapters too. Hope this helps.

Alright, so this might be a long review.

Sorry about that.

Anyway, I think I have now read through your entire stock of H/G, and frankly, I'm deeply enamoured. You're just great, y'know?

You have this vast, sprawling canon over your own, all of which is true to the original characters (including the extended canon); you make tactful use of developed OCs; and your writing style is pitched just right, smooth and smart, just like JK herself did. In short, you work is basically the best development of the 19 Years between that I've encountered so far. And, you come from- or have sensibly based yourself- within the good half of the good half of England, which really is all the icing I could ask for.

Anyway, I'm gushing. I'm sure the sincerity of this may seem a little dubious, but remember, this is actually the review that about 8 different stories are due, so it's inevitably a little- ahem- concentrated.

As a small aside, I want to say that I hope this hasn't been abandoned, just back-burnered. I realise that you've got at least 4 other stories running, and a whole life to be leading, and that they're your priorities, but I hope this is returned to soon.

All in all, I am enormously looking forward to the next update of anything really. You're marvellous.

P.S.
Apologies for all the gushing, it seems to be compulsive. Oh, and for the badgering, I realise you must put up with a lot of that.

Author's Response:
I like long reviews, honest!

Many of my original characters are/were developed in other (non-H/G) stories – Fenella Gray (from several stories) took the lead role in “Summer of ‘97” and that allowed me to get to know her. Others (like Polly Protheroe) turn up in “Tales of the Battle” and other stories.

Northumbrian by name and location, I set a lot of stories (like this one) in places that I know because, frankly it’s easier. Plus, I do live in the best bit of England, though many southerners arent even sure whether it is England or Scotland.

This is actually a lot closer to completion than A&S, so my current plan is:
1: Get the next chapters of Strangers and Dragon to Amelíe this weekend.
2: Continue the rewrite of this and finish the final three chapters.
3: Do NOT enter any more story challenges.
4: Finish the silly Christmas Story before Christmas
5: Get back to work on A&S.

I loved your Drakeshaugh story so much I had to go back and read all your stories in order. (Some I was rereading). I'm glad I did! Things make a bit more sense. You go back and forth between voices and characters so easily it's makes each story unique and enjoyable to read. It's been awhile since this one was updated. I hope it's in your plans to update this one as well.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
It has been a very long time since this was updated, far to long, especially as it's closer to completion than both "Aurors" and "Strangers". I hope to have it finished before Christmas. Provided that my job doesn't go crazy on me again.

This may be my favorite story out of all of those you have written. I am excited to see what happens next. I just wanted to say thanks for all the work that you put into your stories. I think you do an amazing job with staying true to Harry Potter canon while also coming up with your own new elements.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review and sorry for the delay in my reply. There will be more next month, I expect. I had hoped to have this story completed by the end of June, that now looks unlikely. But the end is in sight. -N-

Just picked up on this story and couldn't put it down until I got to this point. A great story and love your writing style which has caused me ti go on to read your other stories as well. George cannot honestly be providing illegal potions? I guess I will have to wait and see where this goes.

Author's Response:
Thanks for the review.

I hope that you enjoy my other stuff too. This is almost certainly more violent and angsty than most of my other stories (at least I think it is, but I’m a notoriously bad judge). As for George, you're right! :-D you'll have to wait and see.

Thanks for sharing.

Finally everything comes together. Seems like Linny is being a bit overdramatic with her assertion that that Harry would cover up George's supposedly criminal actions. At least I hope he did not knowingly produce and sell a dangerous potion to Linny. Especially since he, presumably, would have had to sell a large quantity in order to cover the group's needs, I also loved Harry's observations about Ron's renewed "support" of Hermione's every opionion now that she finally made up with him. It is true of most couples in their position and annoying to outsiders...

Author's Response:
Thanks for the review.

Linny certainly seems to be more confident than she should be. What involvement does George have?

I found it interesting that Ron always supported Hermione after they’d made up, even when they were younger. They acted like a couple long before they were a couple.

Ooh, more intrigue! Another good chapter. I loved Ginny's comment about getting a room. She certainly knows how to wind Ron up. And Luna triumphs. :-) Can't wait for more.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I think that Ginny enjoys winding up all of her brothers (in fact, that’s the plot (such as I is) of Swimsuit Quidditch). Luna finds it easier to think outside the box than Hermione. -N-

Finally an update! I love this story and this chapter is great. It keeps us involved, wondering about the details of the plot, on one hand, and worrying about Ginny and what she is going through. But we don't forget about Lavender and Dacia's family and what they are going through. You are really juggling very well all those bits of plots and subplots.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review, and sorry for the delay. At least my (not Harry/Ginny) story Tales os the Battle is now finally complete and I can concentrate on this, and Aurors and Schoolgirls, and Strangers at Drakeshaugh and … and … I must not enter the next challenge. This story is now heading towards its climax. -N-

Excellent update. I just went back and reread each story line by itself (it's much easier to follow that way) and can't wait to see what happens next.

Author's Response: Thanks. At least I'm only workingto one timeline from now on. -N-

Wonderful! The twists and turns get tighter and tighter. So now poor George is involved. And Daphne G., the Slytherin connection. I can't wait for more!

Author's Response: Thanks, more soon (relatively speaking). What is Daphne's involvement? How is Lavender? Where is Lestrange? -N-

Nicely plotted. You've managed to include canon at several poitns to support the characters actions, while also being very creative. Thanks. And the hints you have dropped are turning out to be more significant than I had realized at the time.

Author's Response: Thanks. Things are rapidly moving towards a conclusion, though I'll warn you in advance. Don't expect all of the loose ends to be tied up. (I have a sequle planned). -N-
