Christmas at the Burrow. Great chapter. I am glad that Percy and Audrey are reconnecting with the family, and now that Hermione is more in the know, hopefully they can make progress with the Horcrux hunt. Poor Hagrid unwittingly causing distress, and now what is Albus up to.

Author's Response: Dumbledore was the hardest character to write in this story, as I didn't want him to be rotten to the core such as I had him in 'Butterfly Effect'. He really does believe he's doing what's right, even if his judgement is a bit off.

Great twist! You've created a situation that could easily have transpired in canon by marrying Malfoy's devious nature and Ron's near-fatal character flaw ... his crippling insecurities. Before anyone screams that Ron could never do something like this, I give you his venomous rage subsequent to Harry's selection as a Tri-wizard champion, his rage aimed at Hermione when he saw her with Viktor Krum at the Yule Ball, and his ultimate betrayal -- abandoning Harry and Hermione in Deathly Hallows! Excellent job, and thank you for sharing this fascinating fic!

Author's Response: Ron definitely has anger-management issues. Hopefully his voyage of self-discovery will do him good. Perhaps he'll shave his head and start referring to everyone as 'grasshopper'. God, I'm showing my age there!

Nice to see that the regional niceties are finally being observed :)

Author's Response: Took me a while but I got there eventually.

I believe someone has attempted to point this out in a previous review but lots of people in the Black Country will be in uproar that you claim Slade are Brummie. They're Wolverhampton/Walsall based, therefore Black Country folk. I know my boss would personally be out for blood for this error.
On to the real review, and another few great chapters. I love the effect Eva has on Sirius. Also, I don't know if Rankin is Audrey's surname in canon, but if it's not, then its a huge coincidence, as I met a Rankin today, he played keyboard on my bands EP which I just got home from recording
I'm looking forward to Hermione's love life improving. Is she going to pull an Ellen Page on us and come out to the surprise of all who know her. I hope so.
~Tim

Author's Response: You have to give me a bit of leeway, here. The vast majority of people who read this site aren't British and are probably very unlikely to know what a Brummie accent sounds like, but they definitely wouldn't know anything about Wolverhampton! Still, my apologies to Noddy and the boys. The surname Rankin is completely made up as I'm pretty sure Audrey's maiden name is never mentioned anywhere. Your band doesn't need a guitarist, does it? I play a mean version of 'paranoid'!

I think it's rather adorable that Harry gave Ginny an art set and her gift to him was artwork; the two are really in sync. I'm glad Percy is trying to work things over with the family; even if they still disagree, the intentions of both sides are good so there's no need for him to exiled from the family. The one thing that Harry's group is still missing is a spy among the Death Eaters; Dumbledore's source was most likely Snape and he seems unlikely to start sharing information with Harry again unless he regains some control over him. Anyway, keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to the Hermione romance reveal, although the only thing we got this chapter was about a potential crush on Percy, but I wouldn't want to lose Audrey from the story so Hermione will have to find another.

Author's Response: You've actually hit on something I agonised about for ages: a Death Eater spy. I considered 'turning' Snape so he joined the group, but in the end I just couldn't do it. He might be brave, but he's still a mean-spirited, petty git who is living in the past. It's an issue I will play with in TR3, actually, but I suspect it will remain a serious gap in the groups intelligence gathering apparatus, and that could be a big problem.

Was it just me or did Hermione's love life get left out of this chapter? I didn't pick up on any clues either, but I can be a bit thick at times. :)

Author's Response: No, I'm saving that for the next chapter when all will be revealed. The question is: will I need to include a femme-slash warning or not?

Nice to see serious sell down with a nice woman, I'll so nice to see Hermione and luna are still in the group. Harry and Ginny visiting Hagrid was a nice touch. Hope voldy shorts is not coming back soon...kutgw

Author's Response: Yes, Hagrid has put in his obligatory single appearance in one of my stories. I refuse to write more speech in a West Country accent as it just feels like taking the piss out of myself.

what an interesting chapter this is...
I liked Percy's return and the shock that Ginny hadn't told her family that she was in contact with him
Ron manged not to be a git and make a polite reply to Harry, what a surprise that was :)

Author's Response: Oh, Ron will put in a further appearance next chapter, when his cunning plan will be revealed.

“I hereby call to order this meeting of the formally titled New Marauders, formally the Fudge Shafting Society, and now known as the Potter for Minister Action Group." Please acquire yourself a dictionary, and look up the word 'formally.' Once you have done that, please compare/contrast that with the definition for the word 'formerly.' You are not the only author to make that little mistake. I see it all the time.

This was a great chapter. I especially liked the Weasley Christmas dinner. Percy's explanation about Arthur not even listening to anything he said being partly to blame for his estrangement was a believable touch.

I find it quite ironic that Harry says Trelawney couldn't have made the prophecy. But not because she actually did, though that is ironic. No, I find it ironic because Harry knwosTrelawney has made two correct predictions. After Harry tells Dumbledore of her prophecy after the Divination end of year exam, Dumbledore says that it brings her total number of true predictions to two. Even forgetting the obvious bit about this meaning there was another prophecy from her that Harry doesn't know about, it still seems odd that he would forget Dumbledore's comment about that. Maybe he will remember this at some point and concede the point that maybe it was her?

