Well seems odd that they were able to go off on there own. Can see Daphne letting Harry go alone not so much Mrs. Weasley.

Author's Response: I think you underestimate the impact of Ginny telling Harry his guardian is a deranged murderer. That's assuming he believes her, of course.

Good...
I liked your portrayal of Bill - trying to find out more about Harry before jumping to conclusions and yet keeping him at a fair distance at the same time in order to judge him. Cheers for valorizing his career choice too - many authors portray curse breakers as just another profession, but I always thought it had to be kind of an elite profession which few could do.
So, Daphne's already dying, is she? That gives her in the maximum until the 6th book (but as your next title is Sacrifice, I wouldn't bet on her making it till then...), which is very interesting. I wonder if Harry will need a mentor at all by the time she's gone - and, if that's the case, who it will be. I'm very curious about this Melinda woman - what or who exactly is she? Like you said through Daphne, no ordinary muggle would even know of the existence of the wizarding world, let alone do such predictions and sensing people like that... very strange, that...
Mad-Eye's set for the DADA job, okay. As for Daphne... I honestly don't have a clue what that talk was about (well, I guess I shoud be more worried if I did know what it was about, lol)... something for the Order, perhaps... I don't know. Good way of getting the readers' attention, though.
Uhm... did Ginny's letter actually say that she was to buy dress robes? Because I remember her canon self saying in GoF that the only way she could go to the Yule Ball was if someone from 4th year or above invited her, since 3rd years were not allowed alone in there or something. Did you change the rules in there (and give Ron pink dress robes, lol)?
This encounter, my oh my... Harry shouldn't have told Lucius it had been him, but he just had to show off, didn't he? Tsk, tsk... I liked the icy tones, though. I love chilling conversations.
Waiting for the next chapter (whenever it comes),
- CM

Author's Response: Damn, I missed another one. I should fix that.

Author's Response: Fixed. Congratulations, you seem to be the only one that noticed.

A very inteeresting chapter that was certanly a surprise with daphne but it dose make sense that ther is a pice for the constant use of dark magic.

The conversation with bill was enligtaning and i can see him ether becuming a great alley or a thorn in harry side not sure which yet & i supose a lot will depend on what path ginny takes as i can`t see him being to happy with ginny learnig dark spells.

That lead nicly on to my next point which is i wonder how much of his new knowledge will harry be sharing with hermione & ginny.

Defentle lokking forward to the start of term what witth mad eye (will he be the real one this time as you ceranly been very creative in keeping roughly to the canon arc but with your own twists). & finding more out about dumbledoors ofer to Daphne

As always, good to see your update on the board. There's a number of nits in this chapter, but it's otherwise a good read. It will be interesting to see what happens if you really kill the Grey Maiden off - it will make for an interesting dynamic. Good scene with Bill.

Author's Response: Daphne isn't going to drop dead at any second. She could well survive the entire series. But it's more of a wasting disease, one that might eventually sap her ability to use Light magic.

wow! daphne's dyin? if she is she should control the amount of dark magic she allows harry to use before the same thing happens to him. if she's going to die and voldemort is coming back, harry is going to find this year and the next very difficult to deal with. easily leading him towards her path. i know harry is strong but everyone has their limits and i can only hope harry's limits are beyond te sky. well, you get what i mean. i really am hoping for more sooner than this one came. it seems to me that lucius might have a lot more to do with voldemort's rising than in jo's version. keep going. this is one of the best fanfics i've read; very original.

Author's Response: I've made it a point to differentiate Dark and Light, mostly in terms of emotion. But I've also discussed the importance of family heritage. If Bellatrix comes from a staunchly Dark family like the Blacks, it would make sense that she would last longer. Riddle, a descendent of Slytherin, is already into his seventies despite completing corrupting his physical form. But Daphne, born of a Light family, is far more vulnerable. As you would imagine, Harry is as well.
