One of those that I just couldn't put down (finished in one late night). To me, the great romances in our segment of the fandom are AU where Harry and Ginny don't know each other until much later, but that's just me. Taking off my H/G hat for a minute, sometimes it just seemed too easy for them. Did you ever think about at least one decent fight, considering how strong-willed they both are? Maybe something having to do with going public with the relationship. Relationships are hard, as we two married men know. Other than that, definitely one of the quintessential post-Hogwarts fics.

Author's Response: Ah, I agreed. I'm a big fan of the 'Harry and Ginny never met at Hogwarts' type of story. You just get so much more freedom in writing if they are kept apart until later life. This way, we don't get Ginny in her early fan girl phase, and we're not subjected to Cho Chang, either. That's got to be a good thing!

What a wonderful, refreshing story.

Aurors, Quidditch and the Daily Prophet are (next to Malfoy), the things I like the least in the Harry Potter universe. However, you've done a wonderful job of serving these three things in a way that I've been enjoying to read it. The authentic descriptions of the London pubs and their menus were the icing on the top.

After I already read a couple of your other stories, it was interesting to read a story you wrote in a time before the term body count was introduced in fanfiction, lol.

Thank you!

Author's Response: I'm always a bit dismissive of this story, simply as it was my first ever published one and I keep thinking now that I would have changed so much. I'm always surprised that when I go back and look at it, it's actually a lot better than I remember. As for the London pubs - there's nothing like writing from experience, eh?

Wonderful story. Thank you so much for writing this

Author's Response: I don't think it was too bad for a first attempt. Mind you, you haven't seen the rubbish that I never published!

Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed it so much. There was a sequel... hint, hint.

I really enjoyed that, thanks!

Author's Response: Ooo, I haven't had a review on this old chestnut for months. Thanks for keeping the memory alive!

This is a very good story

I read your story " Harry Potter and the Nameless Man " sometime back, I figure since I like that story so much. I would also like this story

Author's Response: I do still have a soft spot for this story, although some of the writing does now make me cringe a bit. Still, everyone has to start somewhere, right?

That was fun, and how nice to read a story with authentic British humour, social situations and, of course, food and drink.

Author's Response: Well, I am authentically British!

Reviewer: Jeograph Signed Date: 2013.04.24 - 10:30AM Title: Chapter 13 – The End of the List

I do realize I have been reading your stories out of order. Actually the reading marks a bit of a break from the writing, much to the possible chagrin of my own readers. But I have found I am enjoying your decidedly AU approach. Somehow I cannot conceive, or at least have never considered, reaching that far back and changing so many things.
I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed this little tale, and thank you for sharing it. The list was a very nice vehicle for building the story around.
Personally I noticed lots of little things that felt like minor wording errors, but the longer I read the more I think that they were more likely the difference between British and American word flow. But, as I have not noticed the same in "Butterfly Effect" I am wondering about it. It is certainly nothing that put me off the story obviously.
One of the things that I found most pleasing about the story was the use of actual places, a considerable advantage you have over an American author like myself. I so wish I could use actual setting in my own story, but alas, I do not possess the knowledge. It is one of the greater regrets of my life, that even though I was blessed to spend a year in Scandinavia (Denmark specifically) and traveled much of continental Europe, I never made it to the U.K. Perhaps one day.
While I enjoyed many specific scenes throughout the story, and each is deserving of mention, I will just say that all in all it was well worth my time and most enjoyable, and again Thank you!

Oh... about hot dogs! While I admit to never being in England, I can tell you that each occasion I had to sample what was loosely termed an "American hot dog" throughout every country I visited, I never had one that met the standard. I will tell you that we have both delightful and abysmal hot dogs in the U.S. those that we know as children are tasteless bland concoctions that require all the condiments one can find to make them remotely acceptable. (The only acceptable way to eat them is grilled on an open flame so the char gives them some flavor.) This seems to be the rest of the world's perception of what constitutes an "American Hot Dog." However there are many varieties and most adults develop a more discerning pallet, preferring the better spiced versions of the lowly sausage. Many condiments are acceptable but perhaps the best version is the "Chicago Dog" and if you are ever blessed to visit the windy city I encourage you the explore its culinary diversity, especially its variety of "common folks" foods raised to uncommon heights.
While there is nothing in inherently wrong with a little sauerkraut on a hotdog it is more commonly reserved for the much spicier Bratwurst, and in my opinion it belongs there, as it is overpowering to a normal hotdog. But some would argue that it is necessary to overpower a bland dog. My current favorite version is the Southern Slaw-Dog, which involves a perfectly steamed dog covered in a generous helping of Cole-slaw.
Sorry for the rant, but your comments begged the input. There is a world of culinary wonders out here, both lavish and as mundane as the lowly hot dog. I wish I could take you to a really good hot dog joint and introduce you to is real possibilities, and enjoy a beer and a conversation. If what you described in the story is the English standard, I think you would appreciate it! Then, perhaps you could introduce me to some world class fish and chips?

Thanks again... off to read the sequel. Well, soon anyway.

