Title: Chapter 50

One of the things that drives me nuts about fan fic authors is the lack of attention to irregular verbs in the past tense. They don't pay attention to "sink, sank, sunk," using "sunk" for all purposes. I thank you for using "sank" properly in two places in this chapter! I'm very glad you know your English verb conjugations!
On the other hand, your committee approach to how the Horcruxes should be destroyed really was annoying. As opposed to Harry, Ron and Hermione's approach in the books of "just do it," the adults took far too long discussing the who, what, when and how for my liking; they reminded me of a bunch of old women discussing the best way to crochet an afghan! However, once they reached their consensus, I loved McGonagall's reaction to being the one to destroy the ring and how eager she was to do it! Her enthusiasm made me grin. I'm also glad that Harry had his part in destroying the locket, even if he needed saving from it a second time. I'm sure his getting to have a part in the night's activities made him feel part of the group.
Finally, I'm wondering if the destruction of the locket will free Kreacher from his self-imposed punishment and make him a more reasonable elf like what happened in the books. You seemed to hint that that might happen because of what Kreacher told everyone at the meeting. It made me sad that Sirius had to be so forceful with him in order to have him understand what the group was planning to do and I'm hoping that he will no longer feel the burden imposed on him by Regulus.
All in all, a nice chapter. Well done.
Author's Response: As the son of a newspaper editor and a sports writer, I'm thrilled that I've done them proud through grammatical correctness. I'd argue that the brashness of three teens might create a different process of decision-making than a committee involving overly thoughtful Albus Dumbledore, but I can definitely see why their process would be frustrating.
I think Kreacher is going to be doing a good deal better now that his assigned task has been completed. Hopefully, Sirius and Kreacher can both begin having a healthier relationship now that this wedge has been removed. Thanks so much for dropping an encouraging comment!
