Reviews For A Proper Epilogue

I love, love, love, love your Molly and Arthur. They're the parents Harry needs, and I find myself wanting to reach into the story and hug them. Your description of George breaks my heart. Of all the characters, he's the one I worry most about post-canon. I have to admit - I'm one of those who believes Harry did do the right thing in leaving Ginny' behind, so I balk a bit at the suggestion he needs to apologize for it. Ginny was underage. The Trace would've had them caught before they'd even begun because I don't believe she'd be able to not act when one of them was in danger. Who could? I think the results would've been a disaster. While I think she's his greatest comfort, he didn't need comfort - he needed to do his job. I also don't think Hogwarts was easy, but again, not his fault she was there. There was no place easy until Voldemort was destroyed. That's my .02 on it, anyway.

Author's Response: Thank you so very much! I confess to the guilty pleasure of reading about Molly flying off the rails in protest of Ginny's love for Harry, but in all honesty, I could never see JKR's Molly Weasley behaving that way. I have always tried to tell my girls (no boys) that there is NOTHING they can do that would EVER cause me not to love them. Thanks for your understanding and support. As for Harry leaving Ginny behind, I agree. Me had no alternative, although he could have done a better job of explaining things! I don't think Harry needed to apologize, but I think Harry would think he did! Does that make sense?

Fascinating chapter! Your single line of redirection from Molly is a wonderful encapsulation of the character you've moulded for her, and captured my imagination even more than the other very touching moments you covered in the chapter.

I'm not certain why so many fanfics vilify Molly. If one seeks to ground things in canon, a FF writer can find legitimate threads to spin off to make Dumbledore, Ron or Hermione into insufferable wretches, but I can't really think of any true grievance against Molly. And nor is she unidimensional -- not when the supposedly naive, cloyingly maternal woman takes down Bellatrix Lestrange with a battle scream worthy of a Banshee.

Anyway, I'm glad you found your way to surprising us a bit more.

Author's Response: Thank you! I obviously agree with you! Molly always seemed like a loving, caring mother to me, who tried to keep her kids from flying off the rails and instilling some discipline without becoming a controlling, evil hag. She welcomed Harry into her home freely and gave him everything he needed, most importantly, love. However, I'm sure the food helped him, as well. She was hacked off at the twins and Ron, told them why she was angry, then fed them a sumptuous breakfast. What a bitch! I guess as a parent of five daughters, I recognize how one tries to walk a fine line between disciplinarian and ensuring that your kids get everything they need, You don't always get it right, but everything you do, you do out of love. As for Hermione, yes, she has her negative points and I can see why she had such difficulty making friends, but she was always loyal to Harry. Again, fueled by the love of a sibling, she often overstepped the boundaries -- turning over the broomstick for testing, ignoring Harry's concerns about Malfoy, becoming insecure when Harry surpassed her marks in potions -- but she stuck with Harry, was a good friend to Ginny, and fought for the light to the final battle. Yes she was obnoxious about S.P.E.W. but her heart was in the right place. Now, Ron is a different story. His insecurities and jealousy fueld so much rage and spiteful behavior. Reminding Harry that he had no family! AARRGGHH! Treating Ginny like a three-year-old. Being jealous of the Boy-Who-Lived-But-His-Parents-Were-Murde red. Yuck! Just yuck! But still at his core a decent person. His hatred for all Slytherins was an issue for me as well. God help us all if we haven't anymore mental subtlety than that!

I do not think I have seen the burial of Snape at Godric's Hollow before. Nice touch.

Author's Response: Thank you! Between what Harry had already learned about Severus Snape and the news that he helped protect Ginny and the other students at "occupied" Hogwarts, I think he would recognize that Snape had earned at least a modicum of respect.

Another nice chapter.
So not only Molly and Muriel but also Gabrielle uses Ginny´s full name. I am glad because I love the sound of it. It´s a pity that nobody else doesn´t do it. If Harry explains to Ginny that he likes it then maybe she would let him to call her Ginevra.

So Harry is rich. That´s nothing original but I like it every time.

Lily´s letter was moving. I had tears in my eyes so well done.

