Well overall I liked this year much better than last years though the only thing didn't like was the how rough Harry is on Remus and Sirius(though guess can see him being rough on Sirius.) Really liked the added in parts of the power plays going on now keep up the good work. Can't wait for the Yule Ball in next year have the feeling Harry will take Ginny though I have been wrong many times with your story you go in different ways than what I draw lines to though I am fairly sure about this one.

Wow, this whole 'Grey Maiden' series is brilliant. I just love how dark it is compared to the 'Harry Potter' series. Can't wait to read the next installment.

Sadly, I think that if I had to describe Harry in one word at this point, it would be "brainwashed." As much as he's learned, and as far as he's come over these first three books, Daphne can still do no wrong in his eyes. He would deny that, of course, his actions indicate otherwise. I honestly believe that if Daphne had cursed Hermione and Ginny for letting Harry go off alone, and killed Sirius even though she knew he was innocent, Harry would find a way to rationalize it so that she would come away blameless in his mind. That frightens me.

I'm not sure if you intended this or not, but I REALLY dislike Daphne at this point, and I find myself hoping that Sirius will get custody of Harry. I know there's really no chance of that happening (this is the Grey Maiden series, after all), but the more I learn about that woman, the more I think she ought to be cellmates with Bellatrix. Sadly, the trend that I've noticed is that Daphne always comes out on top in every confrontation. She's gotten Dumbledore and Remus to admit they were wrong on at least one occasion apiece (and I still think that Remus, at least, had no reason to do so, since he wasn't really wrong). It seems the only time she's wrong is when everyone else is too, but so far I can't recall her ever being bested in any contest. I don't mean that as a criticism, and you could probably point out several instances that I've overlooked where she has been beaten; all I'm saying is that it makes Harry's future look a little bleaker.

Getting back to the subject of Harry being dangerously devoted to his guardian, his words in chapter 18 when Sirius asks if Daphne has hurt him -- “You wouldn’t understand. You weren’t there! ... She didn’t mean to hurt me! ... She wasn’t…she wasn’t thinking, ... She didn’t… It wasn’t abuse, Sirius.” -- sound eerily like the excuses that abuse victims often make for those who are abusing them. Kind of makes me wonder if Harry hasn't been subjected to (unintentional) psychological abuse from Daphne. Even more than that, though, I find it disturbing that he's now able to dismiss Daphne using the Cruciatus Curse on him, but he doesn't think he'll be able to forgive Sirius for using the Imperius Curse under what he admits were desperate circumstances, even though he knows it nearly killed Sirius to have to do it. And Harry can't even see the incompatibility.

Anyway, in all I just want to tell you that you're doing a wonderful job of crafting a very dark story. Even though the characters anger and frustrate me at times, I'm enjoying it very much, and I look forward to reading the next installment.

Author's Response: I agree with you. Harry's most glaring weakness at this point might be his stubborn loyality to his guardian. And as sane and reasoned as she can seem at times, when the pressure is on, she becomes irrational, violent, and cruel. She's become consumed by grief, by loss, by a burning, unquenchable desire for revenge. She's a brilliant, powerful, and unbalanced vigilante. That's bad. It also inserts a ticking time bomb into the relationship between Harry and Ginny. Ginny has seen firsthand what Daphne can and is willing to do. Harry is blinded by his loyalty to her. You have to understand, Daphne was the only adult role model in his life. She took him in, provided for him, loved him, taught him, gave him strength and a burning desire to learn and master everything he possibly can. In many ways, his upbringing with Daphne prepared him for a role that canon Harry could not have played. But his unceasingly loyalty and love, despite everything she does, is disturbing when her actions and thoughts are considered. Note that almost everytime that Harry speaks to Daphne from his POV, she appears perfectly sane. Yet from her own POV, and that of others, her problems become glaringly apparent.

