Rereading this chapter and I love it! Poor Harry. I can only imagine the pressure the Weasleys are putting on him while he's just confused. Somehow I've always imagined that Hermione would be horrible in the kitchen. I'd imagine that being in her wedding party would be a nightmare.

This story is my second favourite of yours.
I like the more "bloke" side of Harry. ;)
And I love Hermione and all the wedding colours she can't pick.

This chapter is really great. I'm assuming here you're not a guy (are you?) but you've got Harry's blokishness down pat, 100% authentic. His behaviour could've come out of a Bloke's Handbook: blather so as not to stare, watch out for her brothers, throw oneself heroically in the path of questionable pudding, and yes, always - help - with - her mum's - dishes. Excellent insight into the world of the clueless young adult male.
I have a question: was the 'ebony, soot, charcoal' line an indirect jab at purple prose? =D

Well, that explains all of the hideous dates Ginny's been on. Does it also explain the bad ones for Harry, too?
My favorite paragraph - 'George leered, Percy coughed, Ron groaned, Harry gulped, Bill raised an eyebrow, Hermione sighed, Ginny settled back.' (paraphrased slightly). I assume that elsewhere birds sang, grass grew, and the sun slowly shifted across the sky. Oh, and Molly made plans for dinner.
It's been awhile since my wedding, but since I married an artist, I know how hard it can be to deal with colors, such as when painting a room (brick red, ruby red, crimson, cherry, garnet, dark rose, raspberry, burgundy, rust, wine, etc.). The "...ebony, soot, and charcoal" line made me laugh.
Author's Response: No, it doesn't explain Harry's, he's just incredibly unlucky and not very adept! I've been learning about colours in my art classes lately ;)

Too short, as usual, but this chapter made a great bedtime story. I love how Harry was mistaken about the Weasley brothers' intent when they cornered him. I'm glad Ginny took the initiative and shared Harry's chair.

and here I thought I had some of the dates from hell! I loved the people they set Ginny up with...although the witches Harry were set up with weren't exactly on the "A" list.
