That was a rather scary scenario. But why does Voldemort Harry leave back and alive? Not that I'm complaining about it. I'm just a bit confused. I saw Harry already in a several week-long hostage.
Wow, that special Imperius charm on Tonks was a great idea. I suppose it took some of your time to study a couple of Ancient Runes texts to find that charm. ;-)
Tonks situation is not easy but it is written very believable for all involved characters.
As much as I like that idea that Harry calls Sirius dad; every time when I read calling him dad I'm a bit confused. I'm really OK with Sirius in the father role, but when reading it, it sometimes is a bit ... I dunno ... extraordinary?
The safari birthday gift I liked very much, especially because it facilitates the very touching promising scene.
Great chapter, as always! Thank You!

Author's Response: Thanks! I imagined that Voldemort would want to take sometime to think over the prophecy before acting - after all the last time he acted impulsively about this prophecy, he lost his body. It might have made more sense for Voldemort to take Harry with him, but I chose for him to be more cautious for once. I'm glad you liked the charm on Tonks and the reactions to it. I've had a lot of feedback on Harry calling Sirius 'Dad'. My take on it, is Sirius is acting like a father so why can't he be called one? In many stories is his encouraged to call Mr and Mrs Weasley 'Mum and Dad' and no one sees this as out of the ordinary, so why is him calling Sirius 'Dad, unusual? Harry's own father has been dead for many, many years and in most instances, he would have been adopted by a new family with parents. It just seemed like an obvious choice to me. Glad you enjoyed the safari - I'm send Harry to all sorts of places I've never been before. I'm traveling vicariously through him :)

Wow, a lot happened in this chapter! I have read some of the other reviews and even before so, I was thinking the same thing as some of your other reviewers, why Voldemort left Harry behind? I read your reasoning, and as an author it is completely up to you as to how you would want the story to progress, but it seems to me that Voldemort was supremely stupid. He had the perfect opportunity to kill Harry right then and there and I can't imagine that he wouldn't have taken advantage of that situation. Not to mention that it would be the perfect time to 'kill' Harry, leave him to the grieving friends behind the ward, and then be extremely surprised when Harry turns up very much alive several months later to kill Voldemort off in turn. However, as I said, you are the author, and I am the reader and those are merely my wishes. I am sure you have something much better in store so I will continue to read in anticipation.

Author's Response: Thanks! Sorry I disappointed people and your suggestion is actually very good, but I guess because I have a different idea it didn't occur to me.

This story continues to entertain, providing good character development, vivid descriptions ... I am loving their visit to Africa ... exciting, danger-filled confrontations, and your Ginevra Molly Weasley is completely impossible not to love! I am looking forward to your next chapter -- and hoping it will be published soon! Thank you for sharing your talent with us!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I'm really having fun exploring Africa through Harry and Ginny. I'm glad you like my take on Ginny - she is a great character :)

The spell on Tonks was a creative bit of writing. Everything made sense until Voldemort left without Harry. He may be a power-crazed lunatic who favors overly-elaborate plans but until now he didn't seem stupid. I suppose it is possible that he is so arrogant he thinks he can get to Harry again at some future time. However, he showed he was over any reluctance to come face to face with Harry again by going there and nobody could have stopped him from taking Harry with him. He had the prophecy, if he wanted to contemplate it for a while before taking action against Harry, that wouldn't prevent him from hosting him in a dungeon while he waited.

You have me a bit paranoid now, I was expecting Death Eaters during their tea break during the safari even though them knowing about Africa was very unlikely. However, it wasn't a big stretch for them to pay some attention to Egypt. They would (or should) know of Bill's involvement with Harry and Sirius so Bill taking them to Egypt isn't a wild guess. Disguises for Ginny and Harry wouldn't do much good if they were watching Bill, they were right there with him.

The hard words between Remus and Sirius made me uneasy but I decided that neither was OOC and in the long run their argument was a necessary development.

This confused me a bit:
Sirius shrugged. “A little, but he’s seventeen. James was seventeen when he proposed to Lily. They are truly meant for each other.”

Remus wasn’t entirely sure that was true, but he didn’t want another fight with Sirius. It always made him feel sick to his stomach to argue with one of the other Marauders.

The way it was written, I assumed the 'they' Sirius said at the end referred to was James and Lily so I was surprised that Remus wouldn't be sure it was true. Then I thought the 'they' must be Harry and Ginny but I wasn't sure what Remus would base that opinion on for them either. Their relationship might be new to him but why would he doubt it? If it is just their ages, then we're right back to James/Lily.

I really liked the scene where Sirius broke the spell on Tonks. It had a great mixture of ceremony, relationships and suspense. The poisoned necklace was a good touch although why it wasn't detected earlier is a good question.

