It is always hard to know how much to do for a disabled person, how much to help, especially when you are not quite sure of what they are actually able to do for themselves. Ginny and Harry really need to talk about this.

Author's Response: It's definitely obvious that they haven't. Harry's been closed off and unapproachable for so long that Ginny really doesn't know how to act around him. However, she also hasn't made the effort to do so, so I think they're both in the wrong, don't you?

I can understand ginny jumping to help Harry. It must be hard to watch someone struggling to do something and know you could do it quicker. In fact I think you might feel guilty at letting them do it themselves. But she has to listen to what Harry wants. I think the children will learn more quickly than her. I do think she was wrong not to tell him about the changes to the house. My heart went out to him as he was anticipating the view of the house. I know she realises she was hasty in making the changes, we've all done that, but to then not mention them...

Great for Harry to race his sons (and win!) in the pool.

And let's not forget Draco...?

Author's Response: This particular chapter had all of my pre-betas in a flap over what Ginny was doing to Harry, so I don't blame you for being upset at her. At least he was able to show his sons that he's not as helpless as Ginny seems to think when he beat them in the swimming race. I enjoyed writing that section of the chapter because it was a happy highlight in many respects for Harry.

Excellent! You truly understand. I am disabled and if anybody like Ginny treated me like she did Harry I would have blown my top! She is so close to the problem,. the poor dear does not see that Harry has to be normal and normality means doing things by yourself, thank you very much!

Oh no! Poor Draco and Scorpios.... I cannot wait to see this drama unfold.

Oh Ginny dear.... you need the objective eyes of Hermione!

Author's Response: When she first read this chapter the friend who is helping me nearly blew her top and scolded me up one side and down the other for having Ginny act like she does. Once she calmed down, though, we talked at length about what was needed to bring everything into perspective--both with Ginny and Harry and their children--and the next few chapters deal with Ginny and how she's feeling. I also deal with Harry's feelings as well as the children's. As for Draco and Scorpius, all I'll say is that the Malfoy family has an interesting holiday together. Thank you for writing to me and letting me know I'm on the right track for how Harry would feel in the situation he finds himself in with his wife.

Great Chapter! I can't wait for more!

Author's Response: I'm so glad you like my story. I'll be publishing another chapter this coming Thursday. See you then...

The scene where Harry is out in the garage with the Ferrari makes my heart break for him. The 'newest' section with Ginny and the tea in the hotel room- was so well done and so needed there. It helped to explain a whole lot about how she is feeling and I wasn't left annoyed or angry at her at all for how she's feeling and treating Harry. It's so realistic, what you are portraying and the emotions that the two characters are coping with are written in a way that I feel what they are feeling when I read this. I hope things turn a corner and get better soon regarding H and G's relationship and they can figure out what works now that their lives have changed so drastically. Great work.

Author's Response: The fact that I added several scenes to this chapter as a result of your indignation on Harry's part is a testimony to how valuable you are to me as a beta reader. I sincerely appreciate all the time and effort you put into helping me smooth out the narrative and patch the holes in the action. As for the scene in the garage, Harry could very easily have hand controls to be installed in the Ferrari through the National Health System, but he knows it won't be the same driving experience he'd get as a walking driver. There's also a symbolic part to the scene, too. So much has collapsed of his former life and he's barely beginning to get a handle on his new mode of living, that he's trying to control anything and everything he can. Ginny's actions and decisions concerning the house have left him wondering who controls the family: her, him or both... By deciding to give away his Ferrari, he's controlling what happens to it and as sad as it is, he feels empowered by the decision he comes to in that scene. Harry and Ginny definitely need some time together talking and not fighting to discover where they're going as a couple, not just forward into the future, but whether they do it together or separately. Thanks for the kind review. See you Thursday...

Well, that was interesting. I guess I was kind of expecting a merrier chapter now that they're all together and home and it's Christmas and everything, but this version makes a lot more sense. Of course it's not going to be smooth sailing at first.

