Reviews For Friends and Foes

This is now my favorite fan fiction chapter of all time. I love everything that you have written, but this is the story I always wanted to read. A muggle character trying to make sense of the magical world. Awesome job!!!

Author's Response: Thanks, this isn't the first "confused Muggle" story I've written, but Dennis' proposal to Lesley (in "Dennis") was very different. -N-

So glad to see more progress on this work! As always, a tightly woven, well written chapter. I love your portrayal of Ginny as she fiercely protects her wizard! Kudos, also for Bobbie!

Author's Response: Thanks, The next (Ginny free, sorry) chapter is taking longer than I'd like, but I hope to update early next month. -N-

I must admit that you are one of my favorite authors. I enjoy your writing, and I especially enjoy that all of your stories are in the same timeline/universe. However, I do not like how infrequently you post new chapters. My poor heart can't take it. I look forward to the next installment.

Author's Response:
Thanks.
The slowness of my updates is frustrating for me, too. But I can’t work faster, sorry. These stories take up most of my free time.

Another brilliant chapter and one I've been eagerly waiting for. As always you leave us wanting more, such as how Bobbie ends up on the Auror Office staff as a trainee - though I assume this will be one of the "Harry recommends, Kingsley approves, Robards is stuck with it" situations that you've described so well before.

Also keen to see how Bobbie's talents and training will assist in finding the Slytherin (now) 5, some of whom are obviously hiding in the Muggle world by now (Newcastle?) or the Aurors would have already found them. They probably have no idea of the web of documentation they are already caught in.

Author's Response:
Thanks for the review.

You’ll find out the hows and whys of Bobbie’s acceptance in the next chapter. Perhaps I can surprise you.

As for the Slytherins, you’ll find out what Bobbie can do in the next chapter, too. There is paperwork (and lots of it) in the wizarding world, too.

Good chapter.
Harry is very trusting. I think he has made a good contact with Bobbie.
Looking forward to more.

Author's Response: Thanks.
Bobbie will be a recurring character through this story. Although she won’t appear in every chapter.

This is getting good! Wonder how Bobbie will handle the info Harry just gave her. I love how protective, Ginny is of Harry. Great story!

Author's Response: You’ll find out how Bobbie handle the information in the next chapter. -N-

Ah.. poor Bobbie :( they had more luck on talking to a eleven years old about magic than a full grown adult..

And Harry is going to hear an earful from Robards, but It cannot be helped they were too old fashioned on criminal catching.. because of their superiority complex, *sigh*

Its nice that you gave Bobbie a solid background about her joining the magical community. shows that she did not just join for the hell of it, which makes the character believable.

Author's Response:
Thanks.

Eleven year olds have fewer preconceived notions to knock down.

Harry is meeting the Minister first, so Robards may be faced wilt a fait accompli.

I’ve always known this origin, so this is simply one more long-awaited explanation.

This is to date one of the best chapters you have ever written. Many have tried, but you succeeded in writing a plausible muggle meets the wizarding world story. Always pleasure to read your work.

Author's Response: Thank you. Bobbies journey into Harry’s world will continue in the next chapter. -N-

Whoa! Another very intense chapter. I wish you could multiply yourself so that all your stories will be updated every day! LOL. Poor Bobbie. But, I hope that she at least will be a Muggle that the Miistry will exempt and that she will be an excellet contact and liaison between the Muggle police and the Auror Offcie. It really would be a great shame if she will be obliviated. I think that given her investigative talent and curious nature, she will make an excellent detective and will hold an office that will allow both the Metropoitan Police or even Scotland Yard to work together without breaking the International Secrecy Law.

Author's Response:
Thanks for the review.

As I said in a reply to another review, a Time Turner would be useful, then I could update more often.

(Spoiler Alert) Bobbie’s future career is documented in my MIT stories.

An interesting chapter. It was quiet clear from the last chapter that Harry is gonna include the muggle constable in the investigation and was just curious how is he gonna deal with the statue of sec. I know that hermoine would be reluctant at first and then follow harry's lead as she always did. A little bit late to tell you this and the fact that you don't follow Pottermore, but JKR had already write a brief article on Statue of Sec on pottermore, about its history and how it works.
About the chapter, its so good to see Harry's gradual increase in maturity and still holding his leadership qualities. the most interesting part was the Ron/Ginny banter. I liked when harry took Ron's side and told her that she is a bad loser (Ironically she ditched her first bf because according to her, he was a bad loser). Thanks by putting Cannons win for a change. I don't know if I ever read a fanfic in which they won, they always lose in every fanfic. The last part showing Ginny's protectiveness of Harry is also awesome.
Best of Luck.

Author's Response:
Thanks for the review.