Author's Response: Thanks! I had another reviewer point out that Voldemort wouldn't leave him, but to me it made sense that he would be a bit more cautious after the previous run ins with Harry and simply leave him to plan out his next move. Sorry if that didn't seem realistic. I think Sirius would be a bit upset with Remus for not doing more for Harry esp after he discovers Harry was abused. So that is the reason for the tension. I meant Harry and Ginny, sorry I get a little lost at times and assume that you all can read my mind - it always surprises me when you don't . Thanks for the review :)

One of the things that I enjoy about this story is that you keep the focus on H&G. Too many stories end up detailing the lives of the secondary characters and I'm grateful that you have not done that in this story.

I look forward to reading more.

Author's Response: Thanks! That is rather also a pet peeve of mine so I'm glad you are enjoying it.

To misquote Hermione in the PoA movie, "You foul, loathsome, evil, little [writer]!" How could you? Harry doesn't need any more pain, suffering, or torture curses from anyone than he needs a hole in the head! Why couldn't you have let him had good memories from his time at the beach? Because of what Bellatrix did to him and what she made Tonks do, and then the added violence from Voldemort, this chapter was extremely hard to read. I'm very glad Harry recovered because as I was reading, I was worried he'd be incapacitated indefinitely.

I am thrilled that Harry proposed to Ginny. His speech was quite touching and hopefully, the memory of it will be something she cherishes for the rest of her life. It was also nice to get to see them relaxing on their trip; nice touch with the Parseltongue conversation with the boomslang and Sirius accepting Harry speaking the language as something "normal."

The ending to this chapter was quite momentous. The ceremony was well done and very easy to picture. "Bless" Bellatrix for adding a second layer of Dark magic to her original curse... not! And yes, it's a thing she'd probably do and get away with with some other victim... good thing Professor Flitwick knows his detection spells.

All in all, well done. It's been a long time since a chapter has elicited this sort of reaction for me. I'm looking forward to your next installment.

Author's Response: Sorry, that was not nice of me, but Harry is recovered now. I'm glad you liked the proposal, I had fun with it. Everyone always had him present a box, but my husband pulled just the ring out of his pocket so I had Harry do the same. And they had a lovely trip without any mishaps or injuries :) After reading about different Magical African animals, I thought it would be a good time to have Harry use his Parselmouth abilities in front of Sirius. I'm glad you liked the ceremony - after I reread it several times I was wondering if I'd seen too many 'Charmed' episodes. Glad you enjoyed the chapter and thanks for the wonderful review :)

Another great chapter. I thought the Imperius-like spell was brilliant. If the spell could be used on family, then could Bellatrix have used it on Harry? That is assuming the Charlus Potter and Dorea Black on the Black family tree are Harry's great grandparents. I know JKR said that James Potter's parents had him late in life, but one could interpret that in relative terms, and assume she meant late in life compared to when most wizard families have children. Of course, Harry can resist the Imperius Curse from Voldemort himself, so it likely wouldn't work, but I wouldn't put it past Bella to try it anyway.

Everybody's reactions to what Tonks did were just about perfect. Utterly believable.

I have to wonder if nytroglycerin was invented from studying erumpent fluid. It's an idea. I may have to use that.

At least this chapter didn't end on a cliffhanger. Now I won't be so antsy waiting for the next one.

Author's Response: Thanks! I don't think Bella could have used it on Harry - the connection, whatever it is is too distant. Glad you liked the reactions to Tonks. I like the nytroglycerin idea :)

Didn't Harry & Ginny leave Hogwarts in their fifth year after Dumbledore left? So when did Harry heard the prophecy? Harry is a whimp in this story, he can't seem to beat any death eater or an imperious person. Anyway I still love your story it is very well written.

Author's Response: Harry and Ginny did leave in their fifth year, but he heard the prophecy in Chapter 10. James had left a copy of it with his important papers for Sirius. Harry might seem to be a bit of a whimp, but he's actually done a lot more fighting then he did in Canon. He's been caught unawares twice now so that has contributed to his poor track record. Glad you are still enjoying the story.

As much as I love your stories, they all tend to be the same in many ways such as the early engagement/marriage of Harry and Ginny. It can get predictable and I just hope to be surprised by a step in their relatonship is all. y

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. That is a very good point, I do tend to marry them off at a young age. I will certainly keep that in mind. I hope it doesn't turn you off from the story :)

This is a really great story! I always love how you write Harry & Ginny. And I really like how supportiver Bill & Fleur always are in your stories. This was a very exciting chapter, can't wait for the next. I really like Sirius taking on the role of Dad to Harry - I think that is very important to Harry. Interesting take on Remus - most people never show him in any thing but a very sympathetic light.

Author's Response: Thanks so much! I just really like Bill and Fleur so I'm glad you are enjoying them. I think if Sirius had the time he would have done more for Harry, so I wanted to explore that in this story. I like Remus, but honestly he's never really done a whole lot for Harry. I don't know if its his reluctance to get close to people or what.
