A traveling Muggle carnival or Muggle circus comes to town near the Grangers during one of the summers after Harry's fifth year. (Basically any summer that happens after OotP) Hermione's parents suggest that she should invite her friends to attend the show over a weekend. She does.
Since this is supposed to be 'summer fun,' Voldemort will not be involved. Pretend that he's keeping a low profile or something. . .
