Honestly this version of Fred's death is sadder than how it happened in canon. I'm not sure how it matters why Harry is improving, just that he is so I'm not too fond of Hermione sneaking around just to find out. Ron is an absolute tool in this story you were right lol. Good chapter =)
Author's Response: The horrible reality of writing about Fred's death in this chapter was that just after I finished writing it, we learned that my husband had a brain tumor. He had been home sick for several weeks and nothing we tried was making any improvement in how he felt, and I began to think that there was an awful connection between what I'd researched for Fred's tumor and the symptoms my husband was exhibiting. It was a very sad relief to discover that one of my favorite characters and my husband were going to suffer the same fate. As for Hermione, you know she has to know everything in order to be satisfied, so maybe she took it a little far in her snooping, but deep down, you know that she'd absolutely do anything to get the answers to her questions. And yes, Ron is a tool in this story. More about him later. Thanks for reading.

This was a rough chapter to read. Ron was always childish in canon, but my goodness, he's a right arse here. Your hospital depictions were spot on. Having lived through a hospice situation not oh so long ago. Brilliant chapter, my dear friend.
MNF
Author's Response: Because of my rocky year, the hospital scene was very easy to write, even though it invoked some unpleasant memories for me, too. I've always written Ron as the loveable, capable sidekick, so creating a despicable version of the character was a new experience for me. I agree... he is an arse in this story!

Arnel, I hope all goes well with your husband and his treatment. I think you captured the turmoil a diagnosis can cause very well. Friends abandoning sick friends with cancer as Angelina did happens all too commonly. I hate to think that Fred had to hide his disease and couldn't rely on his family and friends for support. Its great that Ginny was able to be that person for him and support and love him.
Ron is an ass! He is absolutely the type of person who wouldn't "feel comfortable" visiting sick people in hospitals. I know sitting at the bedside of a sick loved one isn't always fun, but its so important. How could Ginny have manipulated the meds? She didn't work on the floor he was on. I'm appalled that the hospital felt the need to approach her about it and don't blame her for leaving the hospital.
Its heartbreaking that Ron has somehow convinced Bill and Charlie that she did something wrong. Obviously, they didn't visit him regularly or they would not have been surprised when he went into multi-organ failure.
So glad that Harry is able to be there and provide support for Ginny. She certainly deserves it after what she went through. Hermione was a bit obnoxious, spying on Harry and reporting back to others. I can't believe Hermione, of all people, would have a problem with her being a Muggle. I'm guessing she thinks it would be harder for Harry to hide his issues.
Amazing story! Again, my thoughts and prayers and with you and your family.
Author's Response: Just like in real life, the Ottery St Mary hospital needed to look into Ron's accusations, mostly because his words caught the attention of other patients in the ward that night. You're right that Ginny didn't even work on his floor, so how could she have done anything to his medicines and why would she want to? There will be more of this later in the story. Also, I know it sounds strange, but if you listen to something long enough, you just might start to believe what you're being told. I think that's what happened to Bill and Charlie and after a cooling off period, I think they realized that what Ron was saying wasn't right, but by then the damage was done and Ginny had moved to London. As for Hermione, I don't think she is prejudiced against Harry having a Muggle girlfriend, rather, it's the consequences of having said Muggle girlfriend that is worrying her. She knows that Ginny is doing wonders for Harry, but because she isn't supposed to know about magic, what will be the consequences of him telling her he's a wizard and exposing her to magic? Right now, that's how Hermione is viewing the situation. Thanks for reading and for the prayers for me and my family. They help more than you know.

Oh hermione you always where a party 💩...kutgw
Author's Response: She means well, though, and does have a role to play in Harry's life. He relies on her more than he acknowledges. Thanks for reading.

Oh, Ron. He really is a bugger in this story, but you do it so very well. Poor Ginny, though, and I like seeing Harry cheering her up. I hope you and your family are doing well. You're pretty amazing being the strong one through this all, too! Much hugs and love.
Author's Response: I've never really written a story that contains a mean Ron and with him and Ginny being so close in age in this one, it sort of came easily to write a back story showing how they each gravitated to a twin. Jealousy also played a big part in it, too. As for Harry and Ginny, they've come to rely on each other. That made it easy for Harry to cheer her up. My family is dong well, even though it feels so strange to be the one holding it together. It makes me wonder what it feels like to be a single mum. Thanks for reading and all of your support for this story.

