Very touching chapter! I am extremely glad that you had Harry confront his emotions and confess how much better he is with Ginny beside him. Well, we shall see where you decided to take the thoroughly enjoyable tale!

Author's Response: You made me smile with this review. While Harry is rather thick-headed when it comes to bottling up his emotions, there's something in Ginny that makes him want to confront them...and he's always better for it in the end. Thanks for reading. I look forward to your next review.

It was a nice gesture by Ginny not to leave the boys waiting outside the door to the hospital wing. Maybe because she knows how it feels to be left out?
It was good that Harry has instantly written a letter to Ginny, and that Ginny has opened their link in order to talk to Harry. Obviously, Harry has realized that he needs support in order not to fall back into brooding.

Author's Response: I think you've hit the nail on the head with your assessment of this chapter. Thanks for reading.

I did wonder if it was Dumbledore and if the curse of wearing the ring had struck in your story too. I think he must have known as soon as he put it on...I have pondered on several occasions why he would have been so uncharacteristically careless in putting the ring on.

The prognosis of the degeneration of everything but the mind that you described, reminded me of the muggle curse which is motor neuron disease.

It's a lot ofr Harry to copy with without the comforting presence of Ginny being there. I know they have their connection (which incidentally must be getting a lot stronger as the distance between Hogwarts in the north of Scotland and The Burrow in Devon is an awful lot longer than the distance between The Burrow and Privet Drive in Surrey) but its not the same as being face to face and able to physically hug and touch.

Author's Response: I think I've said you'll find a lot of books six and seven in this and my previous fic. The Horcruxes are important, even though Harry, Ron and Hermione won't be arguing over the Hallows becaue I decided not to include those in this last fic. You'll see the facts from HBP and DH, but the circumstances have been given a new twist so that the ideas are fresh and show another side of things. As for Professor Dumbledore's slide into illness, I was thinking mostly of Parkinson's disease (what I know of it), but motor neuron disease fits the bill just as nicely. Also, the concept of enlarging distance in Harry and Ginny's communication will become more important as the story goes on. Keep reading. See you next chapter!

A really excellent chapter. The link to Canon is well done indeed, and it does tie in those earlier loose ands that I think I commented on at the time. I like your portrayal of Snape a lot - I think you've caught him well. The most difficult thing about his character is the very schizophrenia of it. I loved the idea of everyone rallying round to do the potions work. Snape's attitude to this was also well caught. Harry's letter to Ginny and their last-thing mind-link was well drawn. I'm glad you had Ginny make the link. Harry seems so caught up in the disaster around himself. Thanks as always. SF

Author's Response: If you recall in DH, Dumbledore wore the Peveral ring when he came to pick up Harry and then a few weeks later Harry found the ring lying on one of the tables in Dumbledore's office. Definitely foreshadowing to trouble later down the road, if you ask me... so I used it here. Couldn't have Ginny's visit be so Harry-centered, now could I? Severus Snape--and all other nasty, vindictive, schizophrenic characters for that matter--has always been a very difficult character for me to write. I'm glad you found I portrayed him believeably. I tend to make such characters too "nice." As for the mind link, the more they use it, the stronger it gets. Later in the story it's going to be an important element: sometimes Ginny just needs to knock some sense into Harry, you know? I look forward to your next review.

an excellen chapter
I like the way that you've included the curse on Dumbledore
I especially like the connection that Harry and Ginny have - a great idea

Author's Response: Glad you liked the chapter. Again, I'm including current canon in a slightly different context. Oh, and... that connection will play a very important role in future chapters. Thanks for reviewing, ~Arnel

I just read the last 4 chapters. They were very interesting, and I'm happy I didn't have to endure the cliffhangers. I'll never understand why JKR didn't use the Chamber of Secrets more. The word Secrets is plural, but only one secret in there was talked about in the books - the basilisk.

Oh well, I look forward to the next chapter. Perhaps now Dumbledore won't hold onto his secrets so closely.

Author's Response: I'm glad you found my chapters interesting. I tend to agree with you and many others who think the Chamber should have been used more in canon. However, its lack of use give us authors more license to play around with that magical hidey-hole under the school, so in a way, I'm not sorry it fell into disuse by its creator. SS13 will be out as soon as my beta gets it back to me, which won't be long now, since this is the final look-over. Thanks for your review. I always enjoy what you have to say about my chapters. ~Arnel~

well albus needed to start sooner....but then again he thinks he will work everything otu in the end...not so sure this time....harry will be ok i think but then again with out the warmth of a red head (not ron) by him it will take time...kutgw

Author's Response: Professor Dumbledore has gotten himself in a rather tight spot, as you can imagine. The next few chapters will tell. And yes, I've already promised my beta that Harry will be all right in the end, but first we have to get there... Thanks for reviewing.

Ah, yes -- Harry & Ginny's mutual affection is rather heartwarming. Perhaps it might even encourage Albus Dumbledore a bit....?

Well done.

Author's Response: Harry's going to need a dose or two of Ginny's affection in up-coming chapters as things start picking up. And yes, you've called it right... Dumbledore does take the hing... Thanks for your review.
