Harry is just so darn awkward and endearing!
My favorite:
...he took another chance and rested his other hand on the knee he’d been wondering about earlier. It was warm and soft and smooth and freckled and everything he thought a knee should be. " Sigh...

I thought you wrote the scene with Petunia well. I just have a hard time with it because I don't think there's going to be a big heart to heart between Harry and Petunia in DH, so no reflection on you!

Great job so far!

Tina

Very nicely done, Valerie. You handled two difficult scenes, with some very smooth and entertaining transitions. You got Ginny just right, I think -- she's more no-nonsense than Hermione, she's more passionate, she's tough, and she's funny. That's almost verbatim out of JKR's description of her in the 2005 interview, and it comes through beautifully. Not quite sure they'd get that physical that fast, but maybe they would.

Petunia was well-done, although her tone seemed to meander a bit. I'm not sure that her need to rationalize at the beginning rang quite true for her, but it certainly rings true for most people and I can believe it. I think you do need a Britpicker (not me, sorry, I'm just a Yank), because things in Petunia's speech seemed somehow too American, but I'd be hard pressed to say exactly how.

As I said before, keep it up.

Ken

Author's Response: Heh. Thanks again for the review. I've been trying to find a Brit-picker, but no luck so far. If anyone's up for the job, I'd really appreciate it. I'm trying to avoid overt Americanisms, but being an American myself I'm not wholly aware of what those are all the time. I get annoyed with fics that have Petunia terfully confessing her love for Harry out of the blue after 16 years and Harry gleefully accepting it, so I was trying to go with lame justification (on a par with looking good for the neighbors) combined with Harry not giving in to a few kind words after all the crap he's been through with them.

Good chapter. I enjoyed it when Harry realized that Ron was the one that made him realize that he loves Ginny. I cant wait to see what the letter he recieved from his aunt contain. Keep up the good work.

Author's Response: Thanks, I'm glad you liked that part. I think Harry's quite clueless when it comes to people's feelings but he's getting better.

I'm glad to see that Harry got to say what he wanted to Petunia. It was probably very refreshing. I'm glad he and Ginny got back together and their conversation was sweet. Can't wait to find out what was in the letters.

Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing - I'm glad you like it!
