I've started reading fanfics shortly after HBP came out - I was rather unhappy with it... Kept at it ever since. I prefer AUs and post-OOTPs. And don't particularly like the idea of Horcruces. I like to read fics built by a certain recipe: mix a lot of fluff/romance with a big amount of action/adventure and some drama, then spice with tiny amounts of angst, dark fiction, death and such. End with a nice (big!) epilogue with some "happily ever after" at the very end and there you have it.