Author's Response: I’m glad you enjoyed it. You’re quite right that ‘The List’ is full of errors and in places the writing is definitely not all it could be. This story represents my first attempt at any form of creative writing since I left school in 1983 – that’s a long time ago! When I started the story, I discovered that I was attempting to write exactly like I do at work. In other words, just like a bank letter! Mrs Brennus read my first draft, shook her head and told me to try again. What you have just read is my second attempt (with a few rescued parts which on reflection I wish I’d redone). Working in a strict business environment for so long meant I had to virtually learn how to write again from scratch – I’m not kidding. I have a lot of affection for ‘The List’ even if I sometimes wish I could go back and re-write half of it. One thing I have learnt is that if you want to start a healthy debate among SIYE readers just start mentioning food! The howls of protest I’ve received over my description of a bog-standard British hot dog amused me no end. I do realise now that a hot dog is a sacred item to many Americans, but with the things that get served up this side of the pond you’ll be lucky if the dog is actually contains any meat. As my mum (rest her soul) lived in American for quite a while, I have been introduced to a large number of American style dishes and I am a convert. I’m the only person I know who has cravings for meatloaf, but sadly mum took her recipe to the grave with her. Sigh. I’ve also watched enough episodes of ‘Man vs. Food’ to seriously consider emigrating. The only trouble is I doubt I’d find a decent pint of cider anywhere in the USA. It you do ever manage to get to our soggy little island, I wouldn’t bother with the fish & chips. To be quite honest, if we Brits have a national dish it’s probably curry. Yep, there’s nothing quite so British as a nice Indian.

i am from NZ as of last few years but originally from Europe::) Name is italian, it supposetly means " water lover"

Author's Response: That’s really pretty, actually. I guess if I had an Italian name it would have to mean ‘beer lover’. I doubt it would sound as good!

Great story! Thanks for writing it. A very cute, fluffy piece that has tons of personality. I love your iteration of Ginny. Your Ginny might actually be my favorite from all the many authors I've read.

I can't wait to read your other stories. Your story was well-polished and enjoyable the entire way through.

Normally I try to leave longer reviews, but I can't think of anything even slightly critical. Sorry!

Author's Response: I completely agree that a lot of people write Ginny all wrong, especially in stories posted on different sites to this one. I think it’s a combination of Ginny’s behaviour in the early books where she is still suffering from her debilitating crush on Harry, and Bonnie Wright’s performance in the films. As sexy as I think Bonnie is, she was just all wrong in her interpretation of Ginny. Come to think of it, very few of the actors in the films were anything like their book characters, Evanna Lynch’s Luna being the only real exception. Once Ginny’s true personality comes out in the later books she’s shown to be a strong-willed, fun-loving, intelligent young woman. I’m always surprised at the number of ‘Ginny-haters’ you see on other sites and their arguments against her seldom reflect her as she is from ‘HP&OotP’ onwards. Anyway, really glad you enjoyed the story and hope you feel the same about my later stories. Tread carefully with ‘Butterfly Effect’ though. It’s very different from this story.

A highly entertaining story....i am glad I read it in one sitting though regrettably long after its completion. The only trouble I had while I read this was the efforts I put in to preventing the occasional rushing of blood towards the southern. While Harry and Ginny were going at it like bunnies. I may be seen as a perv. But truth is you have an amazing writing style. The small dig at the highly spicy Indian was a bit of news. Since most of the dishes you mentioned are regulars in my place and I never found them as spicy as you mention. There are certain other 'chutney' you may want to try ( Basically a different variety of sauce if you may call it so). May be its just the varied food habits that makes you guys feel so. Do try the dish I mentioned of available.....Do continue to write...i have read the sequel to this as well. and found it equally refreshingly good.

Author's Response: Sorry to hear about your blood flow issues (no, really I am. TMI!TMI!). I’m sorry if you think I was having a dig at Indian food, believe me, that was the furthest thing from my mind. Most Brits love curry and it is a well-established rite of passage for young British males to try and outdo each other eating the hottest thing on the menu. This normally occurs right after that other well-established rite of passage for young British males – seeing who can drink the most beer. Ah, it puts the great in Great Britain!

I enjoyed this story. It brought a smile to my face several times. Really loved Georgina!

Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed it. I was never really sure about the chapter with Georgina in it. It was written quite a bit earlier than the bulk of the story and I often felt I could have written it better with a bit more experience. The story continues in my follow-up ‘The Oath’ which currently had nine of its thirteen chapters posted (plug!).

Absolutely fantastic story. Its kept me enthralled for hours while I had a new boiler and radiators fitted!

Def looking forward to reading anything else you post.

Author's Response: Oh, don’t start me on boilers! I’ve had more trouble with boilers for one reason or another. It’s always the same; I move into a new home – the boiler blows up. Agghhh!! Anyway, glad you liked the story. There is a sequel which I’m not sure if I mentioned…

While I never would want Harry to end up with her, I do feel sorry for Suzie.

Author's Response: Rest assured, Harry would never think of Suzie in that way. Strangely, when writing this story I never planned to have Suzie act like that. In fact, Suzie wasn’t really mentioned in the story much at all and Robbie was featured a lot more. The more I wrote, however, the more I realised Suzie was a much more interesting character. Funny how these things turn out.

I have to say this was a fun story. And one in which I tried a while back and just could not get my head around it, but now it works and fun to read over the last few days....kutgw in all u do, just so u know I did not review every chapter and I am sorry for that but when one is complete I just go for the end...

Author's Response: I’ve always said I’ve got a strange sense of humour so I don’t blame anyone for not getting their head around my story! Glad you enjoyed it in the end, though.
