Thanks to our daughter, who visited the former Adam Smith College in Kirkcaldy in 2005, we visited Scotland a couple of times, among others Dufftown. Although I've often seen much higher mountains, the mountaintops of the Highlands are indeed impressive. I really hope that I'll get the chance to go back there again someday. Yes, there are definitely many things to commend the Highlands. The moody landscape stirs the soul; the harsh history disturbs us, but offers an astonishing contrast to the genuine folk up there now. And there is the 'water of life'. Ah, there was distinct sexual contact between H&G in Free Life, but they did not 'go all the way', per se. It was a choice that Matt made that I believe was a wise one, not because I'd be daft enough to suggest that two people who defy death so extensively can't handle something 'adult', but rather because it is leaves a drama yet to sated. While on the topic of relationships, Ron and Hermione are 'an item' through the latter half of TPC, and are technically committed to each other during the entirety of Trix, but Ron has only the slightest role in the drama and investigation throughout Trix, so that tends to hold them more at arms length than anything else. As you reread Trix, though, you will see that there is a plot thread involving Ron and his gradual maturity. He has a role to be played. Zabini, actually, is slowly growing too, though not really in the same ways as Ron. Ironically, though, Ron is gradually becoming less of a Slytherophobe at roughly the same rate that Zabini is becoming less of a Slytherin. Thank you, encore, for your thoughts! Probably just milking it, since almost nothing else seems to be out lately. Mein Deutsch ist nicht so toll, aber es ist besser als mein Italienisch. Yes, productivity seems to wane a little in July and August. Too much travel perhaps. But fast or slow, I hope you continue to enjoy the story! If the two of them are pushing each other so hard to grow and learn, poor Voldy just doesn't stand a chance! Reviewer: Gin110881 Signed Date: 2015.01.30 - 12:21PM Title: Questions, Questions? Somehow, I could not help feeling that you switch the good and the dark ones from canon, Draco and Mione, Gryffindor and Slytherin. OK, oK, Draco is still a bad one and Gryffindor is not dark. Maybe the feeling came up because more and more acting characters are Slytherin, well-behaving Slytherin. Ironic that you should pull Hermione and Draco out of the hat to exemplify altered characters -- these two are slated for some fireworks later on that prove instrumental in Hermione's character development and, indeed, for some pivotal plot points. As for the rest of the Slytherin mid- to major-characters, I like to think of them as being not evil, but largely neurotic. Blaise and Daphne have become highly irreverent rascals, and even Ryan is a bit of an odd duck (the uncouth term to use would be 'anally retentive'). Anyway, a key part of the victory plan is to win over the Slytherins to the light side; this proves to be a case of herding cats, but it makes for fun writing. Ah yes -- I am guilty of using the occasional polysyllabic monster. I'm sure that pretty few of them would mind if you skipped right past. Lots of intricate personality dynamics going on: the questions-questions brainstorming was very interesting, and I'm intrigued by how Molly and Hermione are working their way through their stages of angst. The most compelling material is in the Welcoming Feast. Clearly the winds of change are sweeping up! Reviewer: potterfan2008 Signed Date: 2014.04.02 - 05:49AM Title: Questions, Questions? I have to say I'm very undecided about this story. In some ways the past two chapters completely reversed everything that happened in 'Taking Control'. Harry went from being an independent operator to just another face in the crowd. I can see him wanting to repair his friendships, but I also think his so called friends need to make some movement, not just him. Harry is blathering on about Hermione when she tried to use and trick him. I would think he would be a bit more angry about that. Why is Harry playing matchmaker? Did he ever even find out why they broke up? Ron broke up with Hermione when she chose to betray Harry. Why would Ron want to get mixed up in that craziness now and why would Harry encourage it? The fifth table idea is interesting, but not very clear at the moment. I'm also curious about Fawkes and his connection to Ginny. I loved Molly thoughtfulness about Hermione. It is usualto see her mothering Harry, but Hermione not so much. Reviewer: ebdenis Signed Date: 2014.03.31 - 02:19PM Title: Questions, Questions? Nice sorting hat poem -- almost as goofy as JKR's examples ;) Reviewer: mdauben Signed Date: 2014.03.31 - 01:12PM Title: Questions, Questions? A very interesting chapter, with the directions that Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermione are all going, the various interelationships (well, except Harry and Ginny) seem in a true state of flux, open to many possible eventual outcomes. I'll definitly be looking forward to seeing how things progress. | |||||||
