Good to know that Harry has an escape plan in place and is willing to use it to help Severus. The rescue mission was very impressive. I am glad to see that Harry and Ginny have come to an understanding.

Author's Response: Well, it was going to happen sooner or later, wasn't it?

Find myself re-reading this. What a great chapter.

In a number of ways, this is my favorite of your stories. Love The Thorny Rose as well...but this one may be your best, IMO...

Author's Response: It's a toss up between Thorny Rose and this as my favourite story (of the one's I've written) too. I think TR just edges it, particularly the third part when I was just having a riot writing it. The new story I'm writing is actually a bit of a cross between those two stories, with some SuperPower! Harry and Ginny, and a Ministry Six flavour thrown in. Now, if I could only find more time to write it. :-(

Oh thank goodness or Snape and Ginny. Glad to see the kidnapping resolved quickly. I hope Harry and Ginny are leaving with Snape. You know with the mini death munchers in Slytherin it isn't safe for them.
Now to just keep dumbles out of the mix.
Still loving it.
Tricia

Author's Response: I was going to have three full chapters of Harry being tortured and losing body parts in each paragraph, but then I decided to let the kind, sunny-side of my personality gain control. It doesn't happen very often, so make the most of it.

This was a fun chapter to read, with Ginny's thoughts and all. The only negative point is that everything was a bit convenient for the rescue. These things rarely go as planned in the really good stories. It was all well written though.

Author's Response: I don't think they had time to actually put a plan together for it to go wrong. Besides, getting caught by Draco and his pals at the end hardly qualifies as a complete success, does it?

Well great Florean Fortescue's fastidiously hand tied fishing flies! The Machiavelli of marvelously mind-boggling mysteries has merited us with more literary brilliance! I've said it once and I'll say it again: I'd rather deal with a Hungarian Horntail with a sore throat then Ginny weasley in a snit! That escape scene was worthy of an episode of "Mission Impossible"! I think Malfoy is now an ideal candidate for a re-occuring role on "Walking Dead"! Harry and Ginny are a formidable team, indeed! The sexual heat between them is hotter than fiendfyre! Can't wait for the next chapter! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Author's Response: Hand tied fishing flies? I though Fortescue made ice cream! Does this mean he does a nice line in trout-flavoured ice cream? (Ick! I think I just made myself sick just thinking about that!) Its a shame these stories don't come with music, as the Mission Impossible 'dun, dun, dun, dun, dun-dun' theme would have fitted in nicely. Or perhaps 'Tip-toe through the tulips' would have worked equally well.

You know, I'm almost sad to see Snape leaving the story (and Harry). Contrary to canon, he is much more "likeable" here and also a very useful ally to Harry (and Ginevra). Not only as a source of information and helping in Harry's rescue, but also at keeping Dumbledore at a distance from Harry and the Slytherins.

I am curious who will replace Snape as Head of Slytherin House and/or Potions Master, as Slughorn is already dead. Maybe Dumbledore will be temporary Head of House, that will go done well with Harry and Ginevra (and the rest of the Slytherins)? Or will we have a short time period with no Head of House, ohhh the possibilities that would give for a little "House cleaning" by Harry and Ginevra.

Looking very much forward to the next chapter. BTW what happened with the flashbacks, I missed them in the last chapters.

Author's Response: Snape will definitely be replaced at Slytherin HoH, and it will all be part of Dumbledore's dastardly plan! Not ever chapter has a flashback, and I tend to try and make them have some relevance to the main body of the text. With a lot of time spent catching up with Ginevra, I felt one wasn't really required here, as her reminiscing was almost a flashback in itself. You'll get an extra length one next chapter, though.

OK made the fatal mistake of reading some of the reviews from other readers before writing mine and feel very inadequate. Oh well that's normal for me so here goes. Loved it just like all your other chapters glad you didn't dwell on the torture and loved Ginevra's point of view. Glad they're partners as they truly need each other. So there it is no reference to other writers, stories and there is no alliteration (I think I know what that means). Thank you Mr Brennus for entertaining me through your wonderful words which are no match for any attempt on my part to impress you with my review. But I must say I enjoy reading the reviews and your answers nearly as much as reading the actual story.

Author's Response: Trust me, I'm impressed with anyone who leaves me a review, so thank you! Some of the other reviewers leave me feeling inadequate, too. At least Aurorofthelight didn't do his entire review in Hebrew this time. I don't know, I rely on Google Translate ONE time and I never hear the end of it... ;-)

Hey again. I think we both would agree that my last review wasn't particularly helpful. For what it's worth, I think I figured out the source of my nondescript grumbling, and there's not much you can do about it. I believe that in your best chapters, you dole out moral and circumstantial quandaries and challenges at about the same rate that you 'address' them. By 'address', I mean a certain minimum amount of writing effort that it takes have the quandary to arise, and be recognized/assimilated/rationalized by the affected character. In this chapter, there are a whole bunch of sophisticated (i.e., complicated, alarming, nuanced) quandaries that arise, and substantially outstrip the text and energy available to resolve them in detail. This chapter is a little like reading John Steinbeck, when a lot of the story slants toward Saul Bellow.