The brother I lost from brain cancer had worked 2 summers during college for his then girlfriend's father whose company did maintenance work for the petro-chemical plants near Baton Rouge, LA in the USA. That is likely where he got his cancer but smoking even after diagnosis didn't help. He had to give up his family medical practice but then did volunteer work up until it finally got him.
Hang in there and don 't give up. My brother leaned heavily on his faith to get him thru. God Bless you and your husband and your family.
Author's Response: Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your story. It means a lot to have the support of someone I don't know, but who has shared a similar experience to mine.

It looks like Harry and Ginny are helping each other by falling in love. Hard to believe Ron could be a bigger jerk than he was sometimes in the books and movies but he sure topped himself in this one! I don't think Harry will care if Ginny is a muggle but will be interested in how her family reacts to him! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D (I fully understand what your husband and you are going thru.
I am the oldest of 3 brothers and the youngest 2 are both deceased from cancer. The middle brother left us 14 years ago due to
brain cancer which finally got him after a 17 year fight after diagnosis. He was an MD. I will say as a warning to the readers that they both were smokers which is a habit I did not share. Please know that you and your hubby will be in my prayers.)
Author's Response: Thank you for sharing your family's story. It seems that we are just beginning our journey of living with this disease. My husband used to refuel nuclear submarines for a living and is now someone the refuelers talk to when they have problems. He isn't a smoker either. Even so, he told me that he's the third employee in his office to have come down with brain cancer and his boss is wondering if there's correlation between refueling jobs and the disease. As for our favorite characters, I took Ron at his worst in the books and amplified his shortcomings because as an adult, he still is as immature as he is as a teenager: he still has a lot of growing up to do and quite a few hard lessons to learn. You're right that Harry doesn't care if Ginny is a Muggle. He's falling in love with her for who she is, not for what she isn't. I think he realizes that she has her own brand of magic that doesn't need a wand to use. You'll find out how her family reacts to Harry in a few chapters. See you next week.

Arnel, so sorry to read that your husband is battling cancer. My thoughts are with your family at this time. Lots of virtual hugs to you.
Author's Response: Thanks for the kind words. I didn't put the dedication in to get readers to offer sympathy, but I appreciate them all the same. Every little bit counts and I see improvements in my husband's demeanor as he is going through treatment.

Sorry about your husband's problems. I have two grown up boys. One writes computer games and the other designs micro chips for digital signal processing. They both have a lot more money than me.
This is an excellent story with slightly changed characters . Well written as well. Look forward to more.
Author's Response: You'll get more next Monday. My own son is majoring in computer science with a concentration on coding games and I'm hoping that he will be as successful as your sons. I'm glad you like the story. Thanks for reading.

Oh dear. Is this what happens when a Ron Weasley doesn’t have a Harry Potter in his life?
Author's Response: Absolutely! Just like in the books, Ron feels overshadowed by his brothers and when Fred's cancer upset his applecart, Ron didn't know where to turn to deal with his feelings. In the books, he may be the sidekick, but in this story, he doesn't have that role, so he's floundering at trying to find his way in life. It seems you really feel for this version of Ron. I'm glad you do. He needs a friend!

I take it, Ron was just on the way to bed after playing video games all night when he woke up Ginny at 5 in the morning.
It seems the title A Time for Healing is meant for both of them. I'm looking forward to reading more next Monday, and I wish your hubby a speedy recovery.
Author's Response: You're right about Ron staying up all night. Boys will be boys, even at twenty-five! (I know this because my own nineteen-year-old son spends many a night going to bed in the wee hours after monster online gaming sessions with his buddies.) He's also immature enough to say things that hurt people without really understanding the price of his words. Also, you are right about this being a time for healing for both Harry and Ginny. They're good for each other will help the other in ways others can't. See you next Monday and thank you for your kind wishes.

Interesting turn! I suppose you don't like Ron a lot eh? awaiting more
Author's Response: In all my other stories, I've written Ron as the loveable goofball he is or, in the case of my story "For Love of Family," the reliable and successful Auror. This story needed a thorn in Ginny's side and since I have followed canon and killed off Fred, Ron got the job of the really annoying brother. There will definitely be more next week. Thanks for reading.
