Reviews For New Year, New Hope

Reviewer: Gin110881 Signed Date: 2015.05.11 - 05:00AM Title: Chapter 18

About half a year ago, Ginny started her Harry watching at the Quidditch pitch and now Harry helps her to get back her self-confidence to fly at exactly the same place. That's a very nice analogy.
The conversation between Ginny and Ron was very revealing; it was great how she gives him advice concerning his relationship with Hermione.

Author's Response: Ginny and Ron have always been close, so it seems natural that they would feel free to talk about their relationships and help each other out. I'm glad you think the Quidditch pitch analogy was a good one. I do too. Thanks for reading.

Ever since reading the first first HP book I've thought of flying as similar to horse-riding. I think it's a combination of the speed, agility, skill and adrenalin rush paired with the importance of being at one and in tune with the animal. So it wasn't difficult to compare Ginny's fear of getting on a broom again (not to mention returning to the same location) to getting back on a horse that has deliberately thrown you or simply after a bad experience.

Re Ginny and Harry's silent conversations, I had wondered (especially during the healing session when Harry was "whiny" about his potion) that surely people must notice the pause while nothing seemed to happen. So your conversation between Ron and Ginny in the astronomy tower cleared that up nicely for me. I loved the idea of Ron spotting Ginny looking like their mum and wondering if Harry was getting into trouble! Further mention of their convesation is a must, because I have to tell you I had a big lump in my throat throughout. It was ALL emotional; from the discussion of what love feels like to Harry financing Ginny's treatment.

I was interested that the ban on underage magic has been changed to allow witches and wizards of 15+ to use magic. I was wondering if this was a move by the Ministry as a direct result of the battle. Are the realising that young people need to be able to defend themselves?

I was so worried towards the end of the chapter as we began to hear Ginny's thoughts on Harry's behaviour over the last few days. I thought to myself. "Oh no! Please tell me he is not going to finish with her!" Was that your intention..to put us on the edge of our seat!? It sure did for me (grins).

Author's Response: This chapter was meant to wrap up all the loose ends I'd left hanging throughout the story so they'd all be nicely tied up and the only thing that wouldn't be certain would be what happens when the students get back to Platform 9 3/4. So... we have Ginny facing her fears with Harry's help, Ron figuring out and accepting Harry's generosity (happily) and someone finally noticing that Harry and Ginny can actually communicate telepathically. The reason for the lowering of the Underage Magic Restriction was to give all students age fifteen and over the legal means to defend themselves and their families from the Death Eaters without fear of having their wands snapped. If I'd written a fourth story in the series, I'd probably have canceled the war-time lowering of the age and made Ginny very angry at having to have the Trace back on her until she was seventeen. About Ginny and Harry at the end... that was more a foreshadowing of what's to come in the next story than anything else. I wasn't trying to make it sound as if Harry and Ginny broke up... honestly! Harry's going to be rather busy in that one and Ginny often feels left out. I hope that makes sense. Thanks again for writing and sharing with me. I look forward to your next review.

I hope that Harry doesn't end up how he was in the first story
I'm glad that Neville got the recognition that he deserves once again in this chapter

Author's Response: Harry, in this story, has become a much stronger person due to the simple fact that he knows he's loved. He's also a year older and a bit wiser than he was at fifteen, so there is hope that he won't become an emotional mess during his time at the Dursleys. And yes, Neville finally received the recognition he deserves; look for a continuation of his research in "Summer Story".

I found your story only a couple days ago and couldn't leave it! I was a little messed with the Quidditch calendar, but I don't think it's that important. What did Draco do to deserve the award?

Please update soon!

Author's Response: I'm really glad you like my story. As for Draco's award... that's the question everybody at Hogwarts is asking, especially since he was one of those who didn't go to Hogsmeade that Saturday... and Dumbledore's not telling! Answers will be forthcoming in the sequel which is called "Summer Story".

Well done;the P-T stuff seemed to fit well. And it's good that Ginny's contribution was recognized so publicly.

Author's Response: Thank you for your review. It means a lot that you think everything fit and was fitting. I look forward to your review of the Epilogue.