Author's Response: Apologies, again, for a tardy reply. I agree, Ginevra's name is lovely and meaningful. I don't know why she doesn't like it. I shouldn't admit this, but I couldn't stop the tears as I wrote the content of that letter. I know Harry is a fictional character, but his life is so compelling!!!

Fabulous chapter! I love when a story makes me laugh one moment and feel a bit weepy the next. Many revelations in this chapter. Obviously Petunia has some explaining to do. I am also curious about Harry's wealth and how that will impact the story.

Author's Response: Thanks! You can bet that Harry and Ginny will henceforth call the shots when it comes to their relationship with the Dursleys!

Sorry for not reviewing the last chapter. I read it on my phone and typing a review on that is so tedious. I loved seeing Arthur welcome Harry to the family. And this chapter was lovely too. I had been skeptical when I first read who they were expecting for the funeral, so it was nice to see more classmates show up to honor Fred.

I do wonder how George will handle all of this. And it looks like Molly might be cracking under the strain too. Hopefully they won't have to suffer for too long before making peace with the loss of Fred. And now you have me wondering... Will Petunia have kept the letters? Will she have destroyed them? I feel certain that if she kept them she would have read them first. I'm not sure which would be worse.

I'm just waiting to see what happens when Draco and Lucius find out about the engagement. Will Ginny be a target? I guess I'll just have to keep reading to find out!

Thanks for a great story!

Author's Response: Thank you for your kind words and your habit of consistently leaving reviews! I greatly appreciate your efforts.

You have no idea how much I was smirking when you opened this chapter with Hermione being locked out of Ginny's room! I did feel a bit sorry for her, though, after she tried to make Harry feel sorry for her by telling him she didn't get much sleep since she spent the night "talking" with Ron.

It was really nice to see proof of how many people Fred and George touched with their products, bringing laughter to more houses than just Gryffindor during the war. I had to smile when Gabrielle cornered Harry in the sitting room as everyone was arriving. I could tell he was grateful to Molly for bringing the focus back to the original purpose of the gathering.

Lily's letter was very touching and I can see the trouble brewing for Petunia gathering on the horizon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she didn't casually throw them away as if they were rubbish. My question to you is this: do you think Lily knew of Dumbledore's plan to have Petunia raise Harry because of what she said in her letter? I've always been under the impression that Lily and James wanted someone other than the Dursleys to raise Harry.

I'm looking forward to the confrontation. Well done.

Author's Response: I think you have raised an excellent question about Lily's intention. I'm quite obviously an American, so our friends across the pond may have a stronger tradition of Godparents taking in their orphaned Godchildren. I should have done more research. As for canon, I think it is silent as to Lily's and James' intentions for Harry's care in the event of their deaths. In the Ü.S., absent a will, blood relatives generally trump Godparents when it comes to such situations. As with everything else, it varies slightly state to state. Anyway, taking that as my background, it made sense that Lily would have expected Petunia to take Harry under her roof despite the estrangement between the sisters. Now, I acknowledge that, even if canon is silent, the world of Fan Fiction frequently shows Lily's wishes as being for Sirius to care for Harry. I can see the temptation to write it that way, but it isn't the way in which I envision it. I hope this wandering explanation makes sense! LOL!

I'm glad you addressed Ginny's year at Hogwarts. The horribly year in the "save heaven" of Hogwarts under the control of the Death Eater is often played down to justify the silly break-up, just like so many other things that Ginny had to endure in her life. I’m looking forward to reading about Harry’s reaction when Ginny tells him about her life at Hogwarts.

I liked the talk between Hermione and Harry. Deep in the heart I somehow like Mrs Know-it-all.
Its great how you show both, the grief about Fred's death as well as that life has to go on, no matter what. That's reality of life, and part of the way to cope with grief.
I liked the way you include events from the past (Gabrielle, the library scene). Will we ever find out what happened to the other letters to Harry?

Many thanks for a brilliant, quite emotional chapter!

Oh, and by the way, my e-book reader asked me to thank you for removing those strange characters.

Author's Response: Credit the staff at SIYE for the edits. The strange characters are beyond my understanding!

Well harry is in for a bumpy ride and so are everyone else at the borrow.....kutgw

Author's Response: Neville's parents were tortured after Voldemort's first fall, so I doubt the Death Eaters who escaped from the final battle will suddenly become passive in their acceptance of defeat.
