The Valentine's scene was gorgeous. It made my day.
When I just thought, that the bracelets are an original, useful idea, they immediately became handy at the end of the chapter. I like the idea that the both of them are able to locate each other, especially in their circumstances.
Oh, evil Malfoy, he spoils the fun the two of them have together. Couldn't he wait another hour before he interfered? How did he even find them?
I hope that Ginny stays calm and is able to retaliate.
I'll see and read...
Lucky me, I do not have to wait for an update ;-)

Author's Response: Thank you! I wanted to have something unique and fun for them to locate each other. Malfoy, I enjoy him as a villain. He's cocky, sure of himself, and oh so sophisticated - he isn't repulsed by the hatred in his heart, he revels in it. To me that makes him interesting as a villain - he wasn't pushed into it, he is a true believer and will follow Voldemort anywhere. Ginny...well let's just say, she is amazing :)

That is not how I was expecting this chapter to end! Great job. Now I'm on pins and needles. I hope Ginny was able to Apparate away and can rescue Harry.

Author's Response: Thanks! I always like being able to surprise the readers :)

First, some old business as I still disagree on Snape. I won't argue Snape's exact feelings toward Lily as it's your story, not mine. However, his overall goal is supposed to be the defeat of Voldemort. The moment he decided not to privately mention Voldemort's ability to enter Hogwarts at will, he betrayed Dumbledore and any pretense of him opposing Voldemort. Regardless of his feelings for Harry or his perception of how Dumbledore wanted Harry to seem to others, he kept silent on a critical point for the side he is supposed to be on. Based on Dumbledore's views on 'the greater good', he should be considering doing something substantial to reduce the risk to the Order from the questionable allegiance of one of its members.

Regarding using Quidditch matches to disguise searches for Harry, that is an odd plan. It would only work if there were only very lax following of order members that would quit as soon as they did something that would explain their trip. It isn't giving much credit to their opponents and that is a bad idea if you care about winning.

This is only partly old business (Scrimgeour/Bones). I did like your explanation of the Minister's actions and they were more favorable to Scrimgeour than what I'd been thinking. The conversation between them was also a good picture of how bad things are getting at the Ministry. He's being followed by a marked Death Eater and they're letting him get away with it. My main issue was Why Scrimgeour got the post over Bones but he was more political and wanted it more so that's explanation enough.

I like the glimpses of Hogwarts and although I have mixed feelings on the Ron/Hermione pairing, you are putting a new spin on how that develops. I liked how Hermione finally reassessed her opinion of Sirius but I'm becoming more and more disappointed with Molly. Hermione needs more practice though as she didn't do well with the discussion of Malfoy and Snape. As for what Malfoy is up to, he may be trying to get Ron to reveal something due to his 'talk first, think later' approach to life.

When I read about Harry buying something locally via his Gringotts' account I thought for sure Sirius was on the verge of catching up to them. Finding him via the owl orders would be more problematic but this would give him a definite location. I was wondering how the Death Eaters got there first but the memory charms on people at their previous location are probably a hint as I don't see Harry, Ginny or their caretaker as likely to do that. DE attention would be brought to a location where their raid failed and there were few magical people to check there. They wouldn't be put off by someone reluctant to answer like Tonks was.

The DEs were stupid though, making Harry scream before checking for Ginny. She'll be under an invisbility cloak and ready for them. Since the charms on the bracelets are no longer known, they may be able to work through wards or masking spells. She likely can't stop them from taking Harry but she will be able to find out where they take him.

I liked the promise ring scene but the dinner conversation between Sirius/Remus/Tonks/Bill and their search of the Potter house were also excellent.

