Things seems to be quite smoothly...but for how long?

I think Fleur is making Hermione confront what she has done...she maybe left Harry accidentally but by not returning immediately after escaping the snatchers she did make her choice.

Author's Response: Thanks! I think Fleur is one of the few people who might be able to get through to Hermione.

Two things . . .
First, thank you so much for your very prompt updates. You have a great touch for leaving us wanting more.
Second, I really appreciate your characterizations--each character seems very true to what JKR has written. Also, I really enjoy your twists on cannon. Poor Harry--I get the sense that he's always surprised when someone sticks with him, so he'd be so devastated (yet completely unsurprised) when R and H left him.

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm a glad you are enjoying it :)

Excellent!
Tiny remark:Ginny made a face as they passed the Vanishing Cabinet that had let Death Eaters into the school last year. Luckily it had been disabled once again, so it could not be used to breach the school.
Aaaah, but would it not have been a wonderful tool to escape the school? :D

Now to get to the cup.....how on earth are you going to incorporate that.

Author's Response: I had to laugh because I am writing the evacuation of the school now, that would have been a good idea :)

I like how you've explored Harry, Hermione and Ron's friendship and summed it up in this story. Another good chapter, you explore the relationships rather than placing emphasis on retelling of canon. Thanks for sharing.

Author's Response: Thanks! Glad you are enjoying it :)

interesting chapter. I enjoyed the talk between Fleur and Hermione, it's about time someone set Hermione straight
I'm glad Harry's not being a noble prat in this story and pushing Ginny away and I'm looking forward to reading more

Author's Response: Thanks! I thought Hermione needed to hear what happened from another source, I thought she would listen to Fleur.

One AU element you have not tied to Harry is the fact that Shacklebolt is still an auror in your story. I don't see how anything Harry did could have caused that. I can see how you used him to bring up certain points in this chapter but I am still left with the question of why he's still there. I wonder if Robards was trying to protect Kingsley by interrupting about Pansy as I don't think he would be the type to actually believe that her activities were an innocent prank - unless he was imperiused. As for Snape's warning about Ginny needing to hide, I was a little surprised that he'd be so direct, especially in front of someone not in the order (Robards).

It was odd to have Fleur with no accent. I know it is hard to write (which is why I avoid it myself) but it is part of her character. I was very disappointed in Hermione to not have already seen for herself that she had chosen Ron over Harry. She is often using her intellect to analyze others and ought to have applied that to herself as well. She should also be more careful about arguing with Fleur - the champion of a major school of magic would be a formidable person in their own right and Hermione didn't seem to consider this. Your story is showing the flaws of Ron and Hermione and I have already had enough of Ron and won't miss Hermione either. However, I do hope they get a chance at redemption - if Ron can get his head straight, otherwise just Hermione.

I liked how Harry and Ginny were coming to appreciate different aspects of each other - their relationship is deepening. I sometimes marvel at the arrogance of Voldemort and one example is his foolish assumption that only he knew about the room of requirement. He must think that the items in the room of hidden things appear magically and don't need to be placed by a person. He is paying for his arrogance, he just doesn't realize it yet. The final confrontation is becoming easier as the horcruxes fall to the sword of Gryffindor. I'm still curious as to how you'll handle the unintended one.

Another example of Voldemort's arrogance is encountering powerful magical objects and not investigating them. He might not be very interested in bringing back the dead but he could have learned something from the ring. The diadem could also have been a learning experience. It was a nice touch for the diadem to be able to repair itself once freed from the dark magic.

errata:
something of that belonged to Ravenclaw
something that belonged to Ravenclaw

What’s diadem
What’s a diadem

I hid my potion’s book
I hid my potions book

Author's Response: Thanks for the review! I don't know exactly when Kingsley went on the run, but it worked better for me to keep him at the Ministry. I really can't write with a French accent, so I don't attempt it, lame I know, but I figure better than my poor attempts. Like many evil people, Voldemort's arrogance is his undoing. Imagine if he didn't feel the need to sermonize, he could have killed Harry at the graveyard.

So much easy to destroy than it was having Malfoy and his henchmen.

I enjoyed this chapter. It was good to see Fleur get a moment of showing her insight--when she points out to Hermione that from Harry's perspective she made a choice of Ron over Harry. I don't know who else could have told her that besides Fleur.

I was a little surprised that no one knows the story about the basilisk. It seems like Snape would have heard that story before now.

Thanks again.

Author's Response: Thanks! I thought Fleur would be someone Hermione would listen to. About the Basilisk, I figure it would be almost an Urban Legend and people wouldn't know what to believe or they would dismiss it out of hand as false.

so are you keeping with the idea that Harry is also a Horcrux? How will Ginny handle THAT?

Author's Response: I have a plan, hopefully it will work out :)

I'm really enjoying your story. Keep up the good work. I'm glad Harry is not going to try and send Ginny away from him. I look forward to seeing how they deal with the Trace once they leave Hogwarts. I'm also wondering if Harry will find out he is a Horcrux sooner, and how they will deal with it.

Author's Response: Thanks!
