You're raising some interesting aspects of the Horcrux-lore. I've always wondered what would happen to a disembodied Tom when all Horcruxes were destroyed.

Zabini is working hard to extend his list of demerits. Ambushing Ginny to kiss her are worth fifty more points from Zabini.

I'm glad that the two of them continue to help Remus during his transformation. However, I've always been wondering why in UK, in opposite to the other parts of the world, the full moon is never during the daytime. ;-)

I think Harry is overreacting about the locket Horcrux. The Horcrux has been hidden at the grim old place for many years now, one night more wouldn't have done any harm to the Horcrux, would it? He should learn to deal with such dangerous items when he's well rested. Obviously, Harry occasionally needs a good night’s sleep. Running through the mountains from 4-6 a.m. every night isn't healthy on the long run. His knees will not thank him. The way you wrote Harry's last class was brilliant, one could really feel how Harry's slowly falling asleep, lol.

Author's Response:

Ah, and do you recall how I dealt with disembodied-Tom in this one? Fully canon-compliant, but I'm not certain I've seen it used in any other fanfic.

Sorry for the self-congratulatory tone ;)

Yes, Zabini and Draco both demonstrate some of the problems with trying to bring Slytherins into the fold. Slytherins are 'people too', but some of them are not always the nicest people.

Well, to be honest, Scotland is one of the better places in the world to see daylight full moons, though that proposition is pretty sketchy by mid-September...

Could well be that Harry's urgency is an over-reaction. Perhaps he's a bit muddled by the Horcrux itself, since such critters affect him more in this AU than in canon.

I wonder if magical knees hold up better than Muggle ones do? Just as magical metabolism is different. Dunno. Harry is still young and 'indestructible'; maybe he will come to his senses one of these days. And yes, early morning exercise often is a precursor to mid-afternoon drowsiness :)

Great chapters with all the incidents at Gringotts and a much to careless, exhausted Harry. Imagine Voldy is knocking at the Hogwarts gates at the same time when Harry is sleeping in classes.

... and eeek, did I miss something ... Blaise is kissing Ginny? I'm not amused.

Author's Response:

Ah yes, the new breed of Slytherin: not so much 'dark' as, er, dork...

And absolutely! Must definitely encourage the would-be saviour of the wizarding world to get some rest. He will need it in the end

Thank you for the comments, Martin!

Hah! I loved the sequence with Ernie! But now I have to extend my break time in order to figure out who or what clobbered Harry. It''s youre fault if the boss catches me.

Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed Dann, and hope that you managed to sneak a bit more reading in on the sly!

Interesting cliffy. Had to guess who was behind the door. Have my ideas, but I will wait for next chapter ).

Author's Response: Ah! I am almost certain that you'll guess correctly... but I'm glad you didn't blurt it out so that we can leave some of the other readers swinging for a little while.

I think the chapter 15 'person at the door' mystery is actually relatively easy, but if you (or other readers) would like a real challenge, I buried a brief cameo in Chapter 14 that will prove unexpectedly critical later on.

It's a very good chapter and I'm anxious to see the next one. But, as a teacher, I really can't agree with Harry. If you are too tired, the worst thing to do is to moderate a debate, because it drains much more energy than an ordinary lesson. The ordinary one is more or less scripted by he teacher, but in the debate, the teacher has to pay a lot of attention in what the students are saying, must be aware not to speak too much and let the students say a lot of bs without interrupting too much, for them not to lose the spontaneity and not to be afraid of speaking their mind, and also the teacher has to wrap it all nicely. Believe me, it is a lot more exausting.

Author's Response: Thanks lunagranger!

That's excellent insight! The way things unfolded, it is clear that Harry would have benefited from your advice before making a rookie mistake, but admittedly the author also dropped the ball. For the sake of believability, I will like go back and make a few judicious revisions to reflect that assuming a benefit from structuring the morning classes that way was questionable. Poor Harry: he gets the flack for a couple of ineffectual classes and gets assaulted. What a day!

What a cliff hanger! What's happening? I thought at first it was Ginny at the door but now I'm wondering? In any case, a good chapter with lots going on. Can't wait for your next update.

Author's Response: One thing is clear -- Harry knows the person at the door. There is another hint in there that might narrow down the choice a bit, but no dead give away. Don't worry -- I would leave you hanging for too long!

Thanks for the review mdauben!

Oh oh -- trouble!

I have to say I love how you can weave humor and gripping action into the same sections! It's not easy to do without sounding crass, but there are some great progressions in this chapter! I don't know if I've seen any other author on this site with quite the same knack for it.

Author's Response: Thanks ebdenis! I agree, most of the stories I've seen tend to keep drama and humour separate. I'm glad to hear you think the blend works okay!

I hope we can continue to receive timely updates? Bad author.. Don't like cliffhangers.. Great chapter though Got a little long and wordy, but I don't know if you could change that or not.
Thanks Look forward to the next one.

Author's Response: I'm happy to say that as long as validation occurs in a timely fashion, I should be able to continue to give you one chapter per week through until I post Chapter 19. After that, I'm not sure, but would love to finish crunching rough drafts in the next month.

If validation lags (which was certainly not the case on this chapter -- thanks archivers!), then I usually remember to post a semi-current draft at: http://ghlfiction.tumblr.com/

I hear you on the length. When I first drafted this chapter it was 8000 words, but I realized when I went to revise is that I had a lot of plot elements and character development in there that was a) glossed over a bit too quickly, and b) important for future chapters. I will almost certainly go back later with a jaded eye and trim things to improve readability, but for the time being I guess you can consider this an unabridged version :)
