Nennius was a ninth century historian who is credited with the writing of Historia Brittonum. He was believed to be one of the sources that Geoffrey of Monmouth used in compiling his own History of the Kings of Britain. Geoffrey\'s book was one of the first known books to make reference to King Arthur and Merlin in a magical context. Later authors built upon his work, adding Lancelot, Guinevere and The Grail Saga until we have the story which is so well known today. In some ways The Arthurian Saga could be classed as one of histories greatest and most successful examples of Fan Fiction today. Everyone knows about King Arthur but poor Nennius has been long forgotten by most. JKR of course will never be forgotten but I thought it was about time someone remembered Nennius.
