That was a great chapter. I just wish it hadn't stopped in the middle of the heist.

As for Sophie... well, she's presented as a nice person who manages to get along with everyone. She's the friendly face of the Kharadjai. I like her because of her personality, where I like Scott in spite of his personality (at least early on, I had to get used to him). And we always like a pretty girl :D Seriously, she's given a lot of talents (social, magical, organizational) in a nice wrapping, unlike the brutes the Kharans are presented to be. Yet we know she could (hopefully) still kick someone's ass if the need were to arise. Oh and did I mention she doesn't have Scott's inflated ego? That helps too :)

Author's Response: "That was a great chapter. I just wish it hadn't stopped in the middle of the heist." Multi-parter, my friend. The heist is far from over. "As for Sophie... well, she's presented as a nice person who manages to get along with everyone. She's the friendly face of the Kharadjai." I suppose that's true, though it wasn't her intended role when she was brought on board, just a side effect of who she is. "unlike the brutes the Kharans are presented to be" Brutes, huh? Ouch. I'd think they'd both take exception to that. "Oh and did I mention she doesn't have Scott's inflated ego?" Scott certainly isn't without his moments of arrogance, though, to be fair, most of the statements he makes about how awesome he is are ironic and humorous in nature.

Love this chapter. The detailed explanation of what each person is doing as they break into Gringotts is extraordinary because I can really see the events unfolding in my mind. The actions of the customers, people on the street, and Aurors are all logical, and I can easily understand the frustration Ginny and Ron are feeling having to see it all from a distance. In regard to your author's note, I am certainly fascinated by the character of Sophie. She is not larger than life in the way that Scott and Lila are, so I can more easily relate to her as a woman. She is generally polite and well spoken, instead of swearing constantly, and is a bit of a practical, care taker sort of person. Also, your basic physical description of her could very well have been a description of me, which I found rather amusing.

Author's Response: Glad you liked the pacing and detail. I wanted to set the scene, especially since it was a fairly long build to this moment. The Gringotts mission has been awhile coming. "I am certainly fascinated by the character of Sophie. She is not larger than life in the way that Scott and Lila are, so I can more easily relate to her as a woman." Interesting perspective. I don't know if I've ever thought of Scott and Lila as being 'larger than life', though I suppose they do have intense personalities, in different ways. It's true that Sophie has a gentler approach to most situations, and a less abrasive sense of humor (though she's not humorless, to be sure). I think her speech patterns are very unique to her.

Excellent chapter. The opening quote was a good one. As far a Sophe goes (aside from the will she and Scott or won't they) is her manipulation of magic through the Shape (or however she is doing it). And her anti-cursing dialogue is a fun counterpoint to Scott.

Author's Response: "The opening quote was a good one" Glad you liked it, that was very, very last minute. Man, I had nothing. " As far a Sophe goes (aside from the will she and Scott or won't they) is her manipulation of magic through the Shape (or however she is doing it)" Yes, she's a Local Shape Manifestation specialist. "And her anti-cursing dialogue is a fun counterpoint to Scott" I do have fun writing her because of that, on occasion.

Why have Death Eaters frisk people? Was it backlash from some of them eating lead earlier in the story? I assume they were looking for guns seeing that the other customers had wands that Scott and Lila were finding.

As far as Sophie goes, she has become a not-so-subtle sex symbol in this story. There almost always appears lingering tension between her and Scott. Plus, your description of her curvy figure allows for the imagination to paint a nice picture. I think she overtakes Lila because she has no real male prospects. Ginny is a close second to Sophie.

Author's Response: "Why have Death Eaters frisk people? Was it backlash from some of them eating lead earlier in the story? I assume they were looking for guns seeing that the other customers had wands that Scott and Lila were finding." Nope, you'd have to ask Rowling. They were doing in this chapter exactly what they were doing in the book, for reasons I'm not sure Rowling ever fully explored. I took it as an added layer of repression under Voldemort. "As far as Sophie goes, she has become a not-so-subtle sex symbol in this story. There almost always appears lingering tension between her and Scott. Plus, your description of her curvy figure allows for the imagination to paint a nice picture. I think she overtakes Lila because she has no real male prospects. Ginny is a close second to Sophie." Can't say that's really what I was going for, but it's definitely an interesting perspective. I think Sophie would be 50% appalled, 50% intrigued by her sex-symbol status.

Today, I was wondering when there would be a new chapter posted of this opus magnum. Lo and behold I sat at the computer and there it was. Psychic powers must be developing. Plenty action with a cliff hanger. Deep joy.

Author's Response: Well, thanks for dropping in right on time, then. More action to come.
