Title: Chapter 6
Judged for competition.
Ah, a multi-chaptered challenge entry, slightly over the word limit. But don't worry -- I bet that most judges won't hold it against you. This was a very well-written fic, with a solid balance between action, dramatic moments, and humor.
So, with just a few days left before the start of term, the builders are desperate to finish the castle on time, so they call upon Harry and the Elder Wand. I'm glad that Harry was able to have his friends Ron, Hermione, and Ginny there to help him.
There were several funny moments throughout. I liked the reference to the bridges that wouldn't stay up (bringing a new meaning to the song "London Bridge is Falling Down"!). And of course, who could forget Ron and Hermione's sneaking off, only to have their bed collapse? LOL!
But this fic has its serious moments as well. I enjoyed reading about the Mirror of Erised's new function as a war memorial. And the Hogwarts canal idea certainly wins points for originality.
The ending of this fic hearkens back to the title: "Hogwarts: A Theme Park?" in a clever way. Harry's question "The world is rid of all evils. What shall we do now?" is reminiscent of "You just won the Super Bowl. What will you do now?" The classic answer, of course, is related to a theme park: "I'm going to Disneyland!" But Ron, in tyoical Ron fashion, doesn't reply with a theme park, but thinks only of his stomach.
Overall, great job. I wish you luck in the challenge.
Author's Response: *squeals in delight* Thank you so much, Jim! The collapsing bed was one of my favourite parts to write, and so were the monument and the water canal...even though it took me quite a lot of time to come up with them. Once again, thank you!! *bows*
