Reviews For A Proper Epilogue

Well, after too long, I finally managed to sneak in another chapter! It hasn't been lack of trying - I have 3 weeks left in my busy season and it's been insane, but this one is at the top of my reading list. This was an action packed chapter! Leave it to Dawlish to muck it up. I couldn't shake the nagging feeling that Malfoy was back at the Burrow. It really disturbed me! I like that Harry and Ginny have decided to live somewhere other than Godric's Hollow. Even if Harry doesn't remember it, I think it would be hard to live where someone was murdered so violently, never mind his own parents. I think this is a much better option. Diana Parkinson escaped though, so that means there is more danger to come. I loved Ron in his chapter and how he knew exactly what Harry was thinking. Well done!

To say this chapter is 'wild' is almost a bit of an understatement. I had been shaking my head through the first half over some jarring shifts in pace, but that set things well for the disorienting buzz of the operation clattering into a half-failed, barely averted full disaster. When the dust settled, it was definitely worth 'five-stars' for effect. My one constructive criticism here is that Harry's Dawlish reticence would have had greater impact if you had introduced the controversy/anxiety earlier -- perhaps back a chapter or more. A plot set-up works best when the set-up has had time to 'set'.

Anyway, good action writing is very difficult, but you turned a few fine tricks here!

Author's Response: Your observation about Dawlish is an excellent suggestion. It may be the result of projection on my part, but I always felt JKR wrote Dawlish as a deeply morally ambiguous person. Nevertheless, it would have been an improvement to acknowledge that within the story, itself, rather than assuming everyone else would have the same reaction. Sirius was correct; the world is more complex than pure goodness versus pure evil.

Wow!!! Action packed chapter with a very happy bit at the end. Clearly the Auror Department is indeed a mess for Kingsley not to recognize three traitors in their midst. Hope Narcissa is okay.

Author's Response: Narcissa's fate is going to be resolved in a sequel, assuming I get it written! LOL! Yes, the Auror Department is very depleted and desperately in need of reorganization. Too many ineffective Ministers of Magic have let it go to pieces against the best efforts of Kingsley and our dearly departed Tonks. I never like the character of John Dawlish and, therefore, had him as the leader of the remanant Dark forces.

Well at lease they have the wand and now have it in a better place for safty sake......as for harry and ron going to work right away its not right but its the only way to have peace......kutgw

Author's Response: Yes, they have a better chance to do something smarter with the wand. Perhaps they will. Perhaps they won't. I see a fun sequel in this aspect of the story! Maybe Lily Luna Potter and the Wand of Destiny???

BLASTED SUBMIT BUTTON!!!

Author's Response: I know! I've timed out, resubmitted responses, and then found I had left two, three, or four of them! Ugh!

...Often go astray! And boy this one did with traitors in their midst! Glad the turncoats got nailed even if they didn't bag all the birds! And at least Harry got the Elderwand back! Kingsley sure has a mess on his hands! Always suspected Dawlish was a bad egg --too willing to follow orders from a corrupt minister and the toad in OOTP! Can't wait for the next one! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Author's Response: I agree! John Dawlish always seemed like a slimy git to me. I never trusted him, and he kept showing up whenever Fudge needed a helping hand! Things didn't change much under angry old Rufus, either. While under Fudge's incompetent, totally corrupt hand, Dawlish supported Toad-face way too readily. So, at best, he was a groveling suck-up, at worst, a follower of the Dark Lord. I chose the latter interpretation! I hope he likes cold, depressing places in which the remembrance of Dementors still permeates the walls! I'm afraid it will be a long haul for the Magical Law Enforcement community to bag all the birds, as you so rightly put it! LOL! Hopefully I've been a reasonable explanation why Harry and co. ended up in places I would have thought they would have avoided like the plague. Thanks for the review, as always!!!

Is this the end? I hope that you do have a sequel. I skim through most of the sexual bits as these do not interest me. However, I avidly read your descriptions of places, discussions, characterisations, and most of all the fluidity with which you know how to treat drama, action and adventure. These are so exciting and you know how to hold the reader's interest. Without the sex bits that I skipped, I have throughly enjoyed your story telling. Well done and thank you for updating so quickly as it helps to keep the story going.

Author's Response: Thanks for your review for your consistent practice of leaving reviews. They are the lifeblood of any prospective writer. The story is not yet over. There is one more chapter and an epilogue still to go. Also an outtake which is an alternate beginning -- taken from Ginny's point of view. I like the story better with less graphic sex, but I am at a different place in life and this is a different community than the one in which I initially composed this story. Also, there have been many other changes made along the way, scenes added, scenes deleted, scenes revised significantly, meaningless changes in word choices! It's the same story, but different. With regard to sex, I have received comments that there is too much and comments that there isn't enough. Obviously, that is a very personal preference. I'm very pleased you were able to find a way to enjoy the parts you found interesting.
