Hello, I am a 33 year old with a son (5y/o) and a daughter (2y/o). I was born in London and grew up there. My parents were from India, but I consider myself fully English/American, as that was how i grew up. I now live in California working for Blizzard Entertainment in marketing/game design (it\'s weird how the two can go together...)
A bit about my life. I went to Military school as a child, and when I was eight, my parents moved from London to America, where I continued to go to a military boarding school. I went to Westpoint Academy, but six months into the first year, I dropped out, much to my mother\'s joy and father\'s dismay. Taking a completely different direction in life, I went to Berkeley, where I basically started to become the nerd that I am now.
My hobbies are music, reading HP fics, playing World of Warcraft, reading Sci-Fi/Fantasy, and watching football (soccer).
I am also a huge Star Wars and LotR fan.
Just because, I will go ahead and name some of my favorite bands. For real information about my fics, look below.
Pink Floyd (I saw them live in \'94, one of the best days of my life)
Just about all 70s rock (LZ, Deep Purple, Queen, that stuff)
Dire Straits, Metallica, Gun\'s n Roses, Journey.
Some alternative, I\'m not really big on that, but I do like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nirvana.
Okay, here\'s the important part of my profile. I have two novel length stories at the moment.
SAVIOR IN THE SHADOWS
This is a story about Harry realizing that he has a war to fight, and the winning of that war will depend not on luck, but on strength and strategy. It is a story about Harry deciding that the Order isn\'t sufficient to fight the war on the horizon, and Dumbledore\'s plan for him isn\'t one that he wants to support. Harry prepares himself how he sees fit, but how can one prepare for the gritty reality of war? Does he have the strength and the will to fight until his last breath, and who will have the will to fight on his side? Join Harry as he transforms himself into a man that can spearhead the side of righteousness and good. Join Harry as he realizes that love alone isn\'t sufficient... that the ultimate victory of good isn\'t guaranteed... join Harry as he enters the shadows to combat the darkness and win the war.
This is rated R for blood, guts, death and scenes of a sexual nature. Oh yes, and a little swearing here and there.
Obviously it\'s H/G, but the focus is on Harry dealing with the issues of morality, judgment, and life that war brings up, especially in later chapters. There is some fluff, but the H/G is mostly about Harry and Ginny supporting each other through the good and bad, and learning that love shines even in the darkest times.
RISE OF THE GREY LORD, PART ONE: NOBILITY
You can read the summary below it says it all really. This one is about a different Harry, who is everything but a wide-eyed Gryffindor. He is cunning, smart, proactive, ambitious... a Slytherin, through and through. Join Harry as he deals with the factions in the Wizarding World and carves out his own place. Join Harry as he wades through tides of illusions and manipulations, to forge his own mentality. Join Harry as he transforms into a leader, fit to revolutionize the Wizarding World. Join Harry as he first learns the most essential lesson of all: how to be a decent human being.
I am currently working on one other fic, which will be a lot lighter in tone that the two above, but I am concentrating on the two above, so don\'t expect a new fic any time soon.
I try to update each fic once every two weeks. The keyword there is try.
Those are my two fics, I hope you R/R.
I am also an avid reader, so let me give you some likes and dislikes, simply because I can.
Rewrites of canon that are different and interesting, where authors don\'t regurgitate.
Fics where Harry is a force to be reckoned with, not a puppet.
Action/Adventure with good battle scenes and intriguing plots.
H/G, where Ginny is portrayed as a fiery, independent woman, but also caring and most importantly, very human. In canon, she may only pop up once or twice to snog Harry, but in fanon, you have to make her Harry\'s equal, not a snog buddy or a Harry-worshipper. She has to have flaws, and she has to have depth. This brings me to a dislike...
Ginny in canon. Yes, I said it. What is there to like about her in canon? She is a blubbering, shy, blushing first-third year. She starts showing signs of getting over Harry in her fourth year, but also does nothing significant to become his friend. She then dates other boys, a tool of JKR\'s to show her coming into her own... as what? The typical highschool popular cheerleader? That\'s what Ginny becomes. Very Mary-Sueish if you ask me. Out of the blue, Ginny becomes a fiery, beautiful, popular chick, and Hrry falls for her. It\'s pulled from nowhere. Then we see them snog... ok, lovely,... then they snog some more... have a conversation or two, break up... snog... There\'s no depth and most importantly, there\'s no insight into Ginny\'s character! It feels like a bloody hormonal teenage fling, no matter how much I like Ginny. After Book Six I thought, okay, JKR got them together becuase of attraction, but now she will show their relationship developing and becoming something more... but no, all we get is a few scenes where Harry angsts about her. Oh well. It\'s just not real, sorry, Ginny isn\'t portrayed as a character that I feel is worthy. In fanon, I have read stories where I feel they fit perfectly, but in canon... it\'s just not there.
-Weak Harry. Harry is the hero, you can initially have him weak and naive, but he has to grow. I don\'t like reading about him always taking crap from everyone. You can disagree, it\'s just my preference. I dont like anyone, be it Hermione, Ron, Dumbledore, or even Ginny, constantly bossing him around.
-Stories in which Voldemort isn\'t powerful. He\'s the most evil, most powerful wizard in generations, so please, don\'t make him stupid or weak.
Okay, that is all. Please read my fics.
