And The Winners Are….
Well, I must say this was a very interesting Challenge. So much was said in so few words. A lot of members participated with some very good stories across the board. Due to the possibly large amount of submissions, Double Eliminations was necessary. And as hectic as it could have been, it went smoothly. Spenser, your Challenge suggestion was spot on. And now the winners…

The award for Best Overall goes to:
“Camera: worn, singed, reliable. Needs photographer.” by Jonathan Avery

The award for Wizard’s Best goes to:
“Prefer money over health? Call George.” by tangle elfwand

The award for Witch’s Best, with the most votes per story, goes to:
“Ladies: Noble git taken. Back off.” by Tamaran Girl

The award for Potterverse goes to:
“Chudley Cannons Season Tickets: Sold Out” by BrunetteGinny

The winning stories are now listed under ” Hemingway Six Challenge: Finals” in our Featured Stories section.

I would like to thank all 22 judges that participated, twice I need to say, to make this Challenge possible: AR, BP, CM, CW, EB, ER, GC, IV, JH, JML, KC, LBS, LC, MG, MH, NSL, RS, RS, STX, TP, TW, and YC. You know who you are and any Challenge would not happen without you.

Because of the way the Double Eliminations went, please don’t ask how well your story was judged. It would be too difficult to calculate out.

The December (2008-6) Challenge is coming up shortly. Remember how Book #3 went? Well, not this time.

PS: very short story, Papa did it, and you will need all your wit and wisdom.

Update: How well did you do:
Only 44 stories out of 658 received more than 1 vote.
Only 6 stories out of 129 semi-finals received more than 3 votes.

Congrats to all the winners! There were some really great stories.

But, I think an "n" may be missing from the clues - I can only read "giny black dog" - am I just blind?

Sir Ollivander - No Problem.

Soccer Devil22 came out of the woodwork on 2008.11.16 - 02:21PM to say:

Yep, you're just blind. So... "Ginny" and a "black dog".... Ginny has a conversation with Sirius or finds out something about him... maybe? ~Jeff~

Actually, my eyesight was fine - there was an "n" missing at one point. It has now been corrected.

Sir Ollivander came out of the woodwork on 2008.11.16 - 09:36PM to say:

Yes, the "n" was missing. I miss-typed something. You all know how bad I play the keyboards after a Challenge is over.

Wow...Well thats my first ever ''story'' all be it in only 6 words! .. maybe I should give the next challenge a go .... never been confident enough to write anything before! All the entries were brilliant .. many making me laugh :)

yentila22 came out of the woodwork on 2008.11.18 - 06:45PM to say:

I would love to see some of these six word "stories" become titles?!

werekitten came out of the woodwork on 2008.11.19 - 03:40PM to say:

Today in my English class, we wrote six word stories about the Odyssey. I had a hard time not laughing as my classmates struggled to figure out just how this was supposed to work, and my teacher was very impressed when I gave Hemmingway's shoe novel as an example of the six-word novel. And thanks to the practice I had here, my six-word novel on Aphrodite and Hephaestus ("Crippled husband? So far beneath me") earned me a sticker :)

Kerney came out of the woodwork on 2008.11.20 - 12:51PM to say:

Congrats winners. One of the good or bad things depending on your perspective was that only one of these really stood out -- and it was the best overall. I wonder what would happen if we took this list to another Potter website, particularly non Harry/Ginny website like fiction alley (I don't want to see what Dark Lord Potter would do with this) I think someone else would have won.
