Intense chapter. So much is happening so quickly to all of them. I'm relieved that the ring Horcrux was destroyed, and hopefully, Albus will recover completely. It is good that Minerva is aware of the situation. She will undoubtedly be of assistance.

Well done do wonder what exactly is going on with that goblin didn't really give us much background info. Though will say you sure are making things alot harder for Harry and Dumbledore it seems you have raised the level of getting rid of Voldy to even out there powers they have now which I really like your not going to make it a cake walk so that is very good.

Author's Response: You've left a whole chain of reviews. I'm going to lump them all together for one response . . .

oh, my god, the battle scene rivals some of J.K's work. Absolutely amazing. keep it up.

Author's Response: Thanks for reading and reviewing. It's been a long time, I know, but the next chapter will be going up within a few days.

The ring has always been a mystery in book 6. Dumbledore kept putting Harry off...and whether you explained it correctly or not (aside from lopping off Dumbeldores hand) it all seems to come together, and the puzzle pieces start to come together.

Thanks for another chapter. I only have a couple more to go before I'm caught up with the story, and then like so many others, I guess I will be reduced to begging for more.

Author's Response: Did you read this story thus far in one sitting? Wow. You've got a lot of patience. That said, I suspect reading it in one go like that might let you overlook some of the more ... interesting things and undercurrents. But I'm not complaining, just warning slightly. I'm glad you're still enjoying the story.

Dumbledore and the ring was a problem, wasn't it? My take, obviously not canon, works in the bigger picture I'm constructing. Watch out for those puzzle pieces. People tend to work them out while standing on nice, plush rugs. And no character in this story is all-knowing... everyone has to figure something out as they go. The next two chapters are already in beta, btw.

Author's Response: How about "now" ? Uploaded, just waiting for validation. Be sure to read the various A/N prefix and postfix notes.

Interesting story. Harry has some big issues to deal with. Needs to learn a little humility and grace. Hopefully he will slowly learn.

Making Ginny exercise until she can't move is not the best way to train someone. He needs to become aware of other people's limitations and learn how to slowly expand them.

Must say that I am tired of the sorting hat. Not sure where you are going with that one.

I like the relationship Harry has with the Twins and Hermione. And I like the friendship that is growing between Harry and Neville.

Good stuff.

Author's Response: Thanks for reading and leaving feedback. I think pretty much all the characters need to grow and mature in many ways, and hopefully you'll witness that happening over time. What he did to Ginny was not about training, for the record. The next chapter will make that more clear. Floppy has a purpose, more than one really, so you'll see the hat come and go in the story.

This is a very interesting story so far. I like how you've incorporated parts of canon (Horcruxes) and still managed to be different in starting Harry off 4 years later. I like the sarcastic and pranking nature of Harry - and the fact that he stands up to authority figures. I think I'm going to enjoy this prank war when you're able to get it into full swing. I'm not sure how long you plan this series to be... I guess at least 3... but it looks like it should make for an interesting ride. : )

Author's Response: Thanks for reading and leaving feedback. Yes, this story is in three parts, and there is going to be a lot of fun and mayhem the entire way through. There are strange lessons behind pranks, aren't there?

Interesting story, and I'm enjoying it. You pack a lot of complexity and detail into the tale, both in the political situation - War Mages, apprentices, Harry's mentors, the Hogwarts situation, etc - and also the mechanics of how magic works. Fresh ideas (the occlumancy rings, the rune/ward details and so on) and at a right-angle to most of what's out there.

Your characterisation is frustrating me, though. I guess I just plain don't like the characters; or at least the ones that I would normally expect to like (and enjoy liking). Hermione - my favourite character - is a walking Mr. Spock in your story, except she doesn't even have the intelligence she normally has. You/Harry take pains to point out that she's clever, but I have yet to see it; all she's done so far is follow Harry around asking lots of questions - but making zero deductions. You/Harry tried to explain it away as her choosing to deliberately pursue negative areas, but when it comes down to it you've dumbed her down a lot, I feel.

Ron's just an idiot, but he's like that in many a super!Harry story, so I can't really fault you there.

