Title: Chapter 41
Finally, I found the time to catch up with the chapters I missed in the last weeks. A lot happened, and I loved the changes you made. I'm curious if/how Umbridge can be punished if she's following school rules during Harry's detention.
Ah, finally, it happened - Harry told Ginny the details about the memory. Loved this scene!
Can't wait to find out how Umbridge reacts when she finds out about the duelling club.
Author's Response: Glad you've enjoyed the changes! I think Umbridge's punishments are technically allowable according to the rules, but that doesn't mean others can't take matters into their own hands. I like that Harry shared with Ginny about the memory. It was a challenging scene to write, but felt very worth it once it was complete. Umbridge is going to flip her lid when she finds out what's going on right under her nose. Thanks for the comment!

Title: Chapter 41
Well i think they are definitely not he right path with he students and umbitch is not going to be able to stop it soon enough…as for snape and mcg teaching harry how to clear his mind….i think they could have given him more information before hand and allow more time to work out what the heck they are talking about….i know I didn’t have the first clue before the first attack….kutgw
Author's Response: Yeah, the Defense Club is going to be really important as a substitute for the DA this year, and Umbridge will have to find a way to fight them. Snape's "teaching methods" leave something to be desired, but I like to think that McGonagall will help them improve over time. Thanks for the comment!

Title: Chapter 41
Brilliant chapter! I'm really glad that Harry is learning not only from his successes, but from his mistakes in training and that he is so observant of his friends' strengths and weaknesses. Hopefully, they will all learn from each other.
Harry and Ginny's quiet time together made my heart happy when he at last told her of the contents of the rogue memory. At first, the scene played out as I thought it would with Ginny being suspicious of Harry's motives for asking her out. However, Harry did a great job of defending himself and his actions with sound reasoning while giving Ginny the time she needed to get her head around the implications of the memory. Nicely done. I'm glad they're still together!
Thank you for such an detailed first Occlumency lesson scene. You seem to have followed the path of the canon scene, but by inserting Professor McGonagall into the situation, you made that first lesson so much more bearable for Harry, plus he received the explanations he didn't get in the original. I am optimistic that Harry will actually learn Occlumency this time, especially with McGonagall glaring at Snape at regular intervals!
Finally, I know this next bit is getting nitpicky, but it needs to be said. Back in 2002 when Goblet of Fire was published, Rowling used the spell "Enervate" to revive Stunned characters. That spell was the wrong one to use because the word means "to weaken," which is the opposite of what Rowling intended to happen. Subsequently, in later editions of the books, the spell was changed to "Rennervate," meaning "to strengthen." You, like many fan fic authors, forgot this when Snape goes to wake Professor McGonagall up and used the older spell rather than the correct newer one. I hope you don't mind that I pointed this out.
All in all, a fantastic chapter. I look forward to the next one.
Author's Response: I find that I learn a lot from mistakes and from my friends, so I figured that might apply to Harry, too. It's not fun for me to write disagreements and arguments, but I thought Ginny's latent insecurities and Harry's lack of confidence about how to communicate the situation would result in some sort of challenges. I'm glad they're still together, too. McGonagall in Occlumency is another instance of something changing slightly at first that should have big implications later.
I had no idea about Rennervate. I've been reading from the copy of GoF our family bought on its first day of publication all these years. I'll go back and correct it. Thanks for the heads up!
