Author's Response: Thanks! As you can see, this whole thing is a big set up.

Chocolate biscuits?! You are wonderful…especially if you’ll get Molly to share the recipe. It looks as if you’re giving us a unique setting for this story. I really do think that it will be difficult for neither one to interfere, especially with a bet on the line. Now what would that be--neck rubs perhaps? Your characterization of the children is right on, and of course he’s going to play with that after being told not to. You obviously have children of your own. Eric B.

Author's Response: Oh yes, chocolate biscuits. Molly actually borrowed my own recipe - if you say please, I might leave a plate of them in the SIYE employee lunchroom.
And yep, my kids were the rather unwitting models for this story. Thanks! -Mel

Author's Response: Trying to close the tag.

Since posting my own, I've read several challenge stories, and all of them have been pretty good. I have to say, however, that yours made me laugh the most, without doubt. You did a nice job of creating a believable (and vaguely mysterious) setup in which the story could play out on its own, per the challenge parameters. That, in turn, presented loads of opportunities for truly hilarious interactions. The bit where the kids 'tell' Ginny about her second pregnancy was especially good. And, of course, the MST3K feel of the entire story was an excellent touch.

Author's Response: Thank you so much for the review-considering the source, I am extremely flattered that you enjoyed it. I have to admit, I purposely set up a situation where I could focus on the parenting aspect of the situation, and of course, the humor, without getting too bogged down in the "changing the future" aspect. I'm glad it worked believably.

Very interesting take on the challenge story. This leads to a whole plethora of questions and the potential for a very humorous outcome for our dear friends. I'm eagerly looking forward to finding out the answers.

Author's Response: Thanks! There is something about the challenges that makes me want to write humor. Even though there is no humor category this time, I just couldn't resist the plot that came to me.

Once again, Mel, you've attempted a style I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole. And succeeded. I'm very intrigued by the lesson that might be in progress.

And the kids fighting...I almost yelled at my kids, then reailized I was *reading* an argument. ;)

Looking forward to the next chapter. As always.

Author's Response: Hehe Andi - and I could never write anything that makes people think and debate like you do - I figure, if you can't make em cry, go for a laugh. The lesson is an interesting one indeed, but it won't be apparent until the final chapter. Thanks!

I like it, nice twist off the challenge.

It's fun to see Harry and Ginny as parents and passing on the finer points of life: tricks, laughter, fun; all the
things that make the world go round with a smile.

Look forward to the next chapter.

Thank you for the entertainment!

Author's Response: I think you will like the next couple of chapters - Lily and James have definitely picked up a few tricks in their six years - thanks for the review!

James

Author's Response: Thanks for the review! I am enjoying all the guesses about what is going on. So far, no one has gotten that close. I actually changed the title from what I had originally planned to make it less obvious what was going on. More will be revealed soon.

That's a very interesting beginning. I can't wait to read the next.

Author's Response: Thanks! It should be submitted tonight.

What about a disillusionment cham on the parchment and quill, although she then wouldn't be able to see it to write.

Author's Response: Hmmm, didn't think about that - I kind of assumed that if she was disillusioned, and touching the parchment and quill, they would take on her disillusionment too. Yeah, that's it. Thanks for your thoughts!

Well, this is mysterious. You've caught my curiosity. Playing tricks on brave 6 year olds....mmmmm!

Author's Response: Thanks! Some questions, but not all of them, will be answered in the next chapter. I have a couple of kids around this age, so I have been trying to channel their spirit here.

Author's Response: Thanks Iva! Chapter 2 is finished and Chapter 3 is more than halfway. . . Not long to wait!

Oh, I want more! I certainly hope you update soon because I want to see what sort of trick Ginny and Harry are playing on their children. And to think that Molly is in on the fun just gave me the giggles; all any curious child needs is an adult to forbid them from doing something and the first thing you know he/she has either broken the thing or gotten him-/herself into trouble. This makes me wonder what sort of lesson Ginny and Harry are trying to teach James and Lily. Hmmm.... The argument over the vaclune sweeper is very well done and sound just like many of the arguments I have witnessed over the years.

Good luck in the writing contest.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review! I am having lots of fun writing Lily and James, and taking a lot of inspiration from my own kids. I think you will be quite surprised to see exactly why they went into the Pensieve, but teaching them a lesson would have been a good idea too. I appreciate your thoughts!