Ginny peeves me a *lot*, you've got her hopelessly messed up, and in a super!Ginny variant that never really appeals to me. Lots of pompous independence/confidence, strutting around, which isn't really warranted or justified; a flare of convenient super-powerful magic that, I suppose, makes her just happen to be the most powerful (super) student at Hogwarts; demanding of Harry, full of ego; and so on. Yuck. I don't like her at all.

Please don't misunderstand - I'm enjoying the story, it's quite entertaining and you've got some great creative ideas and such. I don't think the story will appeal any more to me, though - I won't form any attachment to it - until I feel some concern for the characters, some empathy. And at the moment I'm too irritated with them to do that.

Cheers, thanks for sharing your writing with us.

Author's Response: I'm glad you're enjoying the story. I spent quite a bit of time devising the "rules" for how and why things work, as my betas could tell you when they aren't beating me about the head and shoulders. A couple of specific points I want to suggest to you:

I think you've got a similar problem to a few other readers. You've read so much fanfic that you're making blanket assumptions about who these people are, what their histories are, and even about the presence of super!characters. When you read Echoes, you'll have a much easier time if you can set aside that mental baggage train from the rest of fanfic, and bear in mind that these characters are only superficially shaped in the same was as "canon" characters are -- if they resemble them at all. These characters have also been interacting for about 10 days now. Not a lot of information to base an opinion on, is it? You're also experiencing this story (thus far) 99.9% of the time exclusively from Harry's POV. What Harry doesn't see doesn't go into the story yet. How does that bias the images? Oh, and watch out for that rug you're standing on.

Thus far in the story, about the only characters that are likable are Remus, Edgar, Neville, and David. Maybe Fred and George. The rest are all kind of getting under your skin, aren't they? It shows that every character (even those that you might like) have some growth and discovery to do. Whether that is their character growing or your understanding of the character growing ... that's really the fun part, isn't it?

Ron: He's not an idiot, but I can appreciate that he might seem that way at present. Hermione: I don't get the impression you understand what 'negative knowledge' really is, and how major corporations have major legal battles over it since it can make or break and entire line of research -- not a slight or anything, but it does point out I may need to explain that a bit more. Ginny: your description has me laughing, because I have no idea how you landed it -- I'd have to say, "No" to all of it except that she does, in fact, have some issues going on. She's definitely not more powerful than anyone else. In fact, as the next chapter will point out, "powerful" is an abused concept that I'll have nothing to do with as an author.

I'm glad you're enjoying it. If you do continue to read, I think you'll find that by the end, things will be Quite Different.

wow i definatly didnt see this coming. this has gotta be the most intense non time travel AU fic ive ever read. i love it. will there ever be an h/g element here. cant wait to see how it develops. rock on!

Author's Response: Thanks for reading and enjoying. Yes, there will be an H/G element (it's one of the attributes on the story). No worries -- I don't do Angst, so there won't be pointless relationship stupidity just to keep the plot moving. Of course, everything has to happen in its time... Bear in mind they've known each other for 10 days, some of which has not been pleasant.

Good chapter...sorry it took me so long to read...i was in the middle of reading a long story, and wanted to finish it before reading my updates

loved Harry and Ginny's interaction at the end...im guessing the 'old coot' put a fidelius charm on the rooms...lol...thats what i got at least...

and will you stop dredging up more questions and answer our existing ones?!

loved it...a very busy chapter...was quite surprised when you had Harry CHOP off dumbldores arm...i was like...O_O....i was so shocked....

well...i cant say much more...incredibly tired and currently in need in of a strong Pepper-up potion...

loved the code in the letter...took me a minute to figure it out...but i suceeded...YAY...i cant wait to see if ginny puts two and two together...the map and padfoot and moony...lol

love it....absolutely brilliant...too tired to think of things in overly detail, so i am afraid this isnt as colourful as some of my previous review...so terribly sorry...forgive me?

update soon...which means appx. a week...ha...i have you figured out...so there!...lol...love it...more soon...~Ginny M~

Author's Response: Real life always gets in the way of other events. I'm glad you're still enjoying the story. Answers to questions can only ever lead to more questions. I've answered quite a few questions already in the story, and now you want more answers? You'll get them, all in good time.

Unfortunately, I think the next chapter won't make my normal posting schedule... Patience, please!

A very interesting chapter.

