Reviews For The Prevailing Counterpoint

Regarding my mode of resolving the Horcrux situation, I'm glad you enjoyed that! It could never have happened in canon, since it required much more 'bravado' in Harry than Rowling could allow (she wanted him to remain relatively pure, and be a hero only reluctantly, which is fair). Of course, it's much harder to rationalise canon's failure to learn much from Ginny's ordeal. I'm sure there have been essays written in support of why it had to be as it had to be, but I doubt I will bend. Yes, 'Trix' is definitely a double-entendre, and yes, one of those allusions is to Bella's name. And finally, I can't recall precisely how I responded to your qualms about MoM involvement (interference?) in education, but my current stance is that there were likely justifiable reasons to believe it could be a win-win situation (in particular, the dire situation of Auror and Hit-wizard staffing), but again I believe that Trix speaks fairly clearly to how such a relationship is an invitation to abuse. It would have been all in Latin, of course, but if you've been blessed with a traditional European education that would surely give you no more difficulty than English. There is one story (unwritten, but semi-requested) into which such detail might plausibly fit... Never say never... Your point about Aurors at Hogwarts is apt and timely, since it is a detail that should be addressed in Trix, but that I have not yet fleshed out. I think it is fair to say that things will go wrong -- mostly resistance from the Auror & Hit Wizard rank and file to listen to willful, uncompromising teenagers like Ryan and Jennifer. Those disconnects may well contribute to the intelligence gaffs that lead to Ginny becoming imperiled. Anyway, thank you very much for helping me to condense some of those thoughts! Using the phrase 'true phoenix song' is high praise indeed, and I greatly appreciate it! And of course this chapter largely resolves your question about Fawkes... although perhaps someone might question further whether Fawkes has played a vital role in the plans of great wizards, or if great wizards have played vital roles in the plans of Fawkes? I can't believe you actually made me feel a bit sniffly over Voldemort -- not sure if that's been done before on this site! Anyway, I love your outlook. It's always so positive. Some of your characters are real nut-cases, but charming in so many ways. Well done! Thanks EB! Yes, I suppose my treatment of Voldemort/Riddle is probably fairly unique, while in one sense the uniqueness ties back to an aspect of Rowling canon.
Glad you like the characters; it's been great fun to write them! Thanks LG -- it's great to hear that you enjoyed that! I find humor very difficult to write, but *immensely* rewarding to get right. It almost always takes about 2-3 times longer to compose and edit the humor sequences, but I simply can't imagine not tossing the occasional funny vignette into the mix. Life is too short :) Reviewer: SYLVELLE Signed Date: 2014.08.23 - 07:07PM Title: The End and a Beginning Looking through the reviews and noticed I didn't review this chapter. Hmm. It was a good chapter is this the one with the cliffy? Been a while. What can I say I love this story I love your characters and hope to see them again, you could continue this into the future you know. What do Harry and Ginny end up doing besides getting married and having babies. Ah! You have struck a chord; a quidditch-relationship might blend well with (or enhance) an idea that I had been considering for post-Hogwarts Harry & Ginny. To date, Harry has subjugated his quidditch prospects in favor of his own more idealistic foci and in being content to leave this as an area for Ginny to shine. However, based on a rough plot-line that I'd been considering, I know just the person to put pressure on Harry to dust off the old broom. Hint: it will not be a Weasley, and the recruiting team would not be Chudley.
Hmmm.... if this continues, I may graduate from 'Blackfoot moments' and on to 'Sylvelle stories' ;)
Either way, I do believe I will take the time to read through st122's stories and get a feel for what fresh new ground there might be in the area. Thank you very much for the ideas, Tricia! There's something here for just about everyone -- action, redemption, humor, a bit of racy flirting, transcendent imagery and, in my opinion, one of the most romantic short sequences on this site in which no snogging or lascivious details are given. Bravo! I'm glad you liked 'the smile'.
Thanks for the review, Dann, and for the support all the way through! Reviewer: mwinter Signed Date: 2014.08.22 - 09:49AM Title: The End and a Beginning Awaiting more. | |||||||
