I finally found it! I've been looking for the story that concluded with a fight out in the open between the Death Eaters and the Order which had come to save Harry who chained to a stone. I've had fun reading a bunch of old stories trying to find this one, but didn't find what I was looking for until I reread this one. Yippee!
I really love how you build the importance of emotion in this story and how positive feelings are more powerful than negative ones for all the characters. I think my favorite scene was when Harry "discovered" that he loved Ginny and that he could use that love to survive his encounter with the Death Eaters and Voldemort.
Your story brought out emotions in me as a reader. I was frustrated that Harry took so long to give a name to the feelings he had for Ginny as well as angry that Peter Pettigrew didn't seem bothered when he poisoned Remus at Christmas. I was sad when you killed off Johnathan because he had become an adult Harry relied on and had become emotionally attached to. I was even a bit sad for Draco Malfoy when he died in the battle, too. It seemed to me that Malfoy had become a Death Eater because it was expected of him and not something he wanted for himself. That said, I'm always happy when Harry finally gets his head on straight and acknowledges his love for Ginny.
Now, I'm off to find the sequel to this wonderful tale. Well done.
Author's Response: Hello, Arnel! How awesome that mine is a story that stuck in your head enough to seek it out. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Honestly, this one makes me cringe a bit to look back on. I've learned a lot about writing since I tried this. I remember not being able to find what I was looking for, so I tried to do it myself, lol. The sequel is Curse of the Damned.

Wow , I really enjoyed your story. I am aware that I am very late to the party but then again, I have just recently discovered that Harry Potter is awesome so... I would have commented on every chapter as your book really does deserve it but I don't have time. Your story is amazing and I am looking forward to reading your other stories

Wow, this was a wonderfully written story! You had me glued to the computer screen, I've had to drag myself away to eat, sleep and do coursework! This was an emotional and moving story which as well as making me cry and feel sad also made me grin and laugh! Thank you for a most enjoyable read, I am now off to start reading the sequel!

Hey, lookie! Another review! I just wanted to say, good story. Also, I like how you went against the grain (so to speak). Most authors portray Harry as indestructable or (as one of my reviews put it) as a SuperHarry. Well the thing is, yes Harry has done some pretty amazing things in his life, but that doesn't mean he's a borderline god like a lot of people make him out to be. Anyways, just something I noticed and thought to comment on. Great story. ~Jeffery~

Did you write this last chapter before or after HBP came out? Because then I'd have to say you're a mind-reader, with the whole Ministry thing. Actually, you've been leaving them out for quite a while. Till the last chapter, in fact. You also exclude Hagrid, which is like Harry's first friend. Good story though. I wish fan fiction was published, maybe I wouldn't get yelled at for the copious amount of hours i've been putting into your stories lately.
