It looks like I am a little late to the party, but at least I made it on board before the final chapter was posted. Excellent start to the story. Very unique, but not at all unreasonable. The Diary was quite sentient, it was able to learn about Voldemort's defeat by Harry, seek Harry out, and showed signs of self-preservation. Very exciting start to a story and I am quite looking forward to seeing where it goes.

Very interesting... This ranks up there with Growing Up Kneazle as one of the most imaginative takes on the Harry Potter saga that I've ever read. That being said, is inviting a sociopath into your head ever a good idea? (Disclaimer - used to be married to one.) I'm definitely going to continue to read as I'm fascinated as to where you are going to take this story line.

Hmm... I wonder. At the end is Dumbledore upset about Slughorn or Harry for his confrontation? Riddle free Harry would never act out that way even if he knew Slughorn's secret so I am assuming that his reaction is mostly due to Riddle. I don't believe for a second that the old man will just accept what he has been told so far. I am sure he will find some way to manipulate and gain control of the situation. Dumbledore was powerful and eccentric but he was also arrogant. Jk Rowling put him in a good light but if you dissect his actions you will see he isn't as great as portrayed in canon. Now... Brennus I sincerely hope you do not follow too much canon here when dealing with Dean. We both know he was just filler in canon so we can see more and more Harry pining over Ginny. Other than thats I really saw no reason whatsoever why Ginny even went out with the dude for so long. It was obvious that by Christmas she did not even like the bloke. I only ask that if they are still dating in the beginning of the term then have fun with it. Pining Harry is I MO annoying. In canon he knew Ginny was madly infatuated with him and yet he did nothing. Poor sod. Give him some courage to take what he wants. After all it is not like Geneva is married. It is all fair game imo.
Author's Response: As I've mentioned elsewhere, I'm taking it easy on old Dumbles in this one. that's not to say they won't have the odd spat, but the old wizards will realise that he was on the wrong path with Harry and try and mend his ways. Dean with Ginny? Now, would I ever allow something like that to happen?

Fascinating start to this story. I am eager to see where you go with this idea. It is definitely unique from anything I have read on this site about this year of Harry's life. Looking forward to reading the next chapter.
Author's Response: I have read stories that start with a similar idea (my own 'Thorny Rose' is has similarities) but this one will definitely start going off at a tangent soon. I'd always said this was going to be my Super! Harry story, and just having a few memories of Tom's just isn't going to cut it.

I wouldn't worry too much about Riddle taking some control.
In Seventh Horcrux, Riddle almost took completely over Harry, but the end result is an utterly hilarious Tom Riddle vs Voldemort fight.

Very intriguing, looking forward to seeing where you're taking it.
Harry took a rather large chance--he had no proof that anything Riddle told him was true. All he had was Riddle's word for what was happening. Granted, some of the things seemed to correlate with what Harry'd observed, but most of it was just Riddle's assertions, and we all know how well he can lie.
And there, at the end, Harry realized all this and made my comments rather superfluous. Which makes me glad--nice to see that Harry's starting to realize he might have made a huge mistake.
Author's Response: He might have made a mistake and he might not. Certainly he hasn't acted too far out of character so far, after all, if Tom was in charge the Dursleys probably would be in rashers by now. Mmm... Dursley bacon... drool...

This is indeed perplexing. I wouldn't be surprised if Ol' Tom Riddle has deceived Harry and he ends as some kind of Darth Vader who does Voldemort's dirty work. Could Tom Riddle ever be trusted? Ginny would say, no.
However, such a fraud is always revealed at the very end, right? Surprise me, please!

Welcome back again, into the warm folds of a deep dark whole, Sir! I am still really covering from the psychological damage regarding the odd day surrounding your one shot you wrote. Something about VR, Star Wars and cops who used to be snazzy superheroes. Perhaps it was the peyote salad I consumed, I dunno. Looking forward to seeing Tom Riddle absorbed and conjoined with Harry's uh...soul or something. I'm interested to see how long it takes for Harry to form relations with Ginny (maybe even a lil Luna boob action??) Alas, one can only read what you have vomited from your hard drives seemingly endless supply of stories.

It's always a treat to see a new story from you! I can see where this one does have some similarity to Thorny Rose, but it seem like there are already enough differences to make a new story out of the same idea. I'll be looking forward to reading more of this story and see just how it turns out differently.
Author's Response: Fortunately, it's just the start that's a bit rosy-ish. In fact, by the end of this we'll be in a very different place and the story will be quite unlike anything I've written before.
