Longbottom Manor is a completely different world as where Ginny and Harry grew up. Everything breathes money. This is usually not a good environment for children to grow up. Anna's father does not seem very interested in Anna. Everything you can buy for money is OK, but nothing to personal. Hopefully their beginning friendship will help both, Anna and Neville, in their development.

I'm curious what Anna might have inherited from her grandmother, and why her mother died. I suspect that there is a connection.

Ah yes, I know. So many questions. But rest assured that I don't ask for any spoilers. Those are just the silly thoughts I have when I read the story.

Author's Response: You're thoughts are very perceptive. The manor is a different world, but it is not a completely overwhelming change for Anna. She grew up comfortably well off in Virginia. The two children being raised together will be a great change from the loneliness they were used to. As for possible inheritance, that will become rather important later. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

The writing in this chapter conveys that there is humanity in all characters -- a philosophy that echoes in many of your reviews. I know in the previous chapter that you wrote Riddle as the lost cause that he is canonically -- a barren soul lacking any compassion or remorse. That's fine of course, but I will be most interested to see how you treat the various conflicted, nuanced, grey characters that Rowling herself began to elaborate upon later in the series. Compassion and fairness to such souls is a good test of a writer's depth.

I'm enjoying your Neville. Until his lionisation toward the end, Neville was lamentably two-dimensional all throughout -- an annoying distraction, bestowed the occasional kindness by real characters as a way of showing the real character's beneficence. Instead you have his as a breathing, emoting, accepting and welcoming person. Bravo!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I have always been drawn to Neville as a character. He has a tragic past, had a somewhat difficult upbringing, and still manages to be kind, decent, and amazingly brave when given half a chance. While I cannot find any redeeming qualities in characters such as Riddle, many other questionable characters have potential, or at least I hope they do!

Anna performing some type of blood magic is rather concerning. I'm glad that Neville has a friend at home now. I imagine he needs one.

Author's Response: Yes indeed. A friend at home is a wonderful change for Neville. Thanks for reviewing!

Thank you for giving us such a detailed account of Anna's first days in England. I'm beginning to like her a lot and I'm glad she and Neville seem to have become friends. I think being together will be good for the two of them, mainly because having someone his own age around will be good for Neville's confidence, especially since their tutor is Remus Lupin. Well done.

Author's Response: Neville and Anna really do need each other. Being only children raised by older relatives, their childhoods were rather isolating. Thank you for reviewing!

The secret to successful fanfic propagation is to introduce compelling new characters that tell you interesting things about the characters you knew. This story is doing a wonderful job of that.

Author's Response: Thank you! I hope you continue to enjoy it.

Oh, oh...why do I have a bad feeling about this? I dearly hope that Katherine didn't raise her granddaughter to take revenge on her behalf ...Neville really deserves to have a friend at home...

Author's Response: Katherine's motivations will become clear over time. You're quite correct about Neville needing a friend at the Manor. Thanks for the review!

Really interesting story.
I have a theory about Anna, but I could be wrong, so I'm looking forward to seeing where you take this :)

Author's Response: Thank you for the review! I'm glad that you're interested in the story and in the situation with Anna.