I’m not a member of Pottermore, but I often check the Harry Potter Wiki, which often reports Pottermore “facts”. I haven’t read about the Statute of secrecy for some time, but I will.

I’ve always thought that Ron and Ginny were close, but that they disguise their affection for each other by sniping at each other. That is certainly a trait Ron has. He always tried to hide his affection for Hermione behind rudeness and jokes.

The Cannons can’t possibly lose every game (but they don’t win many).

I like that Harry decided to trust Bobbie. She seems like she'd make a good partner in the Muggle world. My only quibble is I think just a difference of opinion. I don't see Ginny as abrasive as you seem to and I don't think she would be such a b*tch all the time, but other than that I liked the story.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
Bobbie will be around for quite some time. I prefer to think of Ginny as “forthright”. Although she has been relentless with Ron, she has supported Harry.

I think the best part was how Ginny watched Harry’s back without making a song and dance about it. Intuition is a strong point for Harry and he is usually spot on with his intuitive moves, so it is interesting to see that Ginny recognises it and Hermione still need to question him.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
I’ve always seen Harry as being very intuitive. Hermione’s job is to remind him of the rules, and to talk common sense. Ron’s is to help Harry persuade Hermione to break the rules, and to provide off-the wall suggestions. Ginny (at least my Ginny) says exactly what she thinks.

I'm one of those naughty people that read and read and enjoy and never review. I love your universe and your writing. It's virtually the only fanfiction I read, here and on ff.net.

Loved the chapter. I thought Harry sounded a bit like a father telling off a daughter when he called on Ginny to apologise and called her a sore loser. Not sure what the point was, except of course to let us know what Ginny and Ron were arguing about in the last chapter (isn't that rude? I don't review and then I criticise? Well, question…) Also love how Harry just made this big decision to break the secrecy law on his own, without discussing with anyone else first. He really has become very confident in his work.

I don't know why but I always like stories that have "the reveal" to the muggles when everything starts to make sense to them!

Keep up the good work! I'll try and review more from now on...!

Author's Response:
Welcome.

There’s nothing naughty about it, if everyone reviewed, I’d never write anything except review responses. :-D

I thought that I’d simply written Harry defending his best friend, but I learned a long time ago that what I think I’ve written isn’t always the same thing as what my readers know they have read. :-D Harry has, I think, always made his own decisions. Often against the advice of both Ron and Hermione (his suspicions about Draco in HBP, for example).

I seem to write a lot of Muggle-centred stories. Partly because I like writing them, and partly because they are popular.

Ah Neil, always a pleasure. Especially liked Ginny's warning to Bobbie. I actually believe Harry is fine, he had to do something to get the woman out of their investigation. And of course he can add she was instrumental in his thought process for the MIT.
Can't wait for more.
Tricia

Author's Response: Tricia, you’re right, of course, Harry will be fine. Bobbie, however, is still in trouble. More soon, including an update to a story you’ve contributed to. -N-

Another brilliant chapter. I love how Ginny and Ron go on in their sibling banter in front of Bobbie, who must really feel like she is having a very surreal dream. Ginny's warn in the end is cute.

Now, a little doubt - why did Ginny write the address? She is there, she could just tell it. Dumbledore had to write it to Harry because he wouldn't be there when Harry arrived at Grimmauld Place.

Another doubt. Do you know how Silas could read and write a review when the chapter was not validated yet? I had been waiting for it's validation for more than16 hours, when I noticed the review, and I still had to wait for at least twelvw hours until I was able to read it.

Author's Response:
Thank you.

Sometimes Ron and Ginny simply can’t stop themselves. I also wanted to show how Ginny will back, and protect, Harry.

Why write it down? There is a reason, and I’m not sure why I didn’t reveal it. Some other time, perhaps.

As for Silas’ magical abilities, I have no idea. It isn’t the first time I’ve had someone review before validation, but even I can’t access my own “not validated” chapter (other than by editing it).

Just read this and the precious chapter. Interesting development with Constable Beadle. I have no doubt she will be very helpful on the case. My personal fav part of this chapter was the exchange between Ginny and Ron. It was nice to finally see the tables turned and Ron able to gloat a bit. Also, liked how Harry called her out on being a sore loser and allowing Ron his moment. I feel that was written for me since I was upset when she was so mean to Ron on his birthday ;) Looking forward to more!

Author's Response:
Thanks for the review.

Bobbie will begin to show her worth soon.

I’ve always seen Ginny as being a sore loser. Ron supports the worst team in the league, and he supports them through good and bad times (not that there have been any good times). I’m sure that Ginny thinks that she’s teasing him, but sometimes teasing strays into cruelty.

ps Bethina will be appearing soon.