That was an interesting approach with Luna and Occlumency. Most authors that address it have Luna's mind so twisted and chaotic that she is nearly impervious to Legilimency, because it causes pain to the one trying to enter her mind. Something about her unique perspective on everything.

Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see the rest of the story.

Author's Response: I think you have to assume that Harry never heard Trelawney's prediction (this is AU, after all, and I never mentioned it previously). Even if he did, it would be unlikely he would tell Dumbledore about it, so he never heard the comment about the number of correct predictions. The Luna/Occlumency thing was a deliberate change to most fan fiction. In this story, Luna is relatively normal even if she comes at things in a unusual way. Occlumency would require, I suspect, a disciplined mind and intense concentration, not things I associate with Luna, bless her.

"For all non-Brits, please note that the title of this chapter should be bellowed at the top of your voice in a Brummie accent while wearing a top hat covered in mirrors."

All residents of the Black Country roll their eyes...

Regional differences apart, this isn't heading where I thought it would so I guess I'll have to keep reading to find out ;)

Author's Response: What, not a Slade fan, then? Surely its obligatory to have them playing in the background during Yuletide? ;-)

Author's Response: Ah, the true meaning of your review has just been pointed out to me. Apologises to all residents of the Black Country for lumping them in with the Brummies. Hey, I'm from Wiltshire, what do I know?

Ring the bells and don the mirrored hats! The Wizard of words has returned with yet another brilliant MASTERpiece! (Or in Brummie: Ren the bells an' don the mirrored hats! the wizard of words 'as returned with yet anover bostin' MASTERpiece!) I don't own a tophat covered with mirrors so I ductaped Mrs. Auror's compact mirror to a beanie and yelled the chapter title as requested, followed by a quick explanation to Mrs. A to prevent her from having me committed! This chapter was alot of fun! Sirius has to be the master of nice recoveries - sliding one by both Molly and Eva in one day without being hexed! Any idea if the Action Committe has released Potter for Minister t-shirts or at least coffee mugs for sale? Couldn't help but notice you didn't mention England vs. Ireland Rugby -- was it that bad?!

Author's Response: I think it's telling that you can write in Brummie on this site without a load of formatting errors appearing but you can't in Japanese. That's racism, that is! ;-) I should also have mentioned that you need to grow your sideburns out to ridiculous lengths, as well. That might be a problem for the female readers. I haven't mentioned England vs. Ireland because it hasn't happened yet - it's not until the 22nd. Hopefully I'll have Thorny Rose all posted before then, so if we do get stuffed I won't have to acknowledge it. Brian O'Driscoll = legend!

Okay let's review Arthur Weasley authored the Muggle Protection Act which seemingly passed and upset Lucius Malfoy enough that he targeted Ginny. Percy Weasley aided and abetted Death Eaters by being an unquestioning, stupid yes man in not realizing what was going on. He should have been fired after his first disastrous year at the Ministry, but he was kept on to either spy on his father or out of respect for his father. In his entire 1 1/2 at the Ministry Percy has ... gotten richer by taking bribes? been a self-righteous idiot? He needs a major attitude adjustment. For all that he and Audrey come off as all self-righteous were they going to do anything if not bribed by his little sister other than get rich that is. I think Ginny is becoming a bit to manipulative - Percy isn't sorry he was rude and horrible to his parents and Arthur has a right to be hurt - he shouldn't be forced to accept Percy and his incredibly rude fiancee in his house without an apology.

Okay, other than that, I loved the chapter :) I'm glad that Harry and Ginny didn't get mad at Hagrid, he didn't understand the implications of what he was telling them. He was in Azkaban during the end so he was hurt as well. I have a feeling that denying Voldemort was trying to come back might hurt them in the end.

Author's Response: Well, I'm chastised now. Does this mean more spankings? I do hope so. Seriously, I do see your point and to a fairly large extent agree. But there are always two sides to every story and I suspect Arthur is a man very sure of his principals and set in his ways; I could see him refusing to listen to Percy's point of view. I'm not saying Percy is in anyway right, but there has definitely been a bit of a father/son clash of heads. Percy is the only one who followed Arthur's career path and I can imagine them rubbing each other up the wrong way.

A nice Christmas chapter, but you've left us with quite a puzzle. How did the Death Eaters escape. Has Voldemort found some other way to return? Was someone else involved? What is Dumbledore hiding? What's going to happen next? Can't wait to find out.

Author's Response: Some good questions there, most of which I can't answer at the moment. As for what Dumbledore is hiding, I've long suspected he was wearing woman's underwear beneath those robes. He looks the type.

Oh the plot thickens. Dumbledore knows something that sounds big, death eaters on the lose, and lets not forget ron and draco seem to have something planned too. Hope harry and ginny don't get too overwhelmed.

Author's Response: Things all come to a head in the next chapter. Well, they have to, really: there's only two more left!

Great chapter. Most probably Dumbledore knows about the breakout. If it is not he who planned it. I'm looking forward for next chapter.

Author's Response: No, he didn't plan it, but you can assume he heard about it from Snape. I'm not making Dumbledore particularly evil in this one, just a bit short-sighted and prone to mistakes. Unless you're counting those hideous robes he wears: they are evil.