I'm really, really sorry for the lateness of the review, but I had a tough week , or half-week, whatever, and I'm exhausted.
I'm very glad with the way the story's going! Harry getting attention, not for being a Slytherin and people thinking he's... well, a fraud in the role of saviour, or because of being possessed by some maniac, but for being very powerful is a very good change, especially if you consider the fact that the purebloods, even the more sceptical ones like Greengrass (liked to read she was stunned at Harry admitting he was not opposed to Dark Magic, btw, that must have been an unique moment in the series, lol) now admit he's not as worthless as they thought he was...
There's something that made me curious when you spoke of Dark Magic that way in this chapter, though. In your series, what are the main differences in rituals, beliefs, traditions, way of being in the society of the ones that support the Dark and the Light? More, what's your definition of Light and Dark? It's certainly not good and evil, like in most authors' cases, and you've already touched the subject here and there, but I'm interested in the way you conceived this world. Is this going to be talked about more deeply in the series?
Anyway, back to the review. The part about Ginny's dreams made me all shivery. I loved to see more of Remus and Harry interacting, and I can do nothing but pray you don't kill off any of them, lol. I laughed at the library scene with Hermione, purely because I'm like that too, always nervous that I'll fail - the only difference is that I'm not a genius like her *glares at the genius character* And Pettigrew finally got to Voldemort! Argh!
Eagerly waiting year four,
- CM

Author's Response: As you know from my profile, I'm a big Star Wars fan, so some of my inspiration for differentiating them comes from that. Of course, in that universe, the Dark Side always ends up consuming the wielder no matter what. It's different in this case. But I sort of hinted at it in the scene with Greengrass - emotion is the key. I'll elaborate more as the series progresses.

Some interesting events to think about until number four, do have to wonder how Ginny is going to work through things if she can't talk to Harry about it, I'm not sure whether Hermione would be able to provide the help she needs to get through something like that. Maybe Mrs Weasley...

I must admit that I didn't enjoy this story as much as the first two, I'm not entirely sure why, but its most likely the dragging out in some areas and too much emphasis on Harry's plans and thoughts (and others I suppose), though this is good it kinda got too much, not enough actual things happening. Too much thoughts and opinions rather than actual events (I'm not sure how to explain it, so forgive me if this doesn't make sense).

Don't take what I've said the wrong way by any means, its just something I felt and my opinions quite often differ to others. This was still an excellent story and very well written, you have a way with words and descriptions that is excellent and a majority of authors can't hope to get.

Will be most definitely looking forward to book four, keep on writing, you are very good at it :)

Author's Response: Book 3 was in many ways a springboard for the rest of the series. A number of concepts had to be introduced, and a number of relationships established. It did seem slow at about the middle of the year.

Another great chapter, and a great ending to the book, that last section with wormtail would have been a better ending for book three even in cannon, bit of a cliff hanger. i look forward to the next book

Excellent! I'm very excited for next year! And also for Harry and Ginny to get their acts together and start dating already :P I'm also very interested in the way you're leading Daphne's life down the drain. I'm already thinking about how it'll effect Harry. It's all very exciting. Keep writing! You're fantastic! 10/10

what a great end of yer chapter i relly liked how you tied up most of the lose ends but still left eneugh questons for the next book. Iam now asuming that the blonde haired guy from the last chapter is Aiden Greengrass. The whol conver sation with miss Greengrass was very well done i can just imagine the headmasters reaction if he overhered it. (Out of intrest the peregrine falcon is now becoming more common in the U K Iam assuming its the same bird small light gray back & wing and very fast we even have sevral breding pairs in central london due to a very large pigion population).

The converstaion with reamus waas alos good and hopefully they can keep in contact and he can continue to provide some emmotonal surport in futer years.

Ginnys thoughts were pretty much what i expected she relly wants to confide in harry but is scared of driving a wedge into what is a very strong frendship if she dose tell him and i will be very intrested to see what she decides.

defenatly looking forward to the next year as it is probably my favorite cannon book and the is a lot of scope to play with in your alternative univers.
