Well-written description of Narcissa's passing. I like the way you described the dark mark's effects and how it plagued her, even after death. Really interesting story!

Author's Response: Thank you for all your thoughtful comments. I do hope you will continue to enjoy the story and continue to review!!! Thank you so much!! Happy reading!!

Oh, a Malfoy chapter. A short word count has revealed that Draco's part in the story is as important as Ginny's part so far.
You've described very well that a long hike can be useful to think about the details of life. It is certainly no coincidence that Malfoy's recognition that everything has gotten worse since the Dark Lord was resurrected, came on the long hike. I'm curious to see how the loss of his mother and the hard work to influence him. Will he end up as the hero in the title of the story? Hmm, we will see... Anyway, even if I can accept Malfoy as a better man, I will always feel uncomfortable in his proximity.
Snape's mission is explosive indeed. A look at the European history shows, that France will never accept the ultimatum of an English Lord. However, I wouldn't have thought that the bodyguards of the French MoM are such a bunch of sissies. On the other hand, it was a bad idea of the Mayor to endanger his MoM in such a way without warning.
MAny thanks for another interesting chapter!

Author's Response: You are of course welcome! I myself am grateful that you take the time to read and comment. I have never done a word count, so I wouldn't have evaluated the importance of character roles on that basis, though, now you mention it, it is something to think about. When all is said and done we will just have to see how you feel about my transformed Draco, we have a long way yet to go. Snape is a man between a rock and lava flow; I would certainly not like to be him. Lastly, it was not my intention to make the French MoM guards look like sissies, they did after all essentially walk into a sort of ambush. Snape was prepared for what might happen, as they were not.
Thanks so much.

I hope we will find out what all the holes Draco is digging are for. I'm also curious to find out how the Spirit People perform magic. I liked how Draco defeated the Dark Mark on Narcissa and wonder if he will have a similar experience for himself as he travels on this journey to becoming a different, and hopefully, better person. I'm looking forward to reading more about him. It's very interesting how Harry is suddenly being draped in love and wealth while Draco has lost it all, let's just hope Harry doesn't let it all go to his head.

Author's Response: I think I can safely say that your answers will eventually be answered. Draco has a lot to overcome, but I hope he is in good hands for this journey. I am glad you are looking forward to his development.

There certainly does seem to be a complete reversal of circumstances between the two characters. We will just have to watch and see how things develop.

Thank you as always for your time and comments!

I've come to care quite a lot about your Draco. He's so different from the canon character, having had his world turned upside down and literally frightened out of him as it were. I'm very glad he seems to be assimilating into his new society, taking an interest in the customs and traditions of the village. It makes me sad, though, that he now has to become his own man with on guidance from the one parent he truly cared about. The scene facilitated by the stone was quite touching and I hope he finds solace in the fact that Narcissa is now in a better place and that he is surrounded by people who are beginning to care about him. Well done.

Author's Response: The object of the exercise is of course to re-make Draco. It is a challenge! I have seen him redeemed (poorly) in so many fan-fics that at first I really wanted to just write him out oft he story, but I decided finally to except his reformation as a personal challenge to see if I could take the character through a journey that would truly re-make him in to a character worthy of our attention and care. He is on that road, but he still has a way to go.
I am glad you have come to care about him it makes me feel like I have made the right choice to keep him around.
Thanks for the read and the review!!!