Author's Response: Thanks so much for the review. I agree with you about Snape, but I don't know that Dumbledore would make any radical changes. He would probably trust him less, but I can't see him firing Snape (although he should) because his life would be at risk - the same reason as he kept Tralawny. I think I didn't explain the Quidditch matches well enough. They didn't actually go to all of the Quidditch matches, it was more if someone asked why they were in Appleby or Wigton they would say oh we were at the Quidditch match. In my view there are probably magical communities around there and that's why they were there to talk to the locals and see if anyone had seen Harry or Ginny. I'm glad the Scrimgeour scene worked - I really wanted to show what was happening at the Ministry. I also have mixed feelings about Ron/Hermione and I don't really plan to focus on them as a couple. I think Hermione still has some growing up to do and she needs to be a bit more aware of her own weaknesses. Malfoy doesn't have quite the same issues that Malfoy did in HBP - his father didn't fail at the Ministry and subsequently hadn't fallen out of favor with Voldemort. I'm glad you liked Valentine's Day and the search of the Potter house.

I thought paying with his Gringotts key was a bad idea. Surely they could be tracked down by that. Was that what happened?

Nice to see that old Rufus had a valid, and not nefarious, reason for upholding the expulsion.

And Dumbledore is still not taking Draco serioiusly? Your Dumbledore is still demonstrating an almost pathological need to give people another chance. Something I have never understood. If he knows that Draco has been ordered to kill him (I'm assuming that is the case here, as in canon) then he is a fool for not taking action to remove an obviously dangerous individual from the school. Of course he has given Snape more chances than anyone. No matter where his loyalty lies, he should have been removed from his teaching position long ago.

Well, this was an expected occurrence. They couldn't evade detection forever. And it was inevitable from a storytelling perspective for them to be separated soon after gaining a way to find each other. That is assuming Ginny remains undetected. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Author's Response: Thanks! I think Rufus is not a bad person, just not a particularly good one. I've never really understood Dumbledore's need to give second chances, I mean honestly Draco should have been charged with attempted murder for his poisoning of Ron and Katie's attack. I agree Snape should not be allowed near children - I wouldn't send my children to Hogwarts. Hope you continue to enjoy.

I seem to be one that wasn't surprised. Does Malfoy have a source at Gringotts or was it the jeweler? My money is on the jeweler. You didn't have Malfoy take Harry so my other question is, do they get away? Oh, I hope so I like the idea of Malfoy being tortured for his failure.

Author's Response: Thanks! Most of your questions will be answered in the next chapter - hope you like it.

OH NO!! I was so not expecting this to happen. How in the world did Malfoy find them? Do the DE's know about the friends of lilly? I hope they don't find Ginny. Please let Harry make it out OK! At least now we know that the minister is not in it for himself. The wizengamot is for all intents and purposes, a false government with a few trustworthy people and the rest are in Voldemort's pocket,. Wonder how long it will take to figure out Yaxely is a DE. Hermoine has not changed a bit. Still in love with her authority figures and following Dumbledore like a lamb and Molly is no better. Glad that Bill, Remus and Sirius are making progress with the Horcurxes. I am glad that Harry and Ginny are getting closer. Pleaes keep up the good work as well as teh updates. I really hope to read more soon!

Author's Response: Thanks! Most of your questions will be answered in the next chapter. Hermione is a work in progress, Neville is slowly helping to change her perceptions.

Here I was thinking Harry and Ginny were having a good time and then it all went pear shaped at the end. I await the next chapter.

Author's Response: I know - it kind of snuck up on them :)

Oh no! Nonononononono! Oh please no! Almost at the end before Lucius came I was thinking about writing how cute this chapter was in the review, but then Oh my god!! Is it me or this chapter took longer time in updating? Whatever!! I love this story, please please please don't take so much time until the next chapter I might get a heart attack because of those cliffhangers!! xxxGPH

Author's Response: Thanks! I know that was rather evil of me. This update did take a bit longer - I was on vacation - but the next chapter is already with my beta :)

Wow! This is some chapter, and what a cliffhanger to leave it on!
It wasn't just Harry who'd been lulled into a false sense of security, I never imagined that happening either
Keep up the great work :)

Author's Response: Thanks! I think a lot of people were surprised by the ending :)