I think everyone understands why Harry's so upset, seeing that he's just starting to get his confidence back and learning to adjust, and then his wife of all people acts as if he can't do anything for himself. That would be incredibly frustrating. But then again, I completely understand Ginny, as well. It must be so hard to watch someone you love so much go through such trouble, and she's still very worried about him. Even though he's making great progress, he's still recovering and he's still learning, and it's not like she thinks he can't do stuff, it's more like she wants to show him he doesn't always have to strain himself, that they're all there to help. She's done a lot to help him, too, the best she could, with the renovations; never mind him not thanking her for it, he's actually angry with her?

No wonder they're bickering. Seeing that they're both adults, though, and their fighting bothers the children, you'd think they'd try to talk it out. Maybe next Thursday?

Author's Response: Thanks.

Author's Response: Speaking as a parent, I think it would be hard on any family the first few days after the children come home from an extended period of time away from home, for everyone to readjust to being a family again. I say this because the parents have become accustomed to not worrying constantly about where their children are and whethery or not they're getting into trouble and the children are having to cope with close parental supervision when they've been more independent and responsible for themselves while at school. I commend you for recognizing what's going on in the Potter family dynamics. And yes, there's hope that something good will happen in next Thursday's chapter. Until then, then...

As someone who has always wanted a Ferrari, I had tears in my eyes whenI read the garage scene. The struggles to be a family again. To accept and get used to the new. Well done.

Author's Response: Thanks for the great review. I dream about owning a Ferrari, too, so it was fun to give Harry one--his discretionary income being what it is. I'm sorry I upset you with the garage scene, but things like this happen in real life and a scene like this needed to go int the story. Eventually, over the next several chapters the Potter family will learn to live together again, I promise.

Harry's anger and short temper is totally understood but what confuses me is why Ginny cannot see it. She is normally a very intelligent woman and so in sync with Harry that she should understand his dislike for some of the changes. She has seen Harry progress over the two months and should not be setting the children to following Harry around, she needs to trust him and let him develop a feel for all the changes. I guess I'm a firm believer to let them do for themselves otherwise they will become dependant on you rather than take care of themselves. Still, all in all another excellent chapter.

Author's Response: Ginny is still in what my friend and advisor calls "emergency mode"; she still thinks she needs to do for and protect Harry and her family from everything, so she's running round exhausting herself, trying to be in three places at once. This doesn't give her much time to step back and just observe, which she really needs to do in order to be able to slow down and appreciate that her family is still whole and that her husband is slowly regaining most of his former independence. You are right about Ginny needing to trust Harry and her children to know what is right for them. Keep reading... you'll see more of this subject in subsequent chapters. Until next Thursday, then...

I don't know if I feel worse for Harry or for Ginny. Obviously there is still no education for the families or Ginny would understand she needs to let Harry do stuff for himself. I think Ginny is also suffering, she's had to suddenly change her role in the past several months, it is hard to change back. They can't actually change back, they need to work together to forge a new way of living together.

Congrats on the Silver Trinkets, you deserve the award this is a very engrossing story :)

Author's Response: You've found the exact problem Harry and Ginny are going through and have summed it up quite nicely. I won't go as far as saying that Ginny has refused to take advantage of the support system offered by Muggle agencies, but she's definitely followed Wizarding tradition and not voluntarily taken part in the family education available to her and her children. It's going to take someone or something else to make her realize what she's doing to Harry and her children, plus some time, too. Thank you for reviewing and for the support of my story in the Silver Trinkets. I'm still smiling from ear to ear every time I think about it.

Very good chapter. I can understand why Harry was so upset with Ginny. That would annoy the heck out of me.

Author's Response: Thanks for understanding and siding with Harry. Ginny has a few things she needs to step back and accept, but it's going to take some time to realize that her husband isn't going to need her as much as she thinks he does because of what he's learning at The Groves. The next few chapters will delve further into this subject. Until next Thursday...
