I was winding if you where going to allow Victor the chance to have a happy ending, but int he end we all knew his fate….at lease he went out with pride, but im a little surprised you didn’t allow harry to bring back his body for his mother and sisters to bury. Hermione is going to be crushed….that’s for sure…kutgw
Author's Response: I didn’t have Harry bring back Viktor’s body partially due to him perishing much farther from the portkey than Cedric did in canon, but also because Harry bringing Cedric’s body back wasn’t super meaningful to me reading the books. It was nice and all, but not super impactful to my personal experience of the story. Viktor was more concerned with relaying a message to Harry for Hermione.

I was so disappointed when Voldemort killed Krum. I was hoping against hope that he somehow escaped and could return either by himself to get help or stay hidden long enough to go back with Harry. Viktor asking Harry to explain to Hermione his feelings made me get all teary-eyed when he and the others came out of Voldemort's wand. You did a nice job of glossing over the parts of the return that I really don't like and usually skim through when I'm reading GoF. I'm looking forward to next week's chapter. Well done.
Author's Response: Sorry for killing off Viktor! I really enjoyed writing for him and hated to let him go, but I couldn’t justify keeping him alive. After the way the story began in the first few chapters, it’s pretty clear that Voldemort is incredibly dangerous and violent. It just didn't make sense in my head to let him live. So glad that Viktor connected with you enough to elicit that response!

Oh damn, Viktor. In my last review, I said I have the feeling something unexpected was about to happen in the third task. That's exactly what I was afraid of. I'm curious how Hermione will take it.
Author's Response: Hermione's reaction was a challenge to write, same with Viktor's mother. I hated to kill him off, especially since I have really grown to like him.

No! Hermione is going to be heartbroken. I was hoping they would both escape but I suppose it wasn't to be.
Author's Response: A part of me want Viktor to make it out alive, but I had a hard time justifying it in my head. Especially after taking a long hiatus from killing off beloved characters! Writing Hermione's grief was pretty heartwrenching, and I'll be interested to see how you feel about the characterization. Same with Viktor's family. Thanks for dropping a review!