I wondered if Fawkes would show up. I gather he would be unable to help Dumbledore out?

I like the flirting with Ginny.

The fighting was well done and well thought out. Dumbledore gone evil..... He is going to have a tough time dealing with that.

Maybe Harry's image can be improved if Dumbledore says that Harry helped save him.... He doesn't have to say from what.

I'm enoying the story immensly.

Best of luck on the next chapter.

Author's Response: Thanks for reading and leaving feedback. What exactly can a phoenix do? That's a bit of a curiosity, is it not? Canon attributes a few very simple (but powerful) things, but is that really all there is to the phoenix? I've opted to go a somewhat different route there than a lot of stories...

Thanks for the thoughts. Dumbledore evil -- perhaps? Harry and his image -- does it need to be changed? All things shall become less clear in time...

I think that if you don't get a nod for Best Action/Adventure with this chapter, I'm going to cry...

I see we went with cutting off DD's arm anyway. *sigh* Poor man.

And ooh, I can't wait either to get my hands on how you think Ginny should be "nice" to Harry. Hee.

Author's Response: Getting a nod? As in, nodding off? No, no, you mean those monthly awards, how silly of me. You honestly don't expect anything to change there, do you? I tend to think that Dumbledore is rich in life, rather than poorer in body. Ginny will be nice to Harry. But as I mentioned to others, nice is very much in the eye of the beholder...

Interesting chapter. I knew Harry would cut off Dumbledore's hand as soon as he grabbed his sword. I look forward to Ginny's next training session.

Author's Response: Glad you're still enjoying it. I thought the forthcoming confrontation and conclusion was pretty heavily depicted before the battle even started, but my betas and proof reader only groaned at me when I suggested as much.

Wow that was a great chapter!!! The fight sceans were riviting and as was the whole chapter. I love his replacments for wonded and the hospital wing they were great.. the body shop... I mean where did you get that it was funny. I also continue to like the interaction between Harry and Ginny although I can't wait to see thoes two go head to head and get some of there questions and other things resolved. Now that mirror is something else, either it is charmed or Harry has some problems with himself that he dosen't even relise. Well great chapter and update soon :)

Author's Response: Thanks for sticking with me. I'm glad you're still enjoying it all. Harry and Ginny do just seem to have lots of issues, individually and collectively, now don't they? And the mirror? Surely you know by now that I can't answer that.

oh i forgot to mention that mexican stand off was absolut brilliant althoug it could eaqually applied to any number of kurasara (i no thats not how you spell but i dont have any of his films to hand sorry) . what with evryone going fro a absolut montion lesss to lighting fast pin point action in the blink of any i and it seams evry action sean you do just reads so smothly that its relly esey to picture it happaning.

Author's Response: Yes, those are fun films, are they not? If you haven't seen it, I suggest you watch "Heaven and Earth" by Haruki Kadokawa. Fascinating, and worth every moment. Note how quick each fight is. When working with swords, and being competent, more than 3 exchanges and one person should be dead or very close to it.

Thanks for reading, and leaving feedback. I'm glad you're still enjoying it all unfold...

famtastic chapter one of your best i was wondering why you thought it rated a R untill harry takes dumbeldors arm off with his katana.
It was great to see a harry dumbeldore fight as i think thats a first and boy did they go at it it will be very intresting to see how dumbel dore and the est of the staff reacto to the one armed headmaster (at least now he can beat moody in a war scars argument and willl moody be turning up as the way youve alterd the charecters hed feel right at home) .
So harry notices how ginny whears her hair when planning or carrying out a prank intersting as ihe is obvasly notacing her more ten he lets on and relly looking forward to how ginny responds to his challenge altought i suspect chalanging ginny to any sort of contest may not be one of his smatest moves. keep up the exceelent work and please post soon.

Author's Response: The rules are that the whole story has to be rated as per the worst chapter. I knew up front that there will be scenes of graphic violence and other things, so... R it is. I plan on continuing to warn readers the first few times one type of R-worthy event comes along, but then the warnings will cease as I'll feel like I did my duty to warn all and sundry.

I'm glad you enjoyed the short rumble. There were a lot of fun and interesting things in there, if you read it closely. And I doubt anyone would ever call Echoes-Harry "smart" when it comes to dealing with ... some people.
