Very nice. Ginny is still very defensive, isn't she? And that cow is a real worry.

Lesley~

Author's Response: Ginny is finally waking up to the fact that she has her heart's delight. It's happened rather quickly. Oh, that cow . . .Thanks for reading!

great chapter again! But what's up with the cow? I noticed and suspected there was something off when it was mentioned for the first time in this chapter, but then, when it was mentioned a second, third and fourth..well, i start wondering.. Like Ginny asked herself ; "Cows didn't frown, did they?" Off to read the next chapter! :D

Again, great chapter. Cant wait for the next chapter....damn, now you have Harry swimming starkers stuck in my head....need to go get me a ice cream. I wish you were my english teacher...need to go do my Hamlet paper. So long.

Author's Response: Wouldn't I love to be your English teacher! Hamlet is a lot of fun - but it's so easy to get bogged down in Hamlet's contradictory thoughts - that the forest goes missing for the trees. Good luck!

Now if the cow was named 'Rose O'Connell' or Ellen Degeneres' I would suggest that you up your rating. However, there is something with the cow, maybe it is 'mad'.:) I just had a fluff melt down reading the past two chapters. I am smiling and acting giggly. I really need to go kiss my husband. Another great job, and I eagerly await more. Cheers, Angie

Author's Response: *Starts humming a Melissa Ethridge tune.* No one ever said anything about the rating of the review thread. It's Friday - go kiss your husband! :)

Ooo! I just started reading this story and I am enchanted. It's like a fairy tale. I can see Harry and Ginny raising their family and growing old together on this estate. Harry seems so happy with the "gentleman farmer" life. It's wonderful to read. I love how you have Harry and Ginny acting like an old married couple. The part where Harry couldn't find the pot, or the cookies, or the milk was hysterical! I wish he was sleeping in the cottage rather than the house -- not because I think they should be sleeping in the same bed (Martha would never stand for that)! One of the reasons that I am enchanted with this story is the cozy, in-their-own-little-magic-world feeling. It would enhance that feeling if they were eating breakfast in their pajamas and having cozy chats as they fall asleep each night. Why can't they just transfigure the big bed into two smaller beds? Or physically move two smaller beds from the house to the cottage? Finally, let me reiterate the common theme in all of these reviews -- What is up with that cow??

Author's Response: The big reason is that good fluff has tension and conflict - so having them too cozy would make that harder to bring about. I don't like bickering for bickering's sake - which would be another way to have them apart and then together. By having them separated physically -(even with Harry away during the day) makes it all the more interesting when they get together. :)

So, Aunt Martha is an animagus huh? Boy, i bet she was a bit disappointed in her form. Ginny swimming in her starkers. Seems to have a great affinity to water, land, air, and fire. Water is obvious. Air. Her wand holds a Golden snitch feather. a refferance to flight and air. Made from rue, the plant that never withers. And any Weasley has a firey tempter. But Ginny swimming stakers. Groan. Comet Moon gumbles; "Oven Cleaner" Can't wait for more. Number eleven...

Author's Response: JKR used the elements with Harry too - he' s a Leo - a fire sign - his surname - Potter associated with clay and the earth- phoenix feather -air - parseltongue - snakes - associated wtih water. Since JKR just updated her web-site and didnt' put in anything to contradict my fic. (Ginny's wand wood isn't a celtic tree- Mr. Olivander didn't make her wand - his father did) Life is good . . .

Twelve uses of Dragon Blood? Oven Cleaner? What does it all have to do with Ginny and Harry? I don't get the last part of it.. can someone pls explain it to me?

Author's Response: I'll try to explain - even though it is deadly to explain a joke. Harry is suddenly given the image of Ginny swimming naked. In order to distract himself he decided to recite the twelve uses of dragon blood - backwards. On Dumbeldore's chocolate frog card in book one - one of his accomplishments is "discovering the twelves uses of dragon's blood." In an interview with JKR, she was asked what the twelve uses were. She wouldn't say - but she did say that the twelfth was "oven cleaner." I should have put that in my author's notes - since not everyone knows about that interview.

The cow is an animagus! Right? I just feel it! I liked this chapter and adored the whole Knot Garden. It must look so...breathtaking. I love places like that and you really described it very good. This will probably one of my last reviews because I'm leaving for four months and won't have acces to the internet...maybe once a month. I'm going to Africa! Can you believe it? It's from my school....I can't wait, I'm so excited. We're leaving in a week, but I'm allready packed! Well, I wish you luck with this and I will read all of this as soon as I get back....

Author's Response: Oh - now I'm jealous ! What a splendid opportunity for you and I'm glad you're taking it. There are many people who would be afraid of that kind of experience, but you are obviously Gryffindor and wil bring back marvelous tales. It won't be terrible to miss fan fiction in four months - but it would be terrible to miss book six! I'll bet it will be coming out just as you are returning. All the best. I'll keep Arpie distracted with work!

