Reviews For The Lost Year

**** I have no plans to write a 280K-word Horocrux hunt (a.k.a. book7)*****
And here I wash, thinking that it would be just useful to have Ginny with them on the run. At least she knows how to hunt and provide food ;-)

Author's Response: Haha! With proper planning, there's no need to hunt for food ... but then that would be "Ginny's Plan". :)

I believe Ginny is wanting acknowledgment as an important new "resource" for Harry in your version of the tale, Kevin.

Lord knows that he needed some serious "calming" at times that didn't happen in Jo's version.

Thanks for your unfolding of this...

Author's Response: Yes, you could say Ginny is "resource" for him, along with a better memory, and a few other things...

I think having harry get more info is a benefit and albus was an idiot for not passing it along sooner....Ginny knowing more then Ron and hermione is a good thing as it’s true she has been though more and seen it more then they have......kutgw

Author's Response: Except that if Harry had been told more, then book 7 wouldn't have been as long. :)

Glad to see both the locket and diadem destroyed a little sooner. I think I would have been disappointed if you had written much later. Now, I am intrigued to how the final battle will go and how Harry will handle being told his is an horcrux.

Author's Response: It'll be subtle? :)

I like how Harry handled Dumnbledore and took command with the 2 horcruxes and destroying them! He was right to take Ginny into his confidence as she does have a personal involvement with one already dispatched! Glad Harry saved Kattie and his right to suspect Dorko, er, Draco! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Author's Response: Haha, I like Dorko's, I mean Draco's, new name. ;)

Good idea to let Dobby trail Malfoy. It'll save Harry a lot of time and nerves ... and probably prevent some of the HBP events from happening. It's kind of funny that Harry is starting to follow Dumbledore's lead in keeping secrets, isn't it? Lol.

Author's Response: Harry had Dobby's help in training Draco in the books, IIRC. Yes, Harry is keeping secrets, but the big difference is that the people he's keeping them from aren't directly affected, as he was directly affected by Albus keeping secrets. That's a pretty important diff to me.

Yeah, leave it to Ron to jinx the Hogsmeade weekend.... :-}

Unless I'm confused, the prophecy does not say Harry will be successful -- merely that he "has a power" Tom does not know. (Tricky things, prophecies.)

It's rather selfish of Dumpledore to fail to disclose more about the protection on the ring -- at least to admit that he ran afoul of what appeared to have been a very strong Compulsion charm (for example), so that Harry would have a better idea of what he's up against.

Ah -- excellent instincts, there, Ginny trying to keep her boyfriend healthy.

I'm pretty sure Harry would have no doubt that the ritual aqt the graveyard was Dark. :-}

Heh -- Ginny's clever, and remembers useful things! :-)

Excellent deployment of Dobby -- though it might be better had Harry thought to specify that Dobby was to remain "undetected," rather than merely "not seen." :-)

Interesting that Harry didn't need to "open" the locket before it was destroyed.

Good for Harry -- not backing down when Ron tried to equate what he & Hermione have experienced with Ginny's first year

Author's Response: Hmm, I don't think I said Harry would be automatically successful here, did I? If so that's certainly an error. In the talk with Albus Harry expressed he might "die trying". / Yes, Albus could have shared his problem with the ring hurting him, but at least Harry has been forewarned there can be protections on them. / Yes, Ginny has a vested interest in keeping Harry healthy. :) / A slightly better memory for everyone here; it's a good resource to have. / Meh, "undetected" and "not seen" go pretty much hand-in-pocket or something that's close together. :) / Yeah, no need to open the locket; I never got why that was required in the books. OK, you might have to whack it twice or something, but on God's green earth, why would you activate a dark object?! That's just silly! (I'll point out none of the others had to be activated to be destroyed.) / Ginny has upset the balance between the "golden trio" somewhat. That's both good and bad. But since there will be no camping trip, it's all right. :)

It is a great chapter. The progression is really good. Hope to see more action in the coming chapters. Eagerly waiting for the next part. Please update soon.
