Reviews For Summer Story

Reviewer: Gin110881 Signed Date: 2015.05.20 - 08:40AM Title: Chapter 34: Epilogue--Service

I have to admit that I have already considered reading For Love of Family. However, the word Auror in the summary of For Love of Family has kept me from reading this story so far.
I have read a few "Auror Harry" and "Quidditch Queen Ginny" stories and they were not my cup of tea. In those post-DH stories, I've read so far, it was mostly about that Auror Harry has little time for Ginny or the family, because he has to work too much, watching the grass grow at Malfoy Manor, preferred in double shifts at the weekends. If he has time, Ginny is locked up for weeks in training camps or has to fight with her B-list celeb status in the press. These are all things that are so out of character for Ginny and Harry, at least from my point of view. That's why I've avoided Auror and Quidditch stories in recent months. OK, I know that these probably are prejudices. Perhaps I have chosen the wrong stories.

Nevertheless, you are right; perhaps I dare one more try with For Love of Family. In this case, I'll pester you again by sharing my thoughts while reading. Promised!

Author's Response: The only time "Auror Harry" really makes his appearance is in the Prologue. Otherwise, the story is about the family dealing with a crisis and how they all react and rally around one of their family members and then the son of a friend. That's all I'll say. Please give the story a chance. I think you'll like it.

It is very sensitive from Harry to have the service for Dumbledore.
He still seems to suffer greatly from the events of last year. It seems to me that he feels himself as old as Dumbledore. I hope that he soon will be completely healthy again with Ginny's help. I had the feeling that she's already moved in to Gwenyn with Harry, right?

Finally, I want to say thank you for a great story of a noble, brave, and a sometimes slightly sad Harry and a brilliant Ginny.

In addition, I want to say thank you for your kind and patient answers to my ramblings. I hope that my quirkiness when it comes to Ginny is forgivable ;-)
The authors always point out that the reviews are inspiring for their further writing. The opposite way is also true, if you get answers from the author to your thoughts or questions, you also like to write a review again. :-)

Author's Response: No. Ginny has not moved into Gwenyn with Harry! Molly wouldn't hear of such a thing until Ginny is at least done with her seventh year at Hogwarts! However, she is dividing her time between The Burrow and Harry's house with the intention to eventually become a permanent resident. In the meantime, she is helping Harry heal from his kidnapping by being her wonderful, loving self and I think knowing he is loved is the best medicine for Harry at this time. I completely agree with your statement that if an author writes a reply, the reviewer is more likely to leave another one. I like reviews; therefore, I answer every one I get, even if the reviewer only leaves stars. A simple "thank you" goes a long way. I, too, have enjoyed our discussions of this story and I hope you'll start reading my Family Series, starting with "For Love of Family," the story that has sparked many of my one-shots. I look forward to your next review.

I'm glad that Professor Dumbledore got the send off he deserved. Your mentioning of Snapes body made me wonder what had happened to him.

One of your last (or Harry's anyway!) comments made me think...when Harry said a feeling came over him that was becoming more common but was taking a bit of getting used to...PEACE. It got me thinking that there are things we take for granted...good things and we think that if someone suddenly got them they'd be very happy. I had never before thought of it as feeling strange. Yes, having the feeling of peace say, but appreciating it ie not taking it for granted. But, I'm nodding my head to myself here (lol!) it could feel strange and maybe a little uncomfortable at first because you're not used to that particular feeling. It's like an abused child being shown kindness and the child feeling confused about what that behaviour means and actually feeling scared of it.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings. I've had an AMAZING journey with your stories. As I've said before, your responses have made the pleasure immeasurable and have also made me feel part of the story. I've felt challenged to really think about my reviews, and as you know...I started taking notes! I REALLY apprecoate the time you've taken to leave responses and can assure you I've got as much pleasure from reading what you've had to say as you've had from me:)

Author's Response: You know, I really did drop the Snape ball in the aftermath and epilogue of this story. I really should have written at least that the good professor's body did make it into the family plot in Spinner's End, but since I didn't, now you know! As far as I can remember his was one of the many funerals Harry attended after the battle. How true about your thoughts on Harry's not being used to having peace in his life, especially since he was one of those abused children confused by kindness! It's been a pleasure sharing my stories with you. You've given me a reason for going back and reading them again. Amazingly enough, there isn't a lot I'd ever change if I ever published them elsewhere: I know a few writers who update their stories every time they post them somewhere new! However, you've made me think and remember why I wrote certain passages the way I did and I've quite enjoyed the introspection. I hope you'll continue to read whatever I decide to publish next, including my current story, For Love of Family. If you do read it and continue to review the chapters, I will happily respond to each and every one. Thanks for becoming my "cyber friend".

Dear Arnel,

My days have been busy and to my regret I just could not find enough time to do this last chapter enough justice and so I decided to wait a few days.

I think you gave this story a worthy end. Not completely closed of but not so open it would invite a sequel.

You did grow with your stories and the reflection of your characters shows it. You made this last chapter wonderfully different by ending it with a burial/memorial yet not making it one sobbing mess. I must admit to pinking a few tears away but that reason laid more in the 'conversation' Harry had with Dumbledore afterwards.
I myself, always have 'conversations' with my Dad or my very good friend at their burial sites.

I loved this story and I have no problem imagining Harry & Ginny becoming very happy at Gwenyn. :D

Thank you so much for all the hours I got to read your stories.

Author's Response: I always appreciate reviews whenever they are written, no matter if the story is read the first day it comes out or five years later.(I just received notice that someone has reviewed You're Still You that I started writing back in 2003! I'm going to answer it as soon as I finish here.) I'm glad you liked how I ended this story. I felt that having Harry MC the interment service in June was the best way to bring the story full circle. He also has the opportunity to say his final good-byes to Dumbledore since he didn't get his chance after they were rescued. Also, I think Harry could have talked to him much longer if he hadn't been interrupted by Ron and Hermione: there's something comforting about talking to someone's grave even though they can't answer you directly. And finally, thank you for all of your reviews. I have some stories I'm trying to finish up and post so you'll have more to read in the future.

Well done.

And I think having the Final Battle in Godric's Hollow was a pleasing bit of symmetry.

I wonder if Draco kept his wand in the top of his cane...? :-}

I think you wrapped things up well -- for now. :-)

Author's Response: Thanks. I wanted the battle to be in a place that held significance for Harry and not Voldemort. It gave him some closure on that particular chapter in his life and also gave him the option of going back to an undamaged Hogwarts if he chose to do so. As for Draco, I don't think he did. He was trying to break the mold of the "Malfoy look" when he removed his Dark Mark and then killed Lucius, so I really don't think he took up that practice. Finally, as of now, I don't have any plans to write any Future!Harry stories. I've started a bunch of others over the years and I really want to finish those before I attempt anything else. Thank you for all your great reviews.

Great work! I loved the emotion in this chapter! It was very well done!

Author's Response: I'm so glad you think so. Normally, Harry doesn't show his vulnerable side in public, the side of himself that only a few people, like Ginny, Ron and Hermione know. However, it seemed the interment was an appropriate occasion for him to show everyone how important Dumbledore was to him. It's also been six long months since the battle, so the healing process has begun. Again, I'm glad you liked the chapter.