Harry and Ginny in starkers? Hmm, interesting way to recite 12 uses of dragon blood. Yea, the cow seems up to no good, I wonder.. Yes, more H/G fluff, can't wait! And Ginny's finally getting a birthday, yeah!!

Author's Response: Only starkers in the imagination of these imaginery characters.

"I'll stay," she said ruefully. Are you going to be like JKR, who uses "grimly" and "seriously" an inordinate number of times when Sirius is present? Anyway, I liked the kissing, loved the oven cleaner, and enjoyed the rest of the chapter too. The swimming scene made me question your rating but I guess I can think of several movies with skinny-dipping scenes that avoided R ratings (Walkabout, Logan's Run, and Hair, to name three) and anyway higher ratings don't bother me at all. Hera reminds me of Ron somewhat (appetite for one thing) but the gender is wrong, so I'm assuming she's just a strange magic cow. There are too many animagi running around elsewhere, and anyway the animagus is the cat. Or maybe it's Draco Malfoy?

Author's Response: I don't plan on going into "R" territory - although I may evoke certain - erm "thoughts" from the readers that would only possible if that reader is skillful in connecting the dots. You know what I mean? Ginny's swim is supposed to be innocent/at-one-with-nature - that kind of thing - because she is alone. Of course, by the time the chapter is over, . . new possiblities have come to mind. I'll try not to overdo in the adverb department!

*snickers* nice mental imagery at the end there... and I like the way Ginny adopts Harry's method of dealing with it. :-) *Laughs at your response to ice princess* Well we all love the fluff, but we can enjoy that without feeling the need to comment on it because its understood and expected. The cow on the other hand is a mystery, so it provokes thought and invites comment. That said... I still don't think the cow is really a cow, though I find the thought that it could be one of the Weasley brothers somewhat disturbing... :-)

Author's Response: Yes - that would be really weird since Hera is a female cow. Ah - mental imagery - something for everyone!

YAY!! You updated!! Hello, Another wonderful chapter. I don't get the whole Weasley thing. I'm a bit surprised that Aunt Martha put Harry and Ginny in the same bed on purpose. I mean, what was that all about. And the cow. What is with that cow? It's totally freaking me out. Could that cow be Ginny's guardian or somthing? Anyway, please keep on updating. Bella (yes that's my real name)

Author's Response: No - Aunt Martha didn't do it on purpose - Ginny jumps to a conclusion here. (more establishment of character for Ginny)

I am never disappointed in your fics. They are so wonderful. The fluff is so sweat. I loved this chapter but I want to see H/G together more. I would like to see a romantic night out watching the stars/meteors. Please please with sugar on top. It would be so romantic.

Author's Response: Your wish is my command - next chapter - your teeth will hurt from the fluff - I promise!

bwahaha. what with oven cleaner and Aunt Martha (am beginning to love her), and more fluff, and the red cow and more Aunt Martha backstory... yay!!!

Author's Response: I'm glad I didn't overdo Aunt Martha's story - i was a bit worried about that. I'm almost finished with her history - so there won't be too much more.

Will say nothing about Ginny swimming starkers . . . won't even think about it . . . number 12, oven cleaner . . . Just kidding. Aunt Martha put them in the same bloody bed on purpose?! Hmm. A very interesting conversation, if more than a bit cryptic. I don't know if I buy the idea of Ginny being in love with Harry ever since she was eleven. Certainly she can't have gotten "over" him to the extent that she herself believes, but I think love is too strong a word for it. Not to say that her feelings weren't real, or not based on anything important, but she was awfully young at the time, and didn't really know him very well. What is it with you and violence against animals, anyway? You'd rather hurt them than hurt people or something? Or am I just being weird. Well, anyway, a good chapter, and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Author's Response: *Disclaimer* no cows were hurt in the making of this story! (Well, except for the ones we ate at meals) The ickle cow was not hurt by the water - just forced away. The point of that scene, among other things, was to show Ginny's ability with water. You will hear more about Ginny's thoughts (and Harry's) about their connection from a young age. Love is too strong a word - but unfortunately that's all we've got in English. (see review thread for RITH for discussion of vocabulary for violence vs. love) I do think that you can click with someone from the beginning - I think Harry and Ron's friendship is the best example of this. They instantly connnected and that friendship has just deepened over the years - even though they've had some ups and downs.

Reviewer: ice princess Anonymous Date: 2004.12.09 - 06:13PM Title: The Knot Garden

Oh, and who's that cow - really? I'm dying to know! With red hair, it's probably one of her brothers or another Weasley as an animagus.

Author's Response: The cow - the cow! After all those helpings of fluff, it's the cow that gets all the attention. LOL. Maybe I should invent a black cow to be "friends" with this one! Although I don't think my powers of invention would cover "cow fluff."
