I loved the way Harry and Ginny talked about Tom. During her long time with the diary, Ginny has obviously learned a lot about Tom. I think this conversation was only possible because they trust each other. It's a wonderful next step in their friendship.
Ginny mimicking her mother was very impressive and hilarious. I can totally imagine Ginny being like that. Her brothers more or less confirmed it too. Unfortunately, thanks to Harry, we didn't see much of that in the books. lol
I was just wondering if Ginny will get her first kiss sooner or later than in the books... ;-)
Author's Response: I agree with you that Harry and Ginny talking through how Tom manipulated them is important, and I wished the books had given us a little more of that connection. And while I won't confirm the who or the when for Ginny's first kiss, I certainly hope that both hers and Harry's first kisses are better than Michael and Cho.

What a great chapter! I'm sorry that Ron and Hermione found it necessary to bicker so much that Harry and Ginny felt caught in the middle. However, the latest spat was a good vehicle for their conversation over the chess game. I think it went a long way to prove to Ginny that Harry really wants her friendship despite what others think, especially Rita Skeeter and the Slytherins. It seems that Harry is continuing to find ways to let Ginny know that she is important to him, which is a really good thing, considering that it could have been Ginny with the Bubotuber Puss on her hands instead of Hermione. Oh, I really loved Ginny's impression of her mum. I was laughing along with Ron and Harry at the end. Well done.
Author's Response: Yeah, I was hoping that their interactions in this chapter could serve to assuage some of the fears of being accidentally included or not really wanted. I think that it would be easy for Ginny to learn about the memory later and feel like Harry was only being kind / acting interested out of obligation, but hopefully genuine moments of connection like this help build a foundation that can withstand future challenges.
And Ginny's impression of her Mum's howler felt like one of those rare moments when you really capture a character's essence in a fanfic. Sure, this is a story I'm writing that diverges from canon in lots of ways, but I felt really proud of that section and thought it felt true to who I believe Ginny really is. I'm glad it stuck out to you and gave you a laugh!

Well I think the girls need to start thinking with fire to stop Rita because some of this stuff needs to stop…as for harry working on Ginny to open up, not a bad start but I think he could have going a little deeper….but Ginny is to smart for him…..which is a good thing…she will make him smarter….kutgw