Ah hell -- what am I chattering about?! It's a good chapter in a fine story. I need a drink.

Author's Response: If you're getting the drinks in, mine's a pint of Hobgoblin, please.

Interesting. The first time I read through this, I was left a bit dissatisfied with the Malfoy Manor action sequence; feeling as though you were more on the 'telling' side of a writer's game of 'show-and-tell'. However; rather than just take a whack at you with unsubstantiated complaints, I read it through a second time and, indeed, am now coming around to feeling it was well written. The second half of the chapter still somehow seems to be missing some of the inspiration that pours off your best chapters, but I can't really pin it down to anything specific.

I have a minor quibble as to why Snape didn't cast a disillusionment charm on Ginevra in the dungeons corridor in order to prevent detection? Of course that instance impacts only a rather minor plot twist, and it's pretty obvious why they didn't do that on returning to the Hogwarts gate (Snape was exhausted and Harry incapacitated; perhaps Ginevra hadn't learned the spell yet).

Typographically a very clean chapter. I only caught:

"If she’d search[ed] my robes"

"wiggling her fingers at him" -- not a typo really, but is this a place where we'd normally use 'waggling', or are we looking at dialectic variations?

Author's Response: Nah, 'wiggling' is fine. It's like 'waggling' but features 0.78% less finger movement and 2.35% more wrist action. No excuse for the missing 'ed' though, damn it!

loved it, especially the insight into Ginny!
and dare I say it, but I really like Snape and how you've written him. I'm glad he's not blindly following Dumbledore's orders
looking forward to the next :)

Author's Response: There you go, now you've admitted you like Snape in this, I'm getting rid of him. You should never admit to things like that, you know!

Thank you for not doing the torture scene. We know that Harry suffered is enough. I like reading Ginny's POV hope to get more of that. Another nice chapter.

Thanks for sharing.

Author's Response: Personally, I think I've suffered enough, too. At least that's what I say when I walk into work everyday. :-(

An action packed chapter.

Author's Response: The next one will be a bit lighter in tone, just to give everyone a bit of a breather. Me included.

Loved this part!

I'm glad that you decided to switch POVs and show Ginny's one. Her view aligns her a little bit with canon Ginny so she isn't completely OC for me which I love because I hate it when writers write canon characters with completely different behaviours and no link to canon as if they were completely different characters.

I knew that Ginny had the map somehow (although my heart totally broke when she thought about her brothers--I would like to think that she will have good relations with them by the end of the fic but I doubt that seeing how dark the story is :(

I have to admit that I'm glad that you didn't show Bellatrix because that would have given me nightmares! And YES Ginny rescued Harry o/ albeit with the much needed help of Snape but still!

Now I'm looking forward to the pair of the them--kicking ass and taking names (although probably not as soon as I would like ;))

Author's Response: I'll be featuring Ginevra's POV several more times in this story, and several other characters, too. Bellatrix will pop up again before the end, but hopefully won't give you any nightmares. You should probably lay off the cheese late at night.

Oh great!
I couldn't understand why Ginny so went insane after the forest incident. After all she literally invited Harry to jump on her. But then I thought that maybe losing her virginity this way would be the main problem. When you mentioned the next chapter wolud be written from her POV I hoped she will come to her senses and I am glad she came.
I don't undestand why Snape can't be their comrade in arms too. He has to be strong fighter and will be useful.
Poor Harry, he looked like a shit. Ginny was amazing in this chapter, I loved it. And the end too, of course :)

btw I have already translated the first chapter but I am going to post it after another one. It is great fun. Your style of language, however. is not the easy one but hopefully i will be able to manage it.

Thanks, I can't wait for another one :)

Author's Response: My style of language definitely isn't easy, particularly for poor Arnel who has to correct my spelling...

Action packed chapter, loved to get Ginnys POV about losing her virginity in her animals form. Another awesome chapter that leaves us wanting MORE!

Author's Response: Does it really count in Animagus form, though? Hmm, one for better people then I to ponder, me thinks.

Brilliant chapter. From the rescue to the partnership.
I'm glad that Snape accepted Harry offer to leave the country with his life.
Looking forward to the next chapter.

Author's Response: You'll get to wave goodbye to Severus in the next chapter. I wouldn't expect too much gratitude from him, though.

Love it love it live it!! Ginevra to the rescue and now they are partners! Loved the rescue scene. Looking very forward to revenge on Draco. Blood Gore and wolf sex what a great story!

Author's Response: Do you know, I have a reviewer on FF.Net rating me purely on how much wolf sex I feature in a chapter now? Low marks for this chapter, unfortunately :-(

Reviewer: skiutahnum1 Signed Date: 2014.10.07 - 05:58PM Title: Chapter 9 - The Gates of Purgatory

Glad to see shape get the shot to get out with his head on and maybe a little pride...glad to see Ginny thinking about the night and working it all out....now the real fun will begin....kutgw

Author's Response: I'm a bit surprised at how many people actually quite like Snape in this, even though he is being virtually blackmailed into helping Harry. I might have to write a 'helpful' Severus again, sometime.
